Nightmare cat based because why not
They are able to cause nightmares in children, but it does take quite a bit out of them and they can't do it often.
Their colored markings fade with the more energy they use up. They completely disappear when they're exhausted.
Naming contest!

Name: Beldame [bel-dam]
- the Middle English word for an old woman
assumed to be a witch or other evil entity, including
fairies. However, the French equivilent of the name
means "beautiful lady" [belle dame].
- the proper name for the villainous Other Mother
in the 2002 novel Coraline [by Neil Gaiman] and
it's 2009 film counterpart [directed by Henry Selick].
Gender: Technically, the Beldame is genderless, however
tends to assume a more feminine form and therefore generally
prefers she/her pronouns; she does not use any set gender identity
construct, however. She is a nightmare, and human rules do not
apply to her.
