Everything started as a kit, when he was born, his mother named him Snowkit because of his snow, white fur. At the time of his birth, he looked up to his friend Swiftkit, who was soon to be named Swiftpaw.

"Swiftkit!" Snowkit said as he bounded up to his larger friend. Swiftkit chuckled and patted his smaller friend's head with his large paw, "Hello Snowkit." Swiftkit, being 6 moons, his apprentice ceremony was today, where he would finally be made an apprentice. Snowkit, only being 2 moons, still had a ways to go. "Swiftkit, when you're made an apprentice, will you take me out of camp?" Snowkit asked quietly. Swiftkit laughed, "No, Snowkit, that is strictly against the warrior code, you know how Moorstar feeld about that." Snowkit sat and pouted. "You'll get your time soon enough." Swiftkit assured. "Swiftkit!" Moorstar called. Swiftkit turned around and nodded to the leader, then turned back to Snowkit and gave a reassuring smile, then Swiftkit bounded towards Red Tree. "May every cat old enough to run the moor gather around Red Tree!" Moorstar said, climbing the red leafed tree in the middle of the sandy hollow camp. Moorstar reached the branch that held any cat in the clan, and the lowest branch. "The time has come for one of our bravest, fastest, and loyalist kits in the clan, is now ready to become an apprentice!" Moorstar roared, "Swiftkit, please step forward." Swiftkit walked forward and sat in front of Red Tree. "Swiftkit, from this day forward, you will be know as Swiftpaw, and your mentor will be Blazerunner!" Moorstar said again as Blazerunner stepped forward and greeted his new apprentice. The clan started to chant, "Swiftpaw, Swiftpaw, Swiftpaw!" Snowkit sat from the nursery and quietly chanted, not happy. Swiftpaw would be in the apprentice den now. No more Moss Ball at night. No more elder stories during the day. No more being best pals. Swiftpaw would now be better friends with the apprentices and not the kits, because all apprentices think kits are lame. Snowkit pouted from the nursery and sulked back inside, not at all happy for his friend.

Image

Snowkit, soon became an apprentice, still being jealous with all of Swiftpaw's new friends. Funguspaw, Orchidpaw, Mosspaw, and Frostpaw were all friends he soon made, which they soon became warriors as well. Funguspaw and Orchidpaw were still only a moon older than Swiftpaw, and they were still apprentices. But, Moospaw soon became Mosspool, and Frostpaw soon became Frostfur. Snowpaw grew more jealous by the day, and it all came down to a training session in the Training Grotto.

"Swiftpaw, Snowpaw, the time has come to show your skills against each other. Are you ready?" Blazerunner said, as he padded over to Snowpaw's mentor, Thistlebrush, and sat down. The two apprentices nodded and swiftly moved over to each end of the training grotto, getting ready to fight. "I was waiting for this, Swiftpaw." Snowpaw hissed. Swiftpaw cocked his head to the side in confused, but before he could say anything, Snowpaw leaped forward and gave the battle his all. He rolled Swiftpaw onto his back. "Snowpaw! What are you doing?! This isn't a real fight! It's just a practice match!" Swiftpaw mewled at him worriedly. Snowpaw only sneered in response and started biting at Swiftpaw's neck, and clawing at his back. Swiftpaw yowled in pain as Snowpaw finally drew blood in his shoulder. "Snowpaw! Stop this instant!" Blazerunner howled, running towards the apprentices breaking them up. Swiftpaw was still wincing in pain as he stood up, blood dripping from his shoulder. "Let's get you back, Swiftpaw." Blazerunner said, helping the apprentice back to camp. Once they left, Thistlebrush walked over to Snowpaw, "WHAT IN THE NAME OF STARCLAN WAS THAT?!" He yowled. Snowpaw only huffed in response and turned his head away. Thistlebrush turned and walked back to camp, leaving his apprentice to his own. "Come back when you're ready." He hissed. Snowpaw only got more jealous and angry. He would knock Swiftpaw down someday.

