Koi sat down on a mound of snow, dipping his paw into the icy cold water. "Beautiful day of zero blizzards whatsoever, nice cool water, everyone else on hunting patrol, especially Demon..." "Ahem? I heard my name?" Koi gave a startled jump as Demon crept up behind him, a smirk on his face. "What are you doing? Silent said you had to be hunting. Oooh, I'm going to tell!" "Silent," Koi defended himself hotly, "doesn't care if I laze off or not. She says that we need to take breaks sometimes." "I know. She doesn't want to hurt your feelings, Koi. It's not really about the breaks, you do realize that?" "Go away! You're ruining it." Upset, Koi leapt at Demon. Thankfully, rather than attack back, Demon obliged, dodging and prancing away from him, laughing with a devilish howl he likes to make just to irritate everyone, especially Koi. Koi probably would have chased Demon off, if he weren't so tired.

Sighing, Koi rested his back against the rough bark of the tree. The camp was empty and had a strange, silent coldness to it. Glancing around, he waded into the pond, his fur soggy wet, sodden with iced water. He shivered as the water seeped through his fur and made contact with his warm flesh, but he got used to the cold as a human child would eventually in a pool. He flipped over on his back and faced the open, cloudy sky, his thoughts still jumbled but slowly resorting themselves. Sometimes, he dipped underwater and was about to drown but couldn't bring himself to move, but he always somehow floated back up to the surface to breathe in air again. He loved every moment he was in the water; the muffled silence when his ears are stuck underwater soothed him in a way nothing else could. Relaxing his tense joints, he let his mind wander and drift away.

Hours passed, and he was still in the water, to everyone's confusion as they returned from hunting. Silent had poked him with a small, sharp claw experimentally, but nothing had happened. "Have you fallen asleep, you lazy bundle of fur?" Demon had yelled at him, but it seemed as if Koi weren't there. Everyone figured that this was just typical Koi and left him alone, but just before the sun began to set, his shell thawed and he sighed softly. The water cradled him, soothing his tired muscles and creasing the folds in his mind. He had always loved the water, and it seemed that the water loved him back. He knew that he would wake up with a refreshed mind, and hunt twice as much the next day. The thought made him happy, because he would be able to wipe the grin off Demon's face.

Quietly, as if not to disturb the soft ripples that flickered across the water like little waves lapping at an island, he called out to no one in particular: "Beautiful day of zero blizzards whatsoever, nice cool water, everyone else on hunting patrol, especially Demon..."

Anubis is a bold young cat. She’s great at fishing, and she just loves to relax and chill. When there’s other cats around, she feels like she has to prove herself. Whatever it takes, she’ll get it done. Anubis strives for perfection, and a spark of fire inside her leads her to do wonderful things In her lifetime.
While her story began lovely, her lifetime hasn’t always been that way. Her mother and father were kind and loving parents, but one day when a vicious flood ripped through the valley, her family was swept away. She hasn’t seen them since then, but she knows they must still be alive. She looks out for them every day, in hopes of spotting them on the rise.
