Though Steve doesn't technically come from the USA, that's where he's spent the majority of his life, and he seems to embody the best possible traits a patriot should-- even if it might come into conflict with the current popular opinion. He deeply believes in the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness, for all people-- no matter their race, religion, gender, sexuality, or whatever else others might try to deem 'impure' and unsuitable. He is deeply against corruption, especially amongst authorities and government-- they should look out for the best interests of everyone, not just themselves, even if it isn't the easy way. And though he knows it is a tough battle... he truly believes in building a better world, and does all he can to reach that goal, no matter how large or small-- he'll help guide a lost traveler, help someone find a lost pet, or just spend time with someone who needs an ear. He does all he can to not just be great, but to inspire greatness in others-- there's really nothing else that makes his day quite as much as hearing someone say they were inspired to do something because of him, even if it was something as small as speaking up when they might have rather remained silent.

On the whole, even though his heroic personality is always 'on', Steve is quite a friendly deer! He truly tries to believe the best of people, and will treat everyone he encounters as a friend unless they've proven they should be treated otherwise... and even then, he will show mercy whenever possible. This has ended... rather badly for him in the past, with others taking advantage of his generosity and trusting nature, but he refuses to let it taint his opinion of the world as a whole. He'd never admit it though, but that is something he deeply fears-- that, in the end, others are mostly selfish and only working for their own means, and he's simply too naive and too deep in denial to accept it.

Well, that depends on which country you count as mine!

The few big Canada Day celebrations I've attended (and am preparing to attend as I type this!) have all just been loads of fun-- honestly kind of understated compared to the Fourth of July events, but one a couple years ago was set up as a whole little carnival! I... couldn't do much there though xD The ones here in BC have been a little less about Canada as a whole, and more just about celebrating the wider world; though last year's did showcase some neat Canadian artists. I just love the energy, the fun and relaxed atmosphere of it all, and of course, fireworks! (Even if they decided to set the show to Rush of all bands.) And honestly, the people are a lot of fun up here too-- even in the larger US shows I went to, everyone kind of kept to themselves, but up here? Everyone's really just friendly and there to have a good time, and it's fun to just share what you can :>

Now, for my celebrations back in the USA? I... admit, I'm not super close with some of my extended family. But it was always so much fun to go over to my grandparents' place and have a cookout, and for most of my early teen years, it was a pretty big thing! Most of the family in Ohio would come down to join us, and we'd just play board games, play with the many dogs who would come over, there'd be poppers and sparklers and snakes and snappers... but that started tapering off around the time I was... 14ish and we'd go over to my mom's mom's place. Still for a cookout, and that was a lot of fun, and I'd get to hang out with my younger cousins. The best part of being there though, was that we were in the prime viewing area for the Red White and Boom shows 4th of July, no matter where I celebrated, was... honestly, not all that much about patriotism-- I was always happy to be in a country where yeah, there's a lot that might be messed up... but there's a lot more that can and is done to improve, something I've come to appreciate from both Canada and the US after hearing my friend's experience abroad in more... restrictive areas. But to me, the days are about good food, cool fireworks, and celebrating where you're from, where you are now, and your family (or others you choose to share it with)!

Steve... is not entirely sure of his own history, actually! He has faint memories of the deersert homeland, where he was sure... he had an important job there, the best he can guess is that he was part of a large herd's guard force. And he knows... that was also quite a long time ago, forty years at the very least. How he got from there to... here is something he's still trying to puzzle out; the last thing he remembers is going up against a rival herd, one with more magically inclined deer, then... cold blackness. After that, he only remembers waking up in a strange field, startling a small group of human campers. But they were friendly enough (and by that point in time, deerserts were well-known enough that it wasn't entirely surprising!), offering Steve a meal... and, courtesy of one of the children present, his current name, though it took a little while before he truly adopted it for his own.

"You look like Captain America!" the girl had said. Naturally, Steve hadn't had any idea what she was talking about, but she lent him one of her comics while Steve recovered and he was quite... interested, to say the least. In the following months, he worked out as much as he could, and was quite surprised to find many of his own personality traits reflected in the character! It wasn't long before he took up the Captain's civilian name, and decided that... well, if he was in this world, if he wasn't wholly sure of who he was before... why not just go a step above and fashion himself a hero? Even with his faint memories, Steve knew that above nearly all else, he simply wanted the best for others, and in his short time mixed with the human world... well, there was quite a lot of work to be done there, even in the relatively small range he inhabited.

So that's where he is today, around 20 years after first arriving. Even if it isn't the easiest (or, to be perfectly honest, wisest) choice he could have made, Steve is pretty happy with how things have gone. At the very least, it's good to have some identity to hold onto in the midst of so much unfamiliar ground.

steven, or steve as he prefers to be called, is a very kind spirited and loyal deer. He stands up for what he believes in, and is trusting of his adoptive family. sometimes, overly so with baldr- which is often a mistake. when someone tells you they'll catch you during a trust fall exercise, and that someone being your family, you'd think that you wouldn't end up on the ground. better yet, on the ground, then sat on as a joke. steve's loyalty runs unquestioned in the family, for he would never dare to go against their wishes, even if it might be in their best interest. being the little introverted son of a gun he is, it's kind of difficult to tell them things in the first place, even though he
knows that they would welcome his input. though when things do go

steven was born to two deer in montreal, qc, canada. he had various health problems, many of which were too costly for the small family. unable to take care of their son, they sent him away to their relatives' home in america, where they hoped he would have a better life. he met a boy named bucky that he would spend the most of his time with. as he grew up with his new companion by his side, he remained rather small and sickly. his friend enlisted in the army, and he soon followed, making it through with his personality and desires rather than his physical form. steven can't really remember any events from after the helicarrier crashed... until he woke up in a strange room that vaguely resembled the one he lived in growing up. however, it wasn't quite right. other deer with unfamiliar faces surrounded him, staring at him strangely with test tubes and fancy gadgets that he hadn't seen before. he later learned that he had been frozen for nearly seventy years. these deer that surrounded him, weiss, baldr, jack, uiri, vela and vi, would soon become his new family- but he couldn't help but feel that he was forgetting someone...

"Ha, Steve, the brother I never wanted. Well then again, it ain't even blood, so I guess I am good on not having the 'dork' gene passed on. Well, in reality, when it comes down to little Stevey, he really is a dork, a dork that basically everyone can rely on. Sure he is a goof and doesn't speak up half the times, hell, not even speak up for himself almost all the times. But I guess that could count as a charm point. I wonder how long I can keep him quiet.... Oh well, another time. Though really, having Steve around is like the best thing. To mellow out the drama I seem to cause. Well not really with Uiri still getting on my case with picking on little Stevey. Still pretty fun bugging with over everything he didn't learn about those seventy years."

"Ve is well, how would one put it delicately, quiet. At times, ve reminds me of my own children for some reasons, maybe it is because of the lacks of words ve speaks, much like young Sally. But that might not be the only reason. From all the others, I have been picking up on the distaste for him from my son Jack, but it might be misplaced due to his young nature. Then again, Poe has bit of a distaste for him as well, though that might just misplaced jealousy."

"When it comes down to trusting anyone, I have always tended to have a hard time. Sure, there are a select few, but even then I have a tough time with certain subjects and them. And in return, we tend to talk quite a bit, though the conversations do almost always end a bit one-sided.