Image

Snowpaw soon then became Snowstorm with more training, and more learning how to be loyal to his clan. Swiftpaw became Swiftwind soon before Snowpaw became Snowstorm. This leads to where Swiftwind then becomes deputy, because of when Snowstorm was found plotting to kill Blazerunner soon before Swiftwind was made deputy, and surely, he succeeded.

"Blazerunner.." Swiftwind mourned, sitting in front of the sinkhole in which his mentor died. The rain began to fall, pattering on the fur of few cats, and the soft green grass of the moor. Blazerunner was dead, and Moorstar was on his last life. It never had to end this way, but a certain someone thought otherwise. Snowstorm quietly padded forward, chuckling. "Tsk tsk tsk," He said, sarcastically, "What a shame he had to end this way.." Swiftwind growled and turned around. Rain still poured from above, soaking the two cats, everyone else had taken shelter of the camp, but Swiftwind needed more time. "You.." Swiftwind hissed, "You did this! You killed Blazerunner! You killed my mentor!" Snowstorm only laughed. As he laughed, thunder boomed, as if Starclan was punishing him, or the Dark Forest was laughing with him. Swiftwind screamed and lunged forward, tackling the snow white cat, pinning him down. "You'll pay for this!" Swiftwind yowled. "Ah, wouldn't do that if i were you," Snowstorm smiled, "Might be sent to the Dark Forest." Swiftwind stopped and thought about what he said, but shook it off. "That's a lie! If im avenging my mentor, Starclan will sure understand!" He said, slicing at the white cat's fur. Snowstorm dodged the incoming claws and kicked Swiftwind in the stomach, making him fly and slide near the sinkhole, almost falling in. Small rocks crumbled on the edge and dropped into the hole. Swiftwind breathed heavily as Snowstorm slowly started walking forward. The chocolate pointed tom stepped back, getting closer to the edge of the sinkhole. "haHA!" Snowstorm laughed, "Now, it's time for you to DIE! And I, the mighty Snowstorm, will become deputy of Breezeclan!" Swiftwind hissed and lunged forward again, making the edge of the sinkhole crackle and fall. The tom landed on the white cat. Hissing, Swiftwind nipped at his clanmate's ears and neck, giving off a warning, then slicing at his shoulder and back, leaving large gashes and giving the pointed tom bloody claws. Snowstorm pushed off Swiftwind with the last of his strength and started to retreat away from the sinkhole, the camp, and Breezeclan as a whole. Swiftwind panted, rain washing most of the blood off his thick fur, little did he know, that was not the last of Snowstorm.

Image

Snowstorm retreated into the woods and all the way to Twoleg place, taking refuge in some alleyways, becoming a rogue. The wounds on his ears, shoulder, and neck healed, but the back, not so much. Snowstorm was left with a nasty scar, a scar which was made by the current leader of Breezeclan. Snowstorm took these few years in Twoleg place to think, and take time to himself, realizing what he had done, and how he would try to change for the better. Soon, Snowstorm made his way back to Breezeclan, where Swiftwind was not deputy, but leader, and named Swiftstar. Moorstar was not there, Blazerunner was not there, Hollyberry was not there, and most importantly, Snowstorm was now there. Funguspaw was now Funguspool, with his apprentice Thawpaw. Snowstorm's mother, however, didn't remember Snowstorm at all. She was close to death and in the elders den. Snowstorm tried telling Swiftstar he had changed for the better, and at first, Swiftstar would not listen, but alas, his deputy, Sunpatch, told him to let Snowstorm have another chance. Snowstorm was accepted back into Breezeclan, and patching up all the damage he had done. Now, the story comes to an end, as we see Snowstorm living and currently back in his birth clan, changing for the better.

Cat Name: Dawn > Skytear > Whitedawn
    Gender: She-cat
    Age: 24 moons
    Clan: Galeclan
    Rank: Warrior
Scar: [ goes along with Duskheart's history ]
"Dusk!" Dawn mewled, lifting a paw to run after him as their larger littermates chased him away. One of her brothers looked down at her, eyes a hard glare and she shrunk low, closing her maw and silently watching as her dear brother dodged cars and the stomping paws of the owners that crowded the busy stone paths. She supposed she should be happy they weren't casting her out as well, they would make sure she was fed and safe! But... she still couldn't help the heaviness of her heart at the loss of her sibling.

