Entry One;; [264 words]
I found this muddy stallion on the side of the road. I feel so bad for him. I approached him slowly and he was cautious at first, but then came right up to me!
I was shocked at how easily it was to approach him. I took him home and decided to try to give him a bath.
Let’s just say I failed. Once he saw the hose he went crazy, started bucking and running around the corral.
Looks like I’ll have to gain his trust more before I bathe him.
I decided to start with some simple training — I decided to get him used to my other horses.
I first brought out my youngest one in my stable, her name is Dreamer. He didn’t take too kindly to her at first, he would sniff her, trot away and whinny. He never showed harm, he knew she was young and was kind. But obviously still spooked, I took Dreamer out of the corral.
He would sniff her through the gate though. And after a bit, I managed to put her back in there with him and he showed excitement! He was playing with her.
It warmed my heart, knowing that Dreamer had made a new friend. I knew this stallion was definitely going to be staying here.
If he’s going to stay I’m going to have to name him. I tried calling out some names. Like Nolan, Danté, Jake.
But then I called out Ringo, his ears immediately perked up and faced me. Looks like this guy is going to be named Ringo.

Entry Two;; [228 words]
It’s been two weeks since I got Ringo. He’s been doing well with his training and it looks like the other horses are taking him in really well. He still refuses to go near a halter or saddle. But I’ve been coaxing him slowly with lots of treats.
Oh, I found out his favourite treat are peppermints! I have plenty since I bought them for my other horses but none of them wanted any. As I grew closer to this muddy stallion I learned many things. He showed passion in his own way.
I know he's been hurt in his past, I could see it in his eyes. And it means so much that he feels like he can trust me.
Ringo started to let me pet him. He loves tummy rubs. I swear he's just a big ol' puppy once you get to know him.
He also started to lay down next to me when I'm reading under a tree in the pasture. Sometime's he'd nudge my hand to get me to pet him.
As I said, I started coaxing him to get near a halter and saddle, the poor thing is spooked to death by the tack.
I tried putting the halter on him once, but he freaked and ran me into the ground.
The only time I can get him to touch the halter with his nose is when he's with Calypso. Those two seem to have a connection. I hope to see this boy grow more by the time I check back in.
The most we did today was trying to get him closer to the tack. But he also followed me on a trail in the woods, he never left my side once!

Entry Three;; [226 words]
Three weeks and I'm checking back in.
I finally got the halter on him! He was scared at first but he trusted me. He allowed me to gently guide him around the corral with the halter on. I tried the saddle, he allowed me to put it on him but not buckle it. I was sad, but we have to go one step at a time. Ringo and Calypso have been spending a lot of time together. I guess I should be on the lookout for a youngster lol.
I also got to move Ringo into his new stable in the barn, and it's located right next to Calypso and right across from Dreamer and her mom.
I started to train Ringo on how to trot over polls I laid out. He did a fantastic job, he didn't mess up once.
I can tell he really wants to show me his best side. He's going to be a star jumper one day, I can feel it.
We moved from polls on the ground to small hurdles. He knocked them down a few times, but once he got the hang of it he was jumping over them like crazy!
At one point he stared at me as if asking to make them higher. But I didn't want to push him, we did enough training in three weeks.

Entry Four;; [242 words]
Ringo allowed me to put the saddle on and buckle it! He also cautiously allowed me to sit on his back, but only for a few minutes. I'm so proud of him.
In the past weeks I've had him he's gotten so far.
The only downside is; he's still super muddy. He still won't allow me to wash him. He did allow me to get near him with the hose though, as long as it was off.
A couple of days after that he allowed me to turn it on, but not spray it on him. Instead, he started drinking from it. Of course, Dreamer had to follow him and started drinking from the hose. Now neither of them will drink water unless it's straight from the hose. Oh boi, what have I gotten myself into?
Anyways, Ringo did a fantastic job jumping over much larger hurdles. It's like he was trained to be a jumper at some point.
I see a lot of potential in this guy.
Let's see...what else did we do.
Oh! about a week after training him with the saddle he allowed me to ride him on the trail. He really enjoyed himself. He would trick me into thinking he was going to buck me off, what a goofball.
He doesn't seem to be getting along with my other stallion though. I guess it's a dominance thing.
I just hope they don't get into a fight or something.

Bath Time!;; [331 words]
Finally, after all that work it was time to clean up Ringo. After weeks of training and slowly gaining his trust, he's allowed me to wash him. I brought him to the cleaning area, but he wouldn't go alone, he had to bring Calypso with him
I used a rubber curry comb to get off the mud that was dried, which was a lot. There were pieces of dried mud everywhere.I moved onto using a hard brush to brush out whatever was in his coat that wasn't mud. I slowly brought out the hose, not wanting to spook him. He didn't move an inch, he looked at Calypso and then at me as if telling me that he's ready.
I turned the hose on and put it to a soft setting and gently started rinsing him down.
Then, the bubbles came. That's when things got out of hand.
Ringo went wild with excitement, jumping and trotting around chasing the bubbles so he could pop them.
He even tried to eat the bubbles that were on his coat! He got soap and water everywhere. Calypso and I were soaked with water, more than Ringo was. Instead of being mad or upset, I just laughed. I never thought I'd ever meet such a goofy stallion in my life.
This was the best day of my life. I finally got to see a side of Ringo that I never knew existed. Now I knew he accepted me as his family, along with the other horses.
After I finally got to rinse the bubbles off of Ringo I dried him off. I used a towel as I do with the rest of my horses because I don't trust heat products. I found out that he goes bonkers when you rub his rump. He licks the air, he'll lick you, another horse, even a wooden fence. Now that he's finally clean, I can now see that he trusts me, and I won't let him down.
