Seabiscuit...Seabiscuit doesn't have a friendly exterior, as the first three years of his life weren't ideal. As a domesticated equid, he never had a choice over how his life was spent. His first humans misunderstood him and failed to realize that they were the ones in the wrong, not young Seabiscuit. Sure, he has an ongoing issue with his front left leg that causes bouts of soreness and upset. Sure, he's lazy, initially unwelcoming, and quite the grump by default. However, the fact that he was overworked and unappreciated didn't help his case. Inside, he is just as lovely of an equid as any other. It took a change of hands for people to realize that he was more than just a perpetually unsound beast.
After his move, the young equid underwent a miraculous transformation. His new barn allowed him to sleep in as much as he wanted. They fed the picky eater only the finest quality hay, which he happily devoured. He was allowed to have the companionship that he so desired when they realized that he was happiest in the company of a wide variety of characters - ranging from small stray dogs to a whole menagerie of friends. His problematic front leg was also wrapped and treated and he began to show improvement. It would never be the smooth-working machine that an equid's legs are meant to be and he'd always have a limp, but it would serve him well for the rest of his life. He was exercised correctly based on his individual talents, not on the cookie-cutter ideals that had been forced upon him before. His fitness improved each day and soon he was quite the athletic force.
While the old Seabiscuit still lurked under the surface waiting to strike, he was slowly rehabilitated to a more sociable equid and his better qualities were given a chance to shine. He became competitive and filled with the desire to succeed. His negative energy was transformed, creating a lean, mean, running machine. All of his former lethargy vanished when he was placed onto the track. One could even spot him racing wildlife, cars, joggers, and bikes along the fence lines if they watched him enough. He also formed bonds like he had never been able to do before. The connection to his trainer grew to be exceptionally strong. He was especially fond of those who would bring him his meals.
Even though Seabiscuit loves company and friendship, there is only one equid who he shares a lifelong bond with while the rest will never be more than acquaintances. That special friend is Azure. Azure's mild disposition and level head provide balance to the racehorse-quid's rather hectic mindset. Just as he feeds off of chaos and stress, he lives off of Azure's cool attitude. As long as they are together, Seabiscuit is just fine.
With other equids, he is a bit standoffish, slightly anxious, and just a tad rude. However, he is the gentlest soul with other creatures, great and small. He loves smaller animals, like dogs, cats, toddlers, and even monkeys. Barn mice have recently been spotted cuddling in his fluffy tail while the stallion lies down to sleep at night. He is so very careful not to step on any fragile forms while enjoying their company.
“Once a horse gives Seabiscuit the old look-in-the-eye, he begins to run to parts unknown.” - Red Pollard

Like his namesake, Seabiscuit is incredibly competitive, once he is in the mood to give it his all. All he needs is one small gesture in order for him to set his eye on the prize. He is a very determined personality and he lives to prove those around him wrong. Seabiscuit lived his early life as the underdog before sweeping his audience away.
“In 1938... the year's #1 newsmaker was not FDR, Hitler, or Mussolini. Nor was it Lou Gehrig or Clark Gable. The subject of the most newspaper column inches in 1938 wasn't even a person. It was an undersized, crooked-legged racehorse named Seabiscuit.”
― Laura Hillenbrand, Seabiscuit: An American Legend
Just as Seabiscuit was the people's horse, this Seabiscuit is the people's equid. He is a superstar, and simply owns the attitude. He craves attention and is quite a ham. If he doesn't feel like he is getting enough attention, the stallion will work to receive it. He has been known to paw away at stall doors, throw blankets to the ground, toss his halter at passerby, and even nip at arms when desperate times call for desperate measures. This is definitely not his most loved habit. He and the camera share a mutual love and his ears perk at the sound of the shutter clicking. There are countless pictures of the stallion with his tongue hanging out of the side of his mouth. Some will blame it on his racing past and dismiss it as a habit he hasn't broken. Others, however, believe that he knows exactly what he is doing. Like any star, Seabiscuit is incredibly sensitive and needs to be treated well. Unfortunately, if his feelings are hurt, he is the meanest creature on four legs. However, as long as he feels appreciated he will give you the moon.

Seabiscuit is a well-muscled, lean, and athletic equid. He has a very cute, almost dainty face with a thin muzzle and big brown eyes. Even for an equid, his legs are considered thin and lanky. His front legs are ever-so-slightly crooked resulting in an awkward gait, especially when he runs full throttle. This also causes bouts of unsoundness for the stallion. The problem is worse in his left foreleg than his right foreleg, but persists in both limbs. The rest of his body is sturdy and reliable.
He is a domesticated equid, and so he wears a fine leather halter. His lead is red and white to match his racing gear: his red mask and white number pad. Red is definitely his theme color as it represents his mask and his general attitude.
At the age of seven, he is no longer competing. However, he still runs for fun and is exercised just as regularly as when he was. Of course, his work outs have been adjusted to fit his new status and he is still incredibly fit. When not being exercised, he can be found running along the fence lines, entertaining his company, pacing in his stall, eating, sleeping, or being ornery. His mask and number pad are always kept nearby for any visitors or photo shoots and simply for memory's sake.
His kryptonite is peppermint. He goes crazy for the cool taste of those red and white candies. He also lives for being brushed and loved on. His favorite spots to be scratched are right at his withers, under his chest where his girth would rest, and right around the base of his tail. It is easy to tell when someone has found one of these key places since he closes he eyes, leans into the scratch, and twitches and puckers his little horse lips. There are times when the stallion will even return the favor.
He is lovingly called Biscuit by a few who are close to him.
