name; Guardian of the Traveler // Ganesha
gender; Stallion
place; Bali
story; Ganesha has traveled to many places over the course of his long life, but the place that influenced him the most was his stay in Bali. He arrived The day before the Tumpek Kandang, which is a Balinese Hindu ceremony to worship the animals and livestock on the island. He had arrived on the island after accidentally entering a fisher mans boat, thinking it to be one of the many houses along the water, and only realizing after that this was indeed not a home, so he remained until the fisher man made land on the island and Ganesha began to travel once again. He took shelter in a run down barn, his legs tired and his eyes needing some rest, he laid down and was awoken by a young boy dressing him in beautiful cashmere and silks.
A large feast lay before him in the shelter of the barn, with a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and plants for him to choose from Ganesha was honestly surprised by the generosity of the boy who seemed to be on the poorer side of life. Ganesha felt his stomach rumble as the smells of the food wafted into his nostrils, and began to taste all of the items he had never seen in his travels before. As he ate the boy braided his hair, mixing colourful fabrics and flowers in with the braids to make one of the most beautiful things Ganesha had ever seen.
Once Ganesha had his fill, he rose and was fitted with a bright red woven bridle, with tassels of every colour. He was then led out into the lined streets to join a parade of animals that headed towards the center of the small town. As they walked they were showered by rice and Holy Water, the boy next to him reciting a payer thanking the gods for the gift that we animals bring. Arriving in the town centre the chant of the humans was almost deafening as the thanked us for all of the work and sustenance that we provide. They thanked the gods for creating animals to make the life of man easier. The Cows were the most thanked in these prayers but even Ganesha a horse who belonged to no human was thanked by the boy who knelt next to him, as he was the sign he had asked of the gods to send. A sign that would send the boy on a long and rewarding adventure.
