xxxxNagisa took a deep breath and readied his ribbon. His livelihood rested upon his performances, living day to day traveling, dancing in the street for coins. He kept on the move, never settling in one place – people get to used to the act otherwise. No money, no food. He sighed to himself, why did he decide to do this again? Oh yeah, because he wanted to prove he was better than the rest of his village. He comes from a small village of farmers, it’s a simple living, but it pays enough to live happily and keep food on the table. He honestly was missing that right about now. But no matter. He shook his head and began to dance.
xxxxHis ribbon twirled round and round as he lept from place to place, moving it dramatically around his body, never letting the ribbon hit the ground. After a little while, and thinking that he had drawn enough people, he came to rest in his routine and took a bow. There was applause from the people that gathered. Nagisa smiled. This is what kept him from going home. This was the most satisfying part of all, even above getting the money or food. The Applause. The Approval. The Joy.
xxxxNagisa took a deep bow and motioned to the coin box in front of him, “If you enjoyed what you see today, please! Help keep me dancing with a bit of your time and a little of your money.”
xxxxA few people threw in some coins, “Thank you so much!” He said with a smile.
xxxxAfter the crowd had cleared, Nagisa picked up his box to go buy some food with. Today was a better day than many, but it still wasn’t a very substantial amount.
xxxxNagisa sat down with the food he bought. I hope I’m making Akane proud. She’s the one that inspired me to do this – follow my dreams. He pondered for a moment. I should probably stop back every once in a while, I’m sure my family misses me… And I miss Akane, she’s like an older sister to me – to everyone really.
xxxxNagisa nodded to himself. I think I’ll do just that. He thought, starting the trek home for a well-deserved reunion.