She was sure she'd never see him again - cats just didn't survive in the stray place alone - but a mere moon later she got the shock of her life. There! A familiar black-tipped tail vanishing into an alley. She bounded after him, heart racing as she turned the corner only... it wasn't her brother. Instead, a small white-and-black dog's snarling muzzle met hers and she scrambled backwards with a yowl. As she turned to flee, the dog's teeth caught in her back, not enough purchase to catch her but enough to rake across her skin and pull a desperate, painful sound out of her. She ran and ran, lost in her wild flight away from the creature, until her paws bled and she collapsed in front of an abandoned owner den. The last thing she saw before she let exhaustion take her was the sharply angled and scarred face of a cat peering out of the den.

When she woke, she was surrounded by cats - Strayclan, they called themselves. They'd covered her wounds in some limp, half-rotten herbs that stung as she moved. She started to thank them for their help, but was interrupted by their leader, Tornstar. "No, no thank you's. You work for us now, until the debt of your life is repayed." She had no choice but to accept, renamed Skytear of Strayclan. Her wounds scarred over, and soon she began to look the part of a terrifying, feral cat. It wouldn't be until many, many moons later when her clan went to war with an actual clan of wild cats that she would see her brother again and rejoin him in Galeclan.

Scar: Blizzard got his scar from a pack of feral cats here how the story goes:

Blizzard was hunting one day, stalking a rat. The fat piece of prey skittered under a dumpster and out of sight when Blizzard heard it shriek. The old she-cat frowned, unsheathed her claws, and wriggled under the dumpster. "That's my prey!" she growled to whoever had taken it. "Not for long" answered a voice. Blizzard emerged into a group of three feral cats. One was a slim silver she-cat, one was a silver tabby tom, and the other was a young gray tabby with white paws and hints of tan. "Give me my prey back!" growled Blizzard. "Never." growled the tabby tom. "Reed," said the she-cat, "Giver her a last chance?" "Nope!" grinned the young tom. Blizzard bolted back under the dumpster but not before Reed's claws cut into her back deep. SHe ran for a while until her elderly legs collapsed under her. Blizzard had no medical expertise, so she could only use webs to stop the bleeding and her tounge to clean it, causing it to permanantly scar over.

F I R S T L I G H T
'to the moon'
firstlight | male | 16 moons | FrontierClan | council | sunlitsecrets
theme song

"Have you ever been to the moon?"

He asks his mother in a quiet, awed, voice, as they sit together, staring up at the sky one night. She smiles warmly, a bright feeling that makes him feel all fuzzy inside. He loves it.
. "No, not yet... I don't know if cats can go there, dear."
. His face furrows in determination. "Well then I'll be the first! I'll go up there and come back and tell you all about it!" He is so sure that he can get there, that nothing will ever go wrong, and as his mother looks on she doesn't have it in her to tell him the truth.
. "That sounds nice."

- - - -

He's five moons old and he's trying to climb a tree. And he's failing. Badly. His back paws are dangling off the branch he's hanging on to, 20 feet up in the air, and his mother is looking up at him in deep concern.
"Firstkit... are you okay up there? What are you doing?"
. "Mama!" he calls down, back paws waving in the breeze. "I'm gonna reach the moon!" His little claws scratch at the wood and he manages to pull himself a little further up. His back claws grip into the bark and his tail waves madly as he clambers onto the branch and prepares to go up to the next one.
. "You can't reach the moon like that, dear, you'll fall and hurt yourself," she says, trying to hold in her panic.
. "Nuh-uh!" he says, just as he starts to slip. His mother gasps in horror, sure she's about to see her son die, but he rights himself again and looks down at her. "Well, I guess it is a bit high up."
. "Of course it is! Get down here!"

