Wooo! 200th WTE!This guy has some speacial features, as you can see.

Name meaningHe believes the name his mother gave him has some definitive meaning, although she's never told him what that is.
His name, Morris, means dark skinned, and comes from the Roman Latin Mauricius [although Morris is technically Medieval English in origin].
WTE ageCurrently, Mo is nine years and nine months old.
WTE genderBased on his pronged horns, Morris is definitely a male.
WTE heightOne of the tallest stallions around, Mo is 16hh - towering him over a good majority of the Whip Tails around.
WTE personalityKoru/Mo is a friendly, trusting stallion. While he does have his moments of wariness, for the most part, he is open and willing to trust in others. Despite others interested in his appearance, he doesn't care for it much; he is always worried that others - especially stallions - will loathe him simply because of his double set of horns. This has led him to spend half of his time in the company of a herd, the one the humans created, and half of his time wandering on his own. He is not one for open confrontation, although he is quite capable of defending himself or others - especially so for the latter. Because of his past experience with humans, Koru/Mo tolerates their presence, and sometimes accepts their interactions when with the herd.
What do you think the marking is?Them extra horns between his ears and that heart near his nose~
Creative pieceDark brown head lifting, a young stallion of three years gazed at the endless expanse above. The sky was bright that day, the golden sun lightening the normally cerulean heavens to a serene baby blue hue. Thin, wisps of clouds drifted casually across the expanse, white tendrils curling out to form unique shapes and patterns; they reminded the gazing stallion of the coats of other equines in his herd, whose flanks and shoulders made them as unique as those that dotted the sky.
In the calm of the morning, the herd was content to graze out in the open. The grass that grew outside of the forest was not nearly as tall or lush as that which lay beneath the canopy of trees, which was why the herd rarely ventured from the safety of the forest; however, the grass that lay in open sunlight rather than under a darker canopy was far more rich in nutrients - which is why the lead stallion and mare would sometimes lead their group away from their usual sanctuary.
Lowering his gaze, Koru studied the group that he'd grown up in. His mother was closest, her birdcatcher spots glimmering in the bright rays. Not too far off were the two other mares and their offspring. The first was a pretty black mare whose only markings was a small pink snip on her nose and four short white socks on each leg; by her side was the youngest of the herd, a black and gray filly with a bright white star between her eyes. The second mare was a Buckskin equine whose only marking was a white strip along her face; her foal was nearly as old as Koru and had her same coat color, but had his father's blanket along his rump. Koru's bright blue gaze flicked past them to taken in the multihued coats of the rest of their 20-member herd; the simple, yet beautiful pelts of the mares contrasting greatly to the loud, extravagant colors and patterns adorning the horned stallions.
Flicking an ear, Koru compared himself to the others. Some praised him for having such a unique combination of patterns on his Bay pelt, while others looked at him as if he was at fault for being born the way he was. Stallions envied his two pair of horns - figuring mares would choose him over them simply based on his appearance. But the young male didn't care for anything involved in courtship; he merely wanted to be left alone most of the time so he didn't have to hear the whispers circulating wherever he walked. It was for this reason that he had begun to slowly walk away from the main herd, grazing every few steps to make it appear as if he were simply looking for the best shoots. It was as he was drifting away that the sound came to him.
It was a long, deep rumble that thrummed through one's veins, reminiscent of thunder that often accompanied rain in the humid forest. Most in the herd continued grazing, not bothered in the least by the growling from beyond the trees; however, Koru's head lifted shortly after catching the sound. His ears swiveled and brow wrinkled as he looked to the sky above - which contained only thin white clouds that looked nothing like those that came in with a storm. The stallion puffed a soft snort out, his tail sweeping behind him, as the rumbling continued; his left foreleg stomped the ground in a further sign of confusion - no thunder he'd ever encountered had ever gone on that long.
By now, the majority of the Whip Tails in the herd had lifted their heads up and began shifting around uncomfortably. When the trees began whipping frantically, and something blinding soared into view, the lead stallion screamed as he reared - his ears pinning back and forelegs kicking the air - jolting the herd into motion. Koru's shrill whinny pierced the air as he turned to gallop after his mother and herd, his legs beating the ground as he worked to catch up to the fleeing herd; the once distance rumble was now a near-deafening roar and a sharp, frantic wind lashed at the equines' bodies as they raced to escape.
