How does she cope: Well, she is friends with Sora my South Island Fjord. Sora helps Virginia get around when her hearing is not doing well. Other times though, she can get around on her own. Virginia has learned to use her hearing as her eyes. She uses echolocation when she is galloping so you will ofen hear little whinnys as she finds her way around. Virginia has gotten so good at useing her hearing and trusting others that she now jumps whithout being frightend! None of this would have happend if it wasnt for Sora and Virginia's nice owner. (Pluse the other horses!)

How does she cope: Lady's owners were very devoted to keeping her safe. She was weaned, at 8 months old. Her owners made her own pasture with a connected box stall that was completely custom for her. Bark was layed 5 feet around every obstacle in the pasture. 5 foot circles around trees, bark was 5 feet to the fences and anything she could run into. Then Lady was introduced to a buddy mare, who helped her become desensitized to everything in her pasture and stall. She was brought around her pasture and was aloud to feel all the objects in her pasture. She quickly learned that when her feet hit bark that there was an object close to her and it gave her time to move away or slow down. She is now able to run freely through her pasture without injury. Lady will never be ridden out on trails without her buddy marr. She is however a great breeding mare.
