As guests for the party started to arrive, Jesper found himself headed to the attic for his second punch bowl and more treats for those who had come. His supply was running rather low downstairs, the crowd having been larger than anticipated.
He fumbled in the dark with a flashlight, trying to find the box where he had put all the extra potions and things he had received from the witches. As he searched the light caught the movement of a wagging tail.
Curious and confused Jesper moved deeper into the attic, footsteps light and the flashlight trained carefully on that wagging tail. He peered around a box and saw a little creature perhaps the size of his head laying there, munching happily on a Candy Horn item. The box of treats was toppled over beside it.
"Goodness gracious!!" he screamed, climbing onto something rather sturdy, he didn't exactly know what it was he stood on but it raised him up and away from that..thing. The creature heard the noise and immediately jumped up in alert, then smiled and started wagging its tail again before running around near him and yipping happily. Soon after a small army of them started running around the empty space of the attic.
Jesper looked wide-eyed at all the little critters. He couldn’t have them running wild at his party! What was he to do?
He tentatively stepped down and noticed how the little black one with candy corn stripes came right up to him and nuzzled him, and an idea came. If they were friendly, why not adopt them out? It was ingenious! And it would save him the trouble of having to keep them away from his guests.
"O-Oh good you're here!! Thank the heavens you've arrived! I sure hope that I'm doing the right thing with these little guys.. they're just so cute..but I can't keep them all here!!" he takes you aside and points to the small creature that seemed to have taken a liking to him. "I think this one is their leader.."
The creature bounced up and down, hopping next to Jesper with excitement.
"I can't house the rest of them, but maybe you can! As soon as I catch and collect these little cuties, I'll be sure to let you know!"
