prompt: my headache pulses while my paws scavenge through the wooden bookcases, surely i didn’t misplace my favorite novel? If i did, that would’ve been very unlikely- even i myself know that. i sigh and grumble, giving up my search for the novel and heading back towards my desk in the back when suddenly my name is called.
“rouge, we need some help in the front, can you come here?” another employee in the bookstore calls. i grumble, first i get writing block, and then i can’t find my favorite book, and now i have to socialize with others while dealing with a horrible headache.
how wonderful- note my sarcasm.
“okay, one second!” i scurry out to the front to help the customer and find a old sumerian trying to check out a book on origami. i swoon in my head, i have a soft spot in my usually closed off heart for the elderly.
“hello ma’m! how may i help you?”
“hello! yes, i’d like to check out this book? it looks quite interesting and i’m looking for some new hobbies,” she replies cheerfully, handing the book to me and smiling.
“origami is very fun and relaxing, i think you’d enjoy it,” i smile at her, looking at the book, “oh, and this shows you how to make cranes. how fun!” i hand the book back to her and help her through the buying process.
she waves goodbye after thanking me several times and i head back to my desk in the staff room. my headache is finally gone and i can’t help but laugh to myself.
i’m so glad i work here with all these books.
