- eventually, all three were adopted by preston and his family
- rye was at first distant and acted rudely towards his new family, especially preston
- preston and minnow helped rye uncover his gender identity (he had previously gone by his birthname rosemary and used she/her)
- ^ rye became a lot closer to his new parents after this and is now undergoing transition
