Heathersage Dale Horses were once used as packhorses in the 18th century, carrying goods from long distances in difficult terrain. They are now used as in hand show horses and are great for learner riders as they are patient, laid back and have a naturally good pace. These horses have hard, neat feet, suitable for rough terrain. Their legs are straight and set apart so their actions are straight and smooth. Some have a small amount of feathering on their legs that is soft and silky, whereas others may not. Their mane and tail grows quickly and is naturally wavy.

History
Cerrunous did not have an easy start to life. His birth was a difficult one, and his mother rejected him. He was larger than most colts start, and, quite frankly, they didn't know if he would survive. Yet, by what seemed to his first owners as luck, but was truly sheer willpower, the colt survived the night, and his owners took it upon themselves to keep the orphaned colt alive... for now.
And so, for the first year and 6 months of his life, he was grudgingly raised by owners who loved him not, and only wished to keep him for profit. Unfortunately for them, the colt, growing into a fine stallion, was not meek like they'd hoped for. He would not be ridden, for he knew it wasn't good for him. He would not stand for maltreatment, though he never attacked anyone. He simply refused to budge, his dark eyes glinting with a terrifying determination as he focused on his abusers, refusing to budge. And one day, he finally snapped.
His first owners had long since given up on training him, putting him up for sale at a lowered price due to his complete rebellion. I had heard about him one winter night, when his owners had pushed him too far, and he finally snapped, rearing, and throwing the man who was attempting to break him, stopping threateningly over him. The man was not okay with that at all. It was a night too cold for any to be out, and the man thought leaving the young stallion to freeze was a brilliant punishment.
And that is how I found him.
It was midnight, on the night of the new moon, with snow and ice falling all around, and I had just reached their farm. There, I found a heartstopping sight.
The stallion was standing proud, legs apart, and head held high even with the weight of the snow. His eyes glinted piercingly with strength and determination, and his breath created clouds in the night. I knew then, staring in shock at the powerful beast- this was a stallion that would never be broken.
No time was wasted. I hurried to the family's home, waking them and ranting about their treatment, before quickly purchasing him for much less than I knew his value to be. Without another moment's pause, I ran to the stallion, tears in my eyes as I apologized for not helping him sooner. And I could tell- somehow, he understood me. His gaze softened, and he stepped to me, gently pressing his nose against my shoulder, eyes closed. He followed me from then on, without complaint, into the trailer and then my warm barn. I have taken care of and loved him ever since.
But I did not break him. Oh, no, no one could do that. He is still the strong-willed stallion he once was, and nothing could change him, if he did not will it to be so. Although he lets me ride him, I'm never under the illusion that I'm in control. He is my gift, the king of the night, a stallion which has such love, but an incredible power. He performs well, not because he's meant to, but because he wants to. Although kind, and beautiful, when you look into his eyes, you can still see- there is a great power within him, and no one can stop him.
He will never be broken.
