His favorite companion, to him, has always been the one that had affected his life the most.



From the day he came across this boy, he knew something was different about him.

He’d first met the boy when he was eight years old. Riley, he heard others call him. He wasn’t much, a small boy with blonde hair and an oversized sweater, but somehow that made Vaas feel safe.
His arrival for the boy was a surprise at first, scaring the poor kid senseless. It took a while for him to get used to the small creature, but after a while, Riley adored him. He relied on Vaas for comfort during storms when his parents weren’t around, and he was there when Riley needed him most.

As the years went by, Vaas watched Riley grow.

Vaas generally kept to the house where Riley lived, until one day when the boy was twelve and they were moved to his relative’s home. He noticed the boy grew more nervous and self-kept after that day, and he was determined to be his guardian. Determined to keep him happy and safe.

More years passed, and he kept growing.

Vaas watched as Riley grew from that sheltered young boy to a young adult, helping his uncle with things in the shop and growing a little more confident with himself. He was always there for the boy, there to keep him safe and to comfort him when things got rough. He was always that same gentle young boy he had met many years ago, the young boy who felt special.

He was there when the boy turned twenty, having become a fine young man rather than the quiet young boy he had met twelve years ago. He cared for him all the same, and watched as he headed off to help his uncle as he usually did. He waited for the boy to come back.

Riley did not return.

Days passed, and Vaas grew more and more worried. After one final day of waiting, he decided to tag along with Riley’s uncle to see what had happened.

It was then he found out Riley was gone. Just like that, the boy he had watched over had been taken from life.

And for the first time

he wept.

- borbs are a personal species, please nobody make their own. ;v;
Doodle is a borb, a species native to the planet Thaumasia. Doodle was one of the first borbs to be successfully transported to earth. Unfortunately, she was alone in this transport and at the time was only a hatchling. Aspen, at the time, was a growing teenager and happened upon the tiny hatchling. In fact, had she not been paying attention to where she was stepping, she would have crushed the tiny jellybean-sized creature. Aspen was also alone, and decided to care for the small critter. Doodle and Aspen haven't been apart since.

Aspen sees Doodle as a best friend, someone she can always count on. The two travel around together and enjoy the earth, looking out for one another along the way. Their relationship is beneficial to both of them, Aspen helping doodle with traveling, escaping humans, and getting used to earth life while Doodle provides a solid friendship, protection, and a purpose. Protection? Borbs are able to mimic noises and growls they've heard before from predators, a tool that allows them to defend themselves on Thaumasia. If a predator is around, Doodle is easily able to loudly echo noises she knows will terrify whatever beast is coming after them.

Overall, the two have a fantastic relationship and help one another out.
