Diary:
Day 1 - July 1st
Dear diary,
6:30 am
Today me and some friends went to the Mustang round up at the stables. We got there right before everyone else did so we got to look the wilds over before anyone else. That's when I saw her, a paint with a War bonnet. A rare Medicine Hat. I watched the wild filly as she searched for a weakness in the pen that held her among several other fillys. She kept testing the bars and kicking any who came near. Right then, as my number matched with hers, I knew I was going to have a rough road ahead in taming her.

Dear diary,
What a fireball of a filly! Choctaw, the filly's new name, somehow kicked the door of the trailer open and bolted as we turned onto the dirt road leading to my ranch. We spent and hour just trying to herd her into a pen. Even with the help of my ranch hands, she managed to kick me in the ribs, thankfully, none are broken though. She is definitely a spirited little girl and hopefully she won't escape again.

1:00 pm -
Dear Diary,
Well, she did it again. This time, she jumped clear over the fence and into a cow pasture. When I got the call, I looked an saw her chasing the bull! I have never seen a mustang so brave and spirited as this one! I guess I need to go rescue the bull...be right back.
1:45 -
Dear diary,
Finally managed to get Choctaw in a secured, high fence pen I use for keeping injured deer in. Glad she can jump a 9ft fence, thank goodness! She was interested in the hay and sweet feed I tempted her with to get her used to the trough. It seemed to calm her down a bit.
5:00 -
Dear diary,
I have my cattle dogs sleeping in the house tonight so as not to spook Choctaw on her first night. The female dog is due to have her puppies any day now, so ill probably keep her in the house anyway. I went out and checked on Choctaw and at least she didn't try to kick me, but I can still see a lot is spirit and mischief in her eyes a she watched me. She seemed content enough to lay down, and got up when I came to the pen door. I saw her coming out of the barn that is connected to the deer pen (which oddly enough, only has one filly in it instead of deer.) she snorted at me, but then just stood there watching me. We are both tired, so I think we can both turn in early. Who knows, maybe tomorrow will be calmer, and ill work on getting a chance to pet her.
