Name: Lumeria
Gender: Female
Gender for breeding purposes: Female
Prompt:
The dazzling night began to spread over the earth, and all was calm. A small viscling lay to rest in a large, wet cave. A night-dweller she was; almost about to wake. She was all alone. She had been all alone for, well, as long as she could remember. Only a few years old she was. She was very mature and could fend for herself better than any other viscling her age. She had to protect herself. She didn't have a choice.
When night had covered most the sky, it was dark outside. But it was darker in the cave. She liked it that way. That is why she chose the cave over any tree or bush or anything really. The cave was darker, darker than the night. She could see better. Her eyes were used to it. She could see in the light too, but she didn't really like it. She disliked the colors. The bright, distinct colors showed their true selves at night. She disliked the sun that reminded her she was all alone.
All of the lasting daylight was put out swiftly. Alas, the once beautiful bright blue sky turned icky like tar on a road. Black. Dull. Unexciting. The clouds covered the attractiveness that the night sky held. The stars was unseen behind sheets of heavy, unforgiving clouds. Though the stars glow not, one thing did indeed shine. The pelt of the young viscling shimmered with every hint of moonlight that shown through the cracks between the blanket of clouds.
Lumeria was that visclings name. Named by a bird who passed by every so often. A friend of hers? No. An acquaintance? Maybe, but that is still stretching it even. They only had ever said a few things to each other before the bird passed away. The bird had shown some concern the first encounter. Gave her a name the second, and they exchanged small talk the third and fourth time. Not a lot of interaction it was, but it was far more than any other creature she had ever seen.
Lumeria had awaken finally. Her surroundings were dark and were almost faded because the dark. She had had "nightmares" that day she slept. They were common and she feared them every night. But she would not fear them in the morning. Instead, she was calm. It was a personal rule of hers to not drag things on. So she let some fear engulf her thoughts at before her rest, but she did not address that fear in the morning. In place of that fear, she distracted her mind, and so she was at peace. As she emerged from the cave she called home, she was tranquil and undisturbed, just like every morning.
