Personality: Very sweet and gentle, this girl has a kind heart. She is mellow and plays occasionally. She's always looking out for others and trying to take care of everyone's needs. She is so giving and trusting. She exudes a tremendous amount of love onto everyone.
Story: (Sila's perspective) I was a mother of a large litter. I had ten pups to take care of and only one of me. This was when I was a stray. During a time where I was alone and had to fend for my babies and myself. I put my pups before myself and never thought I would end up with all of my pups gone and in a family of many other dogs. The night of the attack was one I will never forget. I remember going out hunting for food for my pups and I had killed a weak deer. After that, a bobcat came up from behind me because it was attracted to the fresh kill I had just gotten. I stood my ground and it pounced at me first. I dodged the first few blows swiftly but then it struck me in the face and clawed me in the eye. I fell to the ground and blacked out. I could no longer fend for my pups. When I awoke, I was in a metal cage and far away from my pups. I cried out for help and tried to escape but I couldn't. My pups were no where near me and I was freaked out. My pups were defenseless and out on their own. I cried for many nights and refused to eat or drink for weeks. The humans had to force feed me. I had no will to live. After a month of being in captivity, I was adopted by an owner of many baltics. On her ranch, I met many new friends, but none could repair my broken heart. I still have nightmares about the attack and struggle to sleep on my own.
How does she cope with it?: (my perspective) When I adopted Sila, I soon realized her night terrors. She can't sleep alone so usually she sleeps by my side or she sleeps with the rest of the dogs. I have to pet her constantly for her to fall asleep. To cope with losing her pups, she is constantly mothering the other dogs. When other moms give birth, she is the first one to take care of the pup. She can't stay away from pups. Since she never got to see her pups grow up, she has this huge void in her heart and she can't help but love everyone she is around. She takes care of everyone's needs and is always putting others first. She is the very last to eat out of all of my dogs and if another wants some of her food, she gladly gives it up. You can see the sadness in her heart but she is so desperately trying to cover it up and exude love and kindness.
How do I help?: To try to make Sila happier, I cuddle with her a lot and praise her all the time. I try to keep her constantly with my younger dogs and with ones of her own age. I also give her plenty of my own love to lift her spirits. She loves watching the nature channel on tv so I turn that on for her on rainy days when she doesn't want to go outside. I gave her a comfy bed and let her sleep with me which she likes. I also got her a soft blankie which she loves to be wrapped up in. Eventually when she's happier, I plan on pairing her up with one of my boys to get her some pups.

Personality: Angelic in nature, she is very caring and loves to please her owner, she plays with other dogs and enjoys being around horses, she loves boats and fishing especially, she's forever bringing back a fish that she has caught from some lake.
How She Got Her Injury: North spent her first few years looking after young children and working as a fishing dog with a family in portugal. One day though the family's boat collided with another and North was hit by stray bits of wood that flew into her face. She was knocked unconscious and lost the sight in her right eye. Nobody else on either boats was severly hurt though
How She Copes: At first she struggled with not being able to see out of both eyes, she was quite wobbly on her feet and kept buping into things. She spooked ore easily and unfortunately started to have epileptic fits meaning she was unable to stay with the family she grew up with as she was not able to work as a fishing dog. She was put up for adoption and spent many months lying in the corner of a cage hoping her family would come back to collect her, the adoption centre was not told that she had epilepsy and couldnt understand what she was suffering from. North was sent to a doctor who diagnosed her finally and gave her tablets that helped stop the epilepsy but she would have to take them for the rest of her life. The adoption centre removed her from adoption for a while to keep an eye on her and to see how she coped with the medication. Eventually though she was able to be put up for adoption again.
This is when i found her, her advert popped up on my screen one day and i knew as soon as i saw her i had to have her. Even though she was still lying in the corner of the cage when i went to visit, i managed to encourage her to come to me and sniff my hand, i ran my fingers across her fur and she nuzzled close to me seeking comfort. It just melted my heart and i couldnt leave her behind. She would be a great yard dog and if possible i could train her in agility if she took a fancy to it.
Coming home that first day was a miriad of excitement and nervousness for the both of us, i was not sure how she would react to horses but thankfully she fell in love at first sight and she has settled in with them and the rest of the dogs i own.
Her medication is easy enough to keep up on top of and i have yet to experience one of her epileptic fits.
She is a lovely dog, sweet natured, inquisitive and energetic. Her energy seems unlimited as noone and nothing can tire her out, such a difference to how i saw her at the adoption centre. I am glad she is living life again regardless of her disability and hope to start training her in agility soon enough.