- - -

When he's seven moons old, a new apprentice, he nearly drowns trying to swim into the reflection of the moon in the lake. It's so incredible, so mystifying, that he can't help but try and get down there, just to see if perhaps this is the way to finally get a glimpse the place he's wanted to get to his whole life.
. He swims deeper and deeper, determined to get to the glint of light, not paying attention to the way he's running out of air, or the way his vision is getting darker...
. Firstpaw is only saved by his mentor dragging him out of the water, coughing and gasping. He gets a stern talking to from his mother, his mentor, and the leader about not putting his life at risk any longer.
. Of course, Firstpaw doesn't care. He has a goal he wants to achieve one day, and he's willing to face anything to do that for his mother.

- - - -

At nine moons old he's become almost entirely nocturnal. He stays up at night, staring at the moon, and his mother can't seem to stop him anymore. Her interest has become his obsession, and it's rose to even higher heights than she ever thought possible.
. One day something horrible is going to happen, she can feel it. And when it does, her son will never be the same. It's like he's forgotten that death is a possibility, and he gets more reckless as time goes on.

- - - -

When he's twelve moons old, a newly made warrior, Firstlight decides he wants to go on a journey. He wants to see if there's a way to the moon elsewhere in the wide open spaces of the world. His mother, knowing there's no stopping him, decides to come along. Her son means everything to her, and if going on some crazy adventure is what he needs to do, she'll go along with that.
. They set off the next day. Their Clan will never see them again.

- - - -

When he's fourteen moons old, they reach the territory of a new Clan. They're stopped at the border by a motley crew of cats and he isn't interested, not at first, but then they mention the void and his curiosity overtakes him.
. "Can I see this void for myself?" he says. And the leader agrees.
. Her name is Wildstar, he hears, and she takes him to the Clan's camp. It's late, she says, so she'll take him there in the morning. "It's only a short ten minute walk from here, but it's fairly dangerous. Don't want you falling down on accident."
. Firstlight hears her, he pretends to agree, with such a practiced nod that even his dear mother is fooled.
. They sleep with the rest of the Clan. Firstlight waits until he's sure everyone else is asleep... and then he sneaks out. With quiet footsteps, he makes his way to the edge of camp, slides through the bushes, and heads straight for the void.
. This could be the answer to all his questions.

He treks through the forest for ten minutes until he finds it.

First almost falls off because it's so abrupt. A sudden drop off into nothing. The trees halt and there's nothing but mist, far below. He leans over the edge, peers down into the abyss... and he sees something wonderful.
. There's a glimmer of white, far below. Could that be... the moon? Was that the way to reach the moon, at long last?
. Firstlight is reckless, so of course he does the crazy thing. He takes a few steps back and prepares to jump down.
. There's a rustle in the forest behind him. "Firstlight, what are you doing?" he hears. His mother has come, she wants to stop him from reaching the moon, but nothing can stop him now -

He jumps. And his mother, desperate to save her son, jumps after him.
. First makes it out alive. His mother does not.
. His pelt gets snagged on a branch partway down, the sharp wood sticking into his back. it stops him from falling to his doom long enough for Wildstar and the others to rescue him in the morning. His mother, on the other hand... she falls straight down, into the mist.
. He will never hear from her again.

- - - -

His back takes a moon to heal before he can properly run again. The thorns were so far in that the herbalist... Flameflicker, wasn't it? ... says that he'll have a permanent scar, possibly even always a slight ache there. But Firstlight doesn't care. For one shining moment, he saw the moon in the mist.
. It was completely worth it.

xxxThe white she-cat trudged through the mountain range, her small group just ahead. She was about the age of a young warrior, yet, she had to make this treacherous journey. Rain buffeted their pelts, the cold wind battered their ears and lowered their spirits. Her and her brother trudged after the others, tail dragging in the mud and leaf mulch, eyes dull with exhaustion. Suddenly, the group stopped and she slammed straight into a brown tabby's legs. "What was that for?" She demanded, her damp pelt pricking with irritation. "Hush." Whispered the tabby, who stayed eerily still. Wrinkling her nose, she suddenly realized the entire group stood frozen to the spot, looking around wildly, eyes wide, ears pricked. When she did the same, she drew in a sharp gasp. "It sounds like a river!" The thick scent of mud and earth filled her lungs as she inhaled. A yowl sliced through the humid air; a warning. "Mudslide!"

