what is a hardragon? wrote:hardragons (lepus draconeus) are a hybrid between
hares, canines, newts and rams, created in labs in east asia. originally created to be designer
pets, the tiny creatures are omnivorous, sexless animals are said to have become semi-wild after a
ferrel (group) of hardragons escaped a lab and ran into the wild, soon allowing hare instincts to kick
in and becoming the widely-spread creatures they are known as today.
hardragons are also known as "pocket dragons" or "palm hares" due to their minuscule size; they
are between six and ten inches long and do not tend to grow much larger.
although they are omnivorous, hardragons tend to prefer fruit over all other foods, although will
eat most things. they can eat meat, but only in small amounts, as otherwise they will get stomachaches.
hardragons live in family groups called ferrels. like hares, they live above ground rather than in
a burrow like rabbits. family groups tend to be large and sprawling, often containing many members
and many courting pairs. within a territory there will usually be up to five ferrels at once.
ferrels tend to be centered around family; unlike most species, hardragons do not have a dominant
sex due to them being sexless; they live in pure equality, with no prejudice over one another due to
physical traits.
although they are more common in the wild, hardragons are widely kept as pets as well, and can be
bred via being taken to one of the hardragon labs in most large cities near hardragon territories.
due to their calm and docile nature, they are easily domesticated and can be tempted with small
pieces of food and pats if you're gentle enough. they are not easy to trust, however, but once
you end up taming one, it's certainly worth it!
