The trailer rattled to a harsh stop as Rose shut the door. She sighed, rolling her eyes at the rattling vehicle. The ranch was long overdue for a new trailer. This one was on its last legs - or wheels. The woman's wavy brown hair fell messily to her shoulders as she pulled out several folded papers from her pocket. The paper rustled as she unfolded it, her eyes scanning the document. It read in neat print:

There was more on the paper but Rose didn't read it. She had read it before, just as she was leaving. Earlier the woman had looked at the mares & foals, adopting a pair of mares and their foals of her own. The ranch owner had informed her that the filly was of the same pedigree as the foals, just an earlier generation.
"Ahh, Miss Rose, you've arrived." A friendly, masculine voice distracted the woman from her thoughts. "I had hoped you would arrive soon. We are in desperate need of the stable space."
Rose blinked and smiled at the man. "Thank you. I am honored to be adopting from you yet again - the mares and their foals are just precious. I would be honored to own another of their lineage." The woman said, carefully folding the filly's papers again and placing them in her pocket. "I'd like to see the filly, if that's okay." She gestured towards the rather gallant looking barn as a pair of sparrows raced out of the window in the loft.
"Ah, of course. After you, miss." The man replied, clearly comfortable in her presence, for she had been to his ranch many times before. He followed and directed her to a stall in the far left corner of the barn, under an archway that declared "Yearlings" in bold golden letters, covered in a thin film of dust. The man scowled momentarily at the dirtiness and quickly shoved the angry expression away to follow the woman. Rose had her hand gently stroking the velvety nose of a bright perlino-red filly, whose bright seafoam eyes gazed calmly back at her. The filly did not seem unnerved at all in Rose's presence and instead she pushed her nose forward eagerly, as if enjoying the attention.
"She had a rough weaning. Her dam didn't help out with weaning and instead babied her, despite her next foal coming in a matter of months. She enjoys the attention." The man said quietly, letting the pair acquaint themselves. The filly nickered softly as Rose's hands gently massaged her face.
