[Beatnik]

A Makoatl is a terrestrial shark-dragon hybrid recently discovered
off the coast of the Greenland sea. They have the powerful tail
and jaws of a shark, with the body and (occasional) horns of a dragon.
They usually have manes, and are covered in thick coats of fur-
adapted to keeping out the cold in their native habitat.
They live on a diet of mainly meat and fish, and are known to be vicious
hunters! Despite this attitude toward their prey, however, they
are very protective and mothering to their offspring,
as well as to each other the majority of the time.

So I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do for the contest, so I'm just going with something rather simple. It's an idea I've had for awhile now. =w= Ends next Monday. Prettying up and art extras allowed.

Their Dream:As the sweet smell of warm milk drifted through the air, Tide slowly shut his eyes and fell asleep. As he entered the dream world, He began to float upwards, like he was being taken away. As he opened his eyes, he had drifted to space, somehow. He felt like he was flying. As he fumbled around, he was slowly inching forward. As he got the hang of it, he glided forward and stretched his paws out to touch the stars.

Toroqi said as he looked at a huge forest,
with a big waterfall,and there were birds
flying around. Suddenly, he realised he
was standing on clouds, and yowled
"GAHH!... Wait... I'm not falling... Hahahah!"
he smiled only to realise he was falling,
and then he saw a black shadow below
him,it was shaped of a dragon,and it
opened it's mouth "I'm too young to die!
"Toroqi yowled and closed his eyes.
When he opened his eyes, he was in
a dark cave,and he saw big, red
glowing eyes, looking at him. He was
scared, of course, but instead of
screaming again he turned around slowly
and started running, only to trip over
something spiky, the next moment,
he was already awake
"it was only a nightmareee..."

I am swimming in the ocean alongside fish. We glide and and twisting and turning. I feel so free and weightless. As I practically soar through the water, my surroundings began to change. Instead of the rush of water on my face, wind begins to rush past me. The fish morph into colorful, sparkly birds. Brittle coral change into soft, marshmallow-like clouds. Jellyfish become balloons...for some strange reason. I always did like balloons. Perhaps that is why they became that. Anyways, I was confused at first. How was I still in the air without anything keeping me up. Then I noticed them. Great large wings sprouting from my back. No flapping was required for them. I simply sailed along the ocean of blue and white.
As if the dream could not get any more weirdly fantastic, a whale suddenly came up from the sea of clouds beneath me. Instead of flippers where large blue wings that only had to flap once to keep it up. I continued to fly above it. The clouds suddenly became dark though and suddenly a large cracking noise was heard all around. After a flash of white light, the birds and whale and balloons were gone. Another crack and a flash! My wings disappear, and I begin falling into blackness. Right before hitting the ocean, I wake up to a thunder storm in the real world, ending my dream.

The light of day gone and the shadows creeping towards me.
Soft cackling reverberates of the damp stone walls, echoing in my ears,
"Who are you?!"
My breath spins in soft tendrils of steam, spreading into the air.
A distant door creaks, and a lock is twisted shut
"Let me out of here!"
My cries joining the cackling, bouncing back in horrifying glee.
Gentle clicks of nails on cobblestone approach,
"Just leave me alone!"
I turn and leap for the top of the wall, where a ray of light peeks through,
But metal chains restrict me,
"W-what did I ever do?!"
The prongs of iron dig into my navy ankles,
The fur slick with blood,
"P-please! Let me go!"
The cackling is painfully close, ripping apart my ear drums.
Through tears of fear I see wings,
"W-wait! I'm a friend to you!"
Black eyes shine like pearls,
His razor beak speaks so slow,
"Why you're the funniest we've ever had on death row,
And if you're not smart enough to know,
No ones the friend of the black-eyed crow,"
