Searching for something that is lost,
my love, my pearl, my one thing to lean on
with her porcelain skin and azure eyes,
to guide me through til sunrise
her beauty unmatched by the eventide star
I wish to hold her close but alas I cannot,
for she has gone away somehow
to earth? to hell? is she heaven bound?
Where is my love with her magical voice?
to alight the night with joyful noise?
Where can she be? Alas there she is
but in a different form she falls asleep in
one with four legs, and silver hoofs
I want her, I need her, and I wish I could...
hold her, kiss her, keep her forever close,
she is gone, but I'll have you know

Explanation:
A man has fallen in love with the moon, but eventually the moon tires of living up in the sky. She wishes to see the world and be with her human lover, but when she journeys down to Earth she transform not into a human, but into a horse. The man still recognizes that she is still his Selene (meaning goddess of the moon, or just moon) and he still cares for the beast.