xxxEverest had heard nursery tales of such things from where she came from, travelers telling of mud rushing down the side of a mountain, sucking up unfortunate animals in its path. Now one was heading straight towards her. She had barely anytime to react when it came hurdling towards her, blood roaring in her ears as she leaped up onto the nearest tree, clawing her way upwards and clinging onto the nearest branch. She watched in pure horror as it rushed past, washing away her brother, surrounding her tree and the ground around it. There was nowhere to go. The young tree swayed beneath her weight and the continuous force of the mud and debris as it pounded against the tree and soon, it began to creak. Everest let out a wordless wail as it fell towards the raging brown monster beneath her.
Image
xxxThe tree landed with a splat as it hit the mud, mud clung and stained her white pelt as it splashed against her. She clung to the tree, a feeling of dread and helplessness washing over her as she flew quickly downhill on the mud, which threatened to drag her and the tree underneath at any moment. Still struggling to stay on the slowly sinking tree, the mud was almost down the mountain now, heading towards a huge river. She had to get out soon. Ahead of her, a large rock jutted out out the ground. Surely she could make it? Managing to heave herself up onto her paws, she crept slowly towards the end of it until she was just by the roots. Bunching up her muscles, she leaped, just missing and landing in the mud, halfway up the rock. She gritted her teeth, struggling to stay on top of the rock. Seemingly out of nowhere, more debris came down the mudslide, bringing rocks and branches. Just as she was almost up, a rock slammed against her flank drawing blood and causing a nasty wound. She yowled, heaving herself onto the rock and collapsing, her flanks heaving with effort, but now, she was safe.
Image
xxx"--And that's how I got my scar." The elder croaked, looking down at the two apprentices, who stared wide-eyed up at the old white she-cat. The first apprentice, a dark ginger she-cat, looked completely in awe. "You got your scar from that?" She chirped, her yellow-green eyes glittering. "Palecloud is so cool!" Mewed the smaller apprentice; a brown and white tabby. Palecloud chuckled, looking at the two as they chattered like birds. The tabby leaned forward, examining the scar. "Does it hurt?" She leaned forward, touching it lightly with her paw. Palecloud let out an exaggerated groan and flopped on the ground. The little she-cat shrieked. "Harepaw! Look what you did!" Snapped the ginger she-cat, scrambling over to examine the elder. She jumped up to her paws. "Raaaaaaw!" The two of them yowled in surprise, jumping backwards. She settled back down in her mossy nest. "I'm just teasing. It only does when it starts getting cold, it hurt my back so that's why I walk funny sometimes." She could remember the first time she walked after getting injured, she had a small dip in her back and had sort of a stumble, but could still walk and hunt. It was hard to get used to, but she managed.
Image
Eventually, the apprentices finished cleaning her den, leaving her alone with her thoughts. Palecloud shivered at the thought of what might have happened if she had not been so quick-witted. Where would she be now? Alone? Dead?

