altines (called tines for short) are a species of furry, omnivorous mammal native to colder climates. they range in size from dog-sized to tiger-sized and are very social creatures. there are three classes of altines based on size and hormonal levels: domestic, stock, and feral. domestic are the smallest and most submissive class and will never have manes; stock are the standard class and will occasionally have manes; feral are the most dominant and aggressive class and will always have manes. all altines have a mask-pattern on their face; there has never been and will never be an altine without a mask. the most interesting thing about altines are their tails. each altine's tail is in fact a individual, sentient galaxy! the tails can be good, neutral, or evil in alignment and influence the altine in actions and beliefs. are you willing to take one home?

personality: nico tucks himself away, behind his ridiculous collection of books that at this point probably constitutes as an library. he has a hard time communicating with other altine's, but with books, it's a completely different story. nico loves to lose himself in fantastical adventures, or gain knowledge about statistics or astronomy. his research skills are top notch. his social skills, on the other hand, could use some work.

he exudes similar traits to that of a librarian. he values silence and tends to act more reserved, especially towards those he is unfamiliar with. this, unfortunately (or fortunately), causes a great deal of misunderstandings. his exterior attitude is often mistaken for coldness or rudeness, which intimidates a good lot of altines. in the end, nico spends the majority of his time in the company of dusty books and his many plants.

Hiyatt is an overload in the best ways possible; emotionally and sometimes, very rarely, physically. What do I mean by overload? He's extra to the point of an existential crisis; for everyone around him. Hiyatt is sassy and easily confused; his confusion often leads up to an aggressive retort of 'I'm not confused, you're the confused one' and, well, he usually refuses to believe that he's ever the one in wrong when it comes to arguments. Even when he's not winning, he's winning.

Despite not ranking higher in the food chain, he still struts his stuff and has an unbearable load of dominance that he carries around on his shoulders. Once again, despite this, he does know when to be respectful and it's rather impressive how well he can perform when he wants to.
