Floc Name and reason:
Mariposa.
Meaning butterfly, in spanish.
Mariposa's nickname is Mari, which she likes to be called.
I name her this because she just looked like a Mari to me. Now, I am not going to just
name something Mari, she is to special for that, so I figured I would take butterfly,
and make it Mariposa, butterfly in spanish. It is a beautiful and exsotic name, just
like her beautiful patterns.

Just Insignificant.
"A little dew, will turn your life in two."

Mari stepped out on the frost covered ground, goosebumps covered her body as her paw landed on the ground. It was hard and dark, making her huff. She continued to walk forth finding what her mother told her to find. "It's the only thing that isn't frozen in this tundra."
Mari shivered as she walked along the cold ground, making her fur stand up. "Something that's not frozen? How? What? There is no such thing!" she thought to herself, slipping on small patch of ice. She felt her warm breath every time she breathed out, causing a steam cloud to drift up into the cloudy sky. She sighed and kept walking around the yard. To think that something, everything, would be frozen in this weather.
Her walk was quickly stopped by a spike weed, that was extra sharp from the ice. She flinched as the sharp point poked her, and she quickly stepped back. "She said it was around here." Mari thought, and she started to walk around the edge of the forest.
She felt the frozen grass poke her as she walked, too cold to go up and levitate. She sniffed the air, wanting to sniff out where the not frozen thing was.
She found it.

Mari took deep breaths, making the inside of her nose freeze. She kept smelling, water, water, dew... She raced towards the scent, she couldn't wait to find the dew and go inside. She slowed her pace as she approached the dew, breathing through her mouth to keep her nose warm, but making her throat dry.
She crouched low, into an army crawl, and crept quietly towards the scent. She didn't want it to fall, or else she would break her future. She paused as the scent of water was right at her nose. She closed her mouth, being careful not to breath. She held her breath.

Her paws were dry and cold, and she was shivering with joy. Her throat was dry and cold, along with her nose. Her ears felt frozen shut. Her wings were frozen solid, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't move them. She had been afraid this would happen to her if she ever went outside in the cold, and it had happened.
Mari started to panic, shaking with fear, noticing what she had done. "I'm going to freeze to death! I'm going to get dehydrated!"

Mari stopped. She turned calm and relaxed. She noticed she had an idea and she remember what her mother said. "It's the only thing that isn't frozen in this tundra. There will always be something that isn't frozen."
Mari huffed, holding her breath, she licked the dew, swallowing it. Her throat was moist. and she felt warmer. She stood up straight and bolted home. The heat and happiness overwhelming her. She couldn't wait to get home and tell her mother her discoveries.

"Now you can go out in the cold."

Write about seemingly insignificant event that changed the Floc's life: One day, Sunset was walking through a forest. It was springtime, and flowers were blooming and butterflies were everywhere. A butterfly landed on her nose. Suddenly, as if out of nowhere a blue mess of feathers slammed into her face, only for an instant, then it was gone, taking the butterfly with it. She cried for hours, sad for the lost butterfly. She now swears to protect every butterfly in the world from hungry predators, and keeps a feather from the blue thing with her at all times to remind her of her duty.

despereaux is the name of a mouse in a children's book, and supposedly means "despair".
as soon as i saw this boy, the name popped into my head. his design seems very dark, like he comes from hard times.
from desperate times.

"the eponymous hero of the story is Despereaux, a tiny, sickly mouse with massive ears and is born with his eyes open and likes music and honey and everyone doesn't like him. His name means "despair." Despereaux lives in desperate times."

a very young despereaux sat on the dusty street, absent-mindedly fluttering his wings in the dirt, a scowl on his face. he groaned as his stomach growled. it was a hard life. the young floc sighed, his scrawny shoulders heaved as he saw the gleaming flicker of coins being passed to a vendor for the billionth time that evening. he watched flox walk down the dirty street, buying apples, carrots, and other things that despereaux desperatly wished he could have. his stomach backed him up with yet another growl. as the sun started to set, a horrible idea snuck it's way into his innocent mind. oh, it wouldn't be a big deal, he thought, just a one time thing. anything to live another day. night fell on the town like a blanket, covering everything in the dusty black. despereaux slid along the street, his shadow tailing behind him. he kept his eyes locked on his prize: a small gold coin, sitting on a clerk's counter. it was his for the taking.

crime was almost unheard of in the area, and most shop keepers would leave their wares sitting out, knowing they would be safe and sound. but not tonight. as despereaux neared the coin, his paw shot out, snatching the coin and throwing it to the ground in front of him, shining like heaven itself. that wasn't so bad, the dark floc thought- grinning to himself, ill never go hungry again like this.