Cat Name: Whitestar
Gender: Tom
Age: 43 moons
Clan: HurricaneClan
Rank: Leader
Scar: Rain fell onto the ground heavily, creating tiny scoops in the earth with each hit. The water would splash onto the leaves of ferns and other foliage, dripping off the thick waxy leaves. Water surged heavily from the streams of the bayou, bubbling and swirling in circles as it ravaged over the ground, flooding the areas that were once patches of land. Whitefur scrambled up a tree, his claws raked against the wet bark of the cypress, stinking and burning with effort. He bared his teeth as he pushed through it. Where was Pelicanstar? The large tom was nowhere to be found. The patrol he was with watched him from under the tree, murky water pouring in over their paws. Whitefur had no time to sit there and play staring games. He needed to find Pelicanstar. He pushed forward until he reached what appeared to be a sturdy branch with enough strength to hold him up. He clambered across the branch, each step slippery and risking a hard fall into the water. It was black under him, leaves whips out from the trees and bushes and fell into it, getting lost in its whirlpooling mess.
This patrol started to take to the trees as well, yowls of protest against the storm pierced his ears and gave him a break from the howling wind that battered them otherwise. Taking his chance, Whitefur launched himself to the next cypress over, and then the next. Hitting the branch, he felt his claws peel away the bark as he slipped, a wild yowl escaping from his mouth. Panic surged through his body just as deadly as the water below. He swung his free arm up, hooking onto a small knot. Using all of his might, Whitefur pulled himself up, his muscles screaming out with agony. Scrambling to the branch, he paused only for a heart beat to catch his breath. His right shoulder was searing with pain. He pushed forward again. This time, he was feeling a little dizzy and wasn't too sure if he even should keep going. He was starting to doubt himself. Certainly he wouldn't be able to reach Pelicanstar even if he found him... right?
It didn't matter. As clan deputy, it was his job. Despite the antagonizing pain, he leapt again to the next tree, a spindly cedar elm. As his weight hit a branch, leaves and twigs whipped his face, stinging them. Letting out a hiss, he managed to catch sight of a soaked, cream colored blob of fur, cornered on top of a flooding patch of land. A large alligator was in front, the creature was hissing and snapping at the cream furred animal as it slashed back at the alligator's leathery snout.
"Pelicanstar!" Whitefur yowled, flinging himself downward. Just when he thought he judged himself well, the limb he handed on gave away, sending him crashing down into the water! Darkness flooded over his eyes and his body grew cold. A salty tang of mud and weed filled his mouth. A little disoriented, Whitefur kicked his paws out, failing them at first. He knew he needed to remain calm. He forced his eyes closed and his lungs were screaming for air already. Clawing his way up, Whitefur broke the surface with a loud gasp. The alligator tool barely any notice of him nd was still too focused on Pelicanstar. Swimming over, Whitefur fought against the current until he felt his claws hit mud. Digging himself in, he used it to pull himself up next to Pelicanstar. He realized how weak his leader looked, his fur plastered down to his rather bony body.
"Thank you for coming, Whitefur," Pelicanstar mewed, backing up and away from the alligator as it lunged at him. Whitefur went for it, slashing at its eye. The alligator let out a roar, opening up its massive mouth, flashing its teeth at Whitefur! It turned on him, heading toward his way. Pelicanstar too the opportunity to go for it again, slashing and clawing at it's other eye. Whitefur jumped up at onto it, the massive creature swinging its big head around the other way. Pelicanstar let out a high pitched yowl as he went in along with the alligator, his paw stuck in its skin. Whitefur jumped down next to his leader, grabbing onto the cat's leg and pulling. In a sudden burst, the alligator flicked his head to the side, catching Pelicanstar and narrowly missing Whitefur. Pelicanstar shrieked with a sound Whitefur had never heard before, blood began to spill over their pelts as they fought. Whitefur let go of his leader and went for the eyes again.
"Whitefur, just go! Save yourself! Save the Clan!" The old leader howled, feeling himself being dragged back down as the alligator pulled away.
"No, Pelicanstar! I have to save you!" He mewed, feeling his claws barely break the skin. Something painful clawed onto his back, he hissed, feeling his skin rip and tear. A force of pressure hit his lower back, pressing the ripping claws deeper into him. The alligator pushed away from the land, pulling them both down. Water filled his head once again and the tearing pain returned, this time hitting him twice. He realized it was Pelicanstar using his hind paws to grab him and pull him off the monster lizard. A thud hit him away a final time, causing him to lose the little grip he had. His body burned and ached. Whitefur felt himself float up to the top of the water, his blood warming the water around him. He paddled the rest of the way up to the surface, breaking it once again with a large gulp of air. He dragged himself up onto the land, his heart pounding in his chest. Wind started to batter him instantly. Getting up to all four of his paws, he forced himself to scale the cedar tree, reaching a sturdy branch. His whole body was shaking violently, but he had to keep going. By now, his patrols had found him, bouncing from tree to tree. A lithe she-cat met him and grabbed his scruff. A large, long-haired tom joined in on the other side and slipped himself under white warrior. Whitefur's vision began to blot away, disappearing all together. In moments, he was gone.

