CWHR: Immy's Advent Challenge Horse #14

Postby ImmyWimmy1 » Sat Dec 14, 2013 9:19 pm

I am so proud of how this girlie turned out! I genuinely thought that this was going to be a billion times worse than it is!!! ^^'

Anyway, she's the mare for the 14th December: A Black Manchado mare! The manchado colouration is extremely rare and she is very unlikely to pass it onto her offspring. I have selected the breed and height to make things easier, as it has only been recorded in certain breeds within Argentina.

Show Name
Black Cloud's Ballet
Barn Name
Araceli {ah-rah-SE-lee},
Latin name, meaning "altar of the sky".

Age
7 years
Gender
Mare
Breed
Criollo
Height
14.3hh
Personality
Araceli is a very kind, but also shy mare. She rarely tries to search contact to other horses and is more of a loner. Sometimes you can watch her playing with the younger fillies, but when she spots someone looking at her she will trot away. It is unknown why she refuses contact to other horses, since she seems to be very social. Araceli is good on long distances and has great strength and stamina, typical qualities of a Criollo. As endurance horse she doesn't mind carrying a rider for hours and neither weight nor a difficult ground will bring her to her knees. She is really friendly towards children and good with women too, but she has kind of difficulties with men.
Story
A year before Dakota adopted Araceli:
Strong rain made it hard for the rider and her horse to get forward. The young woman embraced the neck of the mare to make it easier. Araceli couldn't see anything in the storm and the raindrops in her eyes hurt her. Still, the mare was able to keep her rider and herself on the course. A small white flag didn't came into the woman's sight before she stood right next to it.
"We have to go down there Celi", she whispered and pulled the reins to the right. The mare obeyed and stumbled down the hill. It was slippy and Araceli could hardly find any footing. When they almost reached the flat ground, the mare slipped and fell. Suddenly they rolled over and the mare fell down another hill that wasn't visible from the top.
For some seconds the Criollo was unable to move. Blood was dripping down her cheek and her left foreleg, where sharp stones had digged into the mare's skin. Pain shot through Araceli's body when she finally stood up. In the meanwhile the rain had almost stopped and only soft drizzle moistened the already wet coat. Since the Criollo couldn't find her rider, she kept on walking. It took hours before someone found the injured mare. One of the men harshly grabbed Araceli's reins and his gelding snapped at the mare. That man was Araceli's riders worst opponent. He pulled the mare behind and ignored that she was in pain.
Araceli managed to break free from the man and escaped through the woods.
The mare was found a week later in a small village, exhausted, but alive.
Her rider is being missed since their accident.

Breeding Ref. for Artists: Black Manchado. Homozygous for E/E. The manchado marking genetics are still a mystery, but it is not very likely that she'll pass these one at all, even when bred to a manchado stallion.[/center]

Art or Story: Bonita's rider was nervous. It was their first time performing before royalty. Bonita was of course eager to go out and perform. She was already in her special tack. Soon they were riding out. Her owner gave her the signal to bow and Bonita did. Soon the music started and Bonita and her rider started their dance. They performed flawlessly. Each step barely looked like it even touched the ground. Soon their performance was over. As Bonita was being cooled down, the royal couple came to congratulate them on their flawless performance. The princess gave Bonita a sugar cube and the prince gave her owner a rose. Next they all got a picture together. Then the royal couple left and Bonita and her owner went home to the ranch. When they got home, Suki, the young Saluki pup came to greet them. She was so happy they were home. Soon they were playing in the pasture together while their owner watched.

preppy paws, Im a bit of a go getter when it comes to a horse I see and love. When I find the perfect one, I chase it down until its tamed to be mine ^^

Image
Fly Away, When she gallops as fast as she can, her feet are held so high that it looks like she is on air flying towards the sky because the sky is the limit

Image
Moth, You can say that she looks like a Moth. I think she does with her unique pattern. Almost like fragile wings am I right?

Image
Mare, Obviously Moth is not a stallion. As I hope you can tell...

Image
Criollo, one of my favorite horses. I talk about them all the time. I haven't seen to many around CWHR so let this one be the few

Image
8, Dont tell her that she is old! Moth is young to me, no matter how many grey hairs she gets, she will always and forever be my lil baby girl <3

Image
14.3 hh, On the short side. Oh hey! Im short too! We are made for each other. One can wish!

Image

mischievous- You bet she is, Getting into so much trouble. With a bright, there must come to a bad side as well

fearless- When she sees her friendly horses stuck in a mud puddle she doesn't hesitate to save them. When she gets shocked by a fence, she doesn't jump in fear. When the other horses run away from thunder, she stands and does nothing. She is to brave to be fearless. Protecting anyone at all costs.

alert- You could call her the lead mare, because she is. She is always on high alert which may be the reason why she is fearless. She does her job well. If she were out in the wild, I'd say she would be the last to go.

cooperative- I know that she handles everything in a proper way. Usually at shows she isn't so stubborn. I see horses around her just telling her to give me some sass, but she listens to me instead of the other horses.

energetic- Even in the muddy rain when its humid she plays and runs around. Everyday when I go out to feed the horses, there she is just jumping up and down, running in the pasture so free with the wind in her mane. All the horses will come and greet me but she is to energetic that she wont even come to say hi.

fair- Playing fair is one of her greatest word to call her. Moth really dislikes how others don't play fair. She once saw Sooty stealing all of Bru's grain. Ever since then, she just doesn't like it being unfair to the point when she's gotta kick up some dust

helpful- I remember when I was out trying to train Misha when he bucked me off and Moth came up to me to raise me back on my feet again. After i got up I got back on Misha with no problem but she still kept watch to see if anything else would go wrong

loud- loudest horse in the barn if I say so myself. You her her just neigh all the way to the road. She likes make her self stand out in front of others. Doesn't like to be forgotten about.

clumsy- Oh gosh, She trips over her feet almost every other day. Never has she hurt her self by falling but its scary to think that. Her hooves are like trip wires. Im telling ya.

Image
The day I took her home was the greatest days of my life. I saw her eyes sparkle and fell in love. I was at a horse shelter and they had so many horses to choose from. I walked in the barn and out in the pasture. All the horses in the barn were pretty much sold, so I went to the pasture and saw over 30 horses. I was so excited to get one home. I ran out in the pasture looking at every horse. It was impossible to see all of them. I went up to this nice Flaxen Horse. I fell in love with him. I thought he was the one. When I turned around to yell to my father that I wanted this one, there was a horse standing right behind me. I was shocked and jumped a little. I took some steps to the left and she followed me. I ran to the end of the pasture and she trotted behind me still. I gave her a smile and then hugged her. She gave me a lil horse kiss, I giggled. Once I started walking towards my dad with the horse following me still he said,
"looks like this is the one?"
I nodded my head. The owner loaded her into our trailer. The horse cost 2,000. We paid her and left the shelter with our new horse in the back. It was an hour ride home. I was tired but not as tired. We pulled in the drive way and loaded her out for the last time in her life. She will no longer have so many homes. I put her in the small pasture with me and played with her for the rest of the day. Night was arriving and it was dark out. I got out my flashlight shining it on the new horse. Moths and other bugs were flying around her. The horse ate one of the moths and spit it out rubbing her tongue on her shoulder. I then had an idea in my head. I would name her Moth. It was a perfect name for her. Her unusual markings and the moth that she ate made it perfect for her.
