Ok tbh this one is just me experimenting with patches. I think ive got it now but idk.

Can someone give me tips on how to make the patches better?

yeah so for this guy I'd use something like brush size 8-12, Spacing & Scattering bar be 1/2 or 2/3 of the size of the brush bar size.
So that be like Spacing 3-6% and Scattering 30-65% range.
Try this out and it should help allot with still jagged somewhat patches, but smoother. Just mess with the sizes but keep the Spacing and Scattering low being half or 2 thirds of the brush as said.
This is what I do, then I even use Eraser set to that if doing patches in another layer.
For example u can do the color under, then copy paste and color that copy white.
Then set Eraser to those settings, and remove white to make patches.
This will allow you to easily change the base color after you've made the patches!