Stars and mist swirled around Whitefur, the tears on his back managed to heal into long, red scabs. He looked around for his medicine cat with them nowhere to be found. Anxiety began to prickle his pelt. Where was everyone? Did Pelicanstar survive? Was he being punished?
He looked around, stepping through the glittering atmosphere until the familiar figure of Pelicanstar approached him, looking stronger and more beautiful than ever. He realized how handsome of a cat he must have been in his youth and gave out a soft purr. His leader looked so confident!
"Whitefur," He mewed, his deep voice felt like it was soaking itself into Whitefur's body, warming him like a beautiful melody sung by a mockingbird. "You have made me so proud, and I don't think I could have ever made a better decision than making you my deputy. What you did that day of the storm was truly brave and somewhat foolish." He started, padding closer to Whitefur. He didn't care how foolish it was, he was just happy to see Pelicanstar. The creamy tom touched his nose to Whitefur's head. "And so, with this life, I am giving you wisdom. Use it to lead your Clan well and make rational decisions."
A strong sense of timely knowledge flew through him, as if he knew the secrets of the world and all of StarClan's history. He felt confident and sure of himself, and was broken hearted when Pelicanstar stepped away with another cat padding up behind him for their chance to grant Whitefur- no, Whitestar- with his second life.

The house was completely silent, all sources of light off. It was late in the evening, almost midnight, and the one two-leg present in the home had retreated to their bedroom for the night to enjoy a slumber that would last until the sun rose. The two cats in the house, however, couldn't be anymore awake. The two of them sat on the window sill, one leaning to the left, and the other to the right, holding the crimson shaded curtains back from shielding the one source of light that the two felines could see; the moon. The light that shone down was a dim white, but enough to make out the outline of the branches of nearby trees, and an occasional bird that soared by, chirping late into the night. The light reflected off the eyes of both of the cats, the icy blue ones shifting to face the white tom.

"Blizzard, don't you ever wish you could go out there?" The she-cat asked in a quiet, soft voice, not wanting to scare the tom. He seemed to hate her enough as is; she certainly didn't want him to hate her more. The tom answered with a grunt, not even budging from his position against the curtain. The she-cat huffed out a long sigh of annoyance, her eyes averting away from the vibrant white pelt of the tom. "Well, I do. It's always too hot or too cold in this place. Don't you like the cold breeze at your paws as we sit up here?" She said as her head tilted down to the tom's paws, which were positioned in front of the window, which was open just enough to let some of the crisp and cool air flow into the house. The tom then spoke, his voice deep, relaxing to the ears.

"Of course I do. It is refreshing. But I enjoy being pampered to in this place. That old two-leg loves us." Blizzard replied, peering over his shoulder. He gazed at the set of umber wooden stairs behind him, the ones that led up to the bedroom where their owner resided. "Heath, if we go out there, we risk getting.. hurt. Or ran over by one of those massive block things that takes us to the vet." The tom said dramatically, his voice emphasized, and his eyes widening for effect. His legs were tensed, and his shoulders were pinched forward towards the she-cat. "Surely even you, Heath, are not foolish enough to go beyond this glass." The tom rose one of his paws up, pressing his pink paw pad against the cool surface. When he looked back at the she-cat, what he saw was a daunting grin, one that seemed to challenge the tom's point silently.

"Perhaps I am a fool, Blizzard. Are you just a coward, in that case?" Heath asked with a taunting tone as she rose to her paws, her head leaned forward slightly towards the tom as her long fluffy tail coiled around the edge of the curtain to keep it from shielding the window. The fur of Blizzard's spine began to raise as he became frustrated with the she-cat.

"I am not a coward. Want me to prove it?!" Blizzard hissed out, raising to his paws as well. He then turned towards the window, his eyes surveying the area before he began to speak, his gaze not leaving the terrain beyond the glass. There were a variety of trees, the majority covered by large green leaves, while some were pine trees, covered by sharp, thin, green blades that mimicked the grass that covered the ground. He then parted his lips, speaking in a cold, purposely intimidating voice. "You see that first tree over there? The one closest to here?" He gestured to the tree with his nose, and Heath nodded, staring intently at the tree. "I bet I can climb to the top of it, and you can't. If you win, we will go outside every night. If I win, we will never leave this house again. Understand?" Heath's pupils dilated as she stared at the tom for a moment, then a grin plastered across her muzzle.

