Whim was walking on a narrow path deep into the woods. He loved doing this, mostly because it helped him to clear his mind. He had a lot to think about. Like, what if his mom found the stash of comics under his bed? Or what if the crack in his mirror grew until the mirror shattered? Would that mean he gets jinxed for 7 years? Because technically he didn't break the mirror, his little sister did, because when she threw the brush at his head it -
His thoughts were suddenly interrupted by frantic chirps. He searched the trees for the source of the frantic tweeting, and was alarmed to see a hungry fox about to devour four little chicks. One of the biggest reasons Whim loved the long walks in the woods was because he could enjoy the bird calls. So he wasn't going to let any birds get killed, not if he could help it! So without a second thought, he leapt into the tree and prepared to defeat the fox. Which was a pretty stupid idea, if you ask me. You see, Whim isn't the strongest Zver that ever existed. In a fight against a fox, he would most likely lose. Heck, in a fight with ten of him against a fox, he would still probably lose. So when the colossal fox turned around to face him, he instantly regretted his decision to jump into the tree. But no matter what, he still wanted to help. So in the split second before the fox attacked, he devised a plan. Although he wasn't very strong, he was still very smart and very fast. So when the fox charged, Whim leapt above him and succeeded in grabbing the birds' nest with his jaws. He then launched himself from the branch of that tree to a branch of another. The fox, temporarily stunned by his awesome skills getaway, tried to go after him, but Whim was already several trees ahead. Phew, Whim thought, looking back at the fox, That was a close one!
After he deemed a tree high enough for the birds' safety, he carefully climbed up it and set them down. It was only when he sat down and took a breather that he noticed a long, green ribbon poking out of the nest. He poked at it with his snout, and it was the softest thing he had ever touched. He slowly pulled it out of the nest, careful not to disturb the now sleeping birds. As he held it in his paws, he slowly tried to tie it around his neck. It was a perfect fit.
He raced out of the woods, anxious to get back home. He ran into his room and immediately began throwing stuff out from under his be. Whoosh. There goes the comic books. Whoosh. There's the old pair of old tennis shoes he lost. Whoosh. There goes the little box that holds his bell. WAIT! There it is! He fumbled out from under the bed and picked up the tiny box. He shook it gently and heard a tiny jingle. I knew I still had it, he thought, relieved the box was found. He opened it and pulled out the bell he had been given years ago. He had been waiting to find the perfect collar before he wore it, wanting to make the bell as special as could be.
He carefully looped the ribbon through the bell and tied it around his neck. He had been waiting for this moment forever, and he knew that every time he heard the jingle of the bell or felt the soft ribbon against his fur, he would be reminded of the time he heroically saved the four little chicks.
(Note - I'm a terrible writer but I gave it my best shot. Sorry if it is too long or poorly written.)
