Personality: Jarl is a serious-looking and intimidating at first glance, but is not as hard-hearted as one would think. He is serious, determined, and protective of his mate, but he is inwardly a romantic. He would gladly do anything for his mate, and is very self-scraficing. Other males tend to steer clear of him, which sometimes he dislikes since he enjoys interaction, but being with his chosen mare is enough for him.

In a land of rich and rain
Followed by a tasseled train
Our hero in his bright grandeur
On a trail of the waiting lure

The lure of tempting scent
In twain she would his heart rent
He stalks and waits, her coat in sight
Glowing in the pale moonlight

Her patched coat, spirit's gleam
Wandered from a realm unseen
Fae of Highlands, Journeyed far
conceived in fire, light of star

Her dark eyes roam
Find their home
A breathless stand
On even land

He moves, she parries
He bows, she tarries
Unsure and lost, new world
New realms, hot and cold

In a night, two might find
The bonding of body and mind.

(A simple poem about him meeting a mare in a clearing...the mare is a specific mare of mind, who would become his mate. :3)

The hoof-beats across the earth, as loud as drums,
They told you to watch out for the 'beast',
But as you look, the hoof-beats have ceased.

Look out, I warn you now,
For the horns, don't say "How?",
For he won't wait, he won't sleep,
So please do not make a peep.

Here he comes, hear his breath,
Don't confuse him as death,
He will come, standing with you, taking a peek,
He will ask, quite so nicely, "Wanna play hide and seek?"

You take a sigh, relieved at last,
Realizing you misjudged him in the past,
He wants to play, forevermore,
He doesn't growl, he doesn't roar.

So go and hide,
Casting your fears aside,
For now can you see,

Here I am,

I make my way to her.
I am intrigued,
I am amazed.

She sees me, antlers and all.
Her eyes are soft,
Laced with love.

Look at her, standing there.

Her smile makes my heart stop,
She made time slow when I saw her.

I greet her with care,
Like the lady she is.
I bow politely, and she laughs lightly.

I puff out my chest,
try to look my best.
I swing my antlers,
stomp my hooves.

And suddenly, there's him.

My eyes narrow, my nostrils flare.
She stares at us,
Back and forth.

I stamp, I snort.
"Leave!" My voice echoes.
Clash! Of the heads,
Thump! Of the fallen.
Who dares challenge the beast inside?

I am victorious,
The honorable, the strong.