"That's the best challenge you got? Bring it on, furball!" She howled out, her eyes glinting in excitement as she slid her paws beneath the frame of the window. The window was old, much older than either of the cats, so naturally, it was easy to slide up. As the window was lifted, it made a horrible creaking sound, a high pitched one that caused both cats to fold their ears down. Once it was just high enough for the two felines to slip out, they did, landing on a concrete patio. There were four chairs on the patio, positioned in a circle formation around a brown metal bowl, charred twigs scattered on the inside from previous bonfires. The unfamiliar fresh air flooded the nostrils of the two felines, and they both let out sighs of enjoyment before making their way towards the base of the tree.

Once at the base of the tree, Heath rose her head up, looking at how high the branches went. "This is gonna be fun. When we, I mean, I reach the top, I'll be able to touch the moon." The thought made Heath bound up and down happily, until she felt a set of piercing eyes lock on her flank, which resulted in her crouching. "You ready for this, Blizzard? Or are you gonna go back inside and wait to start coming out here every night?" Heath asked with a taunting grin, hoping to get into the tom's head. His eyes only shone with annoyance as he turned back to the tree.

"Please. I've never been more ready for anything in my life." With that, the two cats flung themselves forward, their claws digging into the bark. The two felines made their way up, their claws chipping bark off from the tree, sending the chunks flying to the ground. The two continued at the same pace, reaching the first branch at the same time. However, Heath gained more momentum and flung herself past Blizzard. He stayed not even a tails-lengths behind her though, his muzzle parted as he gasped for air. Heath made a jump too low for her liking, and slammed her paw against Blizzard's shoulder, giving her the height she needed to land on the next branch successfully.

Blizzard let out a grunt as he just missed the branch, his claws digging into the side of it as he clung onto it helplessly. He looked up at the she-cat, who seemed to not notice his struggle as she continued to climb her way up. "Heath! Heath, I'm gonna fall!" The tom cried out, but to no avail.

"Ha, yeah right! You're just trying to trick me!" The she-cat landed on a branch two branches above the one Blizzard was clinging to, and instantly her eyes widened. "Blizzard! Blizzard, I'm coming for you!" The she-cat leaped down in a panicked fashion, jumping branch to branch until she landed on the one Blizzard was clinging to. Her head tilted down, her muzzle clamping around his scruff as she attempted to drag the tom onto the branch. He began to slip from her grasp, and Heath swung her paw down, her claws digging into his lower spine to keep a firmer grasp on him. The claws sunk in deep, and as he slipped further from her grasp, the length of the wounds only got longer. One thought crossed the tom's mind; that is going to leave a mark.

A loud screech of agony escaped the tom's muzzle, continuing until he thrashed himself out of her grasp. He fell a couple of tail's lengths, landing on the branch below the one Heath was standing on with another howl of agony. He tilted his head back, gasping in pain as he laid on his back on the branch, his eyes facing the house. He saw a light flicker on, and instantly chills ran down his spine as the she-cat's voice rang in his mind.

"Blizzard, are you okay?!" She yelled from the branch above, peering over the wood to look at him. He nodded, then gestured towards the house with a head tilt. The she-cat squeaked, her eyes widening in fear. "She's awake! We have to get back in!" Heath jumped down to the branch Blizzard was on, grabbed him by the scruff, and quickly made her way down. Once at the base, the two ran towards the patio where the window was cracked open. A door to their left creaked open before they could climb up into the house.

Their two-leg, an old women in her late sixties with silver hair down to her shoulders that shone on the moonlight, wearing a purple robe that barely covered her scrawny body, stood on the porch. She let out a gasp when she saw Blizzard, and briefly retreated into the house, returning with a vibrant scarlet towel. She staggered forward, hunched forward, as it had become difficult to perform quick tasks at her age. She coiled the towel around Blizzard and lifted him off the ground, looking at Heath disapprovingly before running off to her car. As Blizzard was carried away, he shot a glare back at Heath, their eyes briefly locking before the two-leg rounded the corner, out of Heath's sight.