Koru's short mane whipped as he practically flew across the grassy earth as the herd raced away from the sanctuary of the forest in their desperation to escape the noisy, frightening beast snarling from the sky. He cried out as something struck his flank, but the young stallion did his best to catch up to his fleeing herd. Koru noticed that the other young stallion seemed to encounter his similar pain - bucking mid-run - as did the mare with the youngest foal, although she whinnied and tossed her head as she ran. The beast in the sky pursued them relentlessly as the lead mare tried to swerve and return them to the safety of the forest; each time she was thwarted as the roaring creature came closer to the ground - its snarling growing increasingly deafening and the wind growing into a shrieking gale.
It wasn't long until Koru's vision started to blur and his sure footing began to falter. Shaking his head, the young equine stumbled as his distance from the herd grew. Finally, he slowed to a walk, his sides heaving and panic filled confusion swimming in his brain. Why was he unable to run after his mother and the herd like he normally could? As his knees buckled, Koru saw that the mare was also swaying on her feet - her filly bleating worriedly - and the other young stallion leaning his head down as his sides heaved. Dirt and debris flew into the Bay's eyes as the roaring beast perched on the ground between the four equines and their herd. Scrunching his multihued blue eyes against the dust, Koru spotted oddly shaped figures stepping out of the belly of the beast before moving slowly to the different Whip Tails that were in varied stages of lying down. Koru's own legs were parallel with the ground - his forelegs stretched before him and his hindlegs tucked close to his stomach as he tried to get back up, despite his sleep-fogged brain.
"Easy does it, boy," a voice murmured close by. The sounds were gibberish to the young stallion, even as his ears swiveled to pick up the location of the gentle tone. Something was wrapped around Koru's body as the figures drew around him. This was the last thing he would see and feel on the day he last saw his herd.
-- * -- * -- * -- * -- * -- * --
Koru slowly blinked open his eyes, water clouding his vision as he slowly roused himself from sleep. The young stallion puffed out wearily, wondering why he felt so drained even though he'd been sleeping. At first, he couldn't recall any of the recent events, as his eyes squinted and blinked in the bright sunlight. Then it all came to him in a sudden flood of memories. The shiny, roaring beast that charged at the herd from the sky; him falling behind the fleeing herd, alongside another young stallion and the mother mare, before he was overtaken by a sudden wave of sleepiness. As the images filled his mind, Koru whinnied in fear - having come to the realization that the strange creatures had gotten a hold of him. His suspicions were confirmed when the stallion tried to rear up and something firm, which was wrapped around his head, drew taut and kept him from raising it much.
Panic began to flood his system, the whites apparent in his eyes, as he looked around. Koru's legs had yet to grow steady enough to hold him, but it wouldn't have mattered much. The stallion was surrounded by a barred gate, which gave him room to stand but nothing else. He could also smell the unfamiliar tang of the strange beings all around him. As his ears swiveled, Koru picked up on their odd voices, their language unfamiliar to him. His tail swished once behind him, tapping both sides of the pen he was enclosed in. What's going to happen to me? His mind frantically tried to figure out a solution to free himself, chugging slowly through his options as the sedative was slow to wear off. Where were the others?
The voices drew closer and closer, until the oddly shaped figures were surrounding him from shoulder to shoulder. The young stallion flinched back, tugging the ropes around his snout tight, when one of them moved to touch his nose. However, he was unable to move far enough away and the hand slowly drew closer until it hovered just beyond his nostrils. Breath picking up, Koru snorted into the man's outstretched palm, picking up his unusual scent before expelling it in a huff. "Easy there 2Double0, we're not here to hurt you." The one whose hand was outstretched murmured, although Koru couldn't understand the sounds that came out. Gentle fingers stroked the velvet of his nose and upper lip, in an attempt to be soothing and comforting to the wild stallion.
Ears swiveling, Koru looked around at the gathered humans - although he didn't know at the time what they were exactly. His eyes slowly stopped showing their whites as he adjusted to their presence. The young Whip Tail still didn't trust them, but he no longer feared the strange beings. Foot stomping, Koru moved his head forward some, slackening the straining rope he'd been previously fought against. It wasn't long until the humans dispersed around him, triggering the stallion to tense up once more; however, the one who'd cooed at him before returned to stroking his nose before he gripped the rope securely. "It's alright boy. We've just got to get you branded, and then we'll move you to the pasture with the others," he murmured. Yet, upon feeling the tension on the rope, Koru jerked his head and panic leaked from his brain once more. The sharp scent of something cold filled his nostrils, surprising the young stallion mid-buck. In his momentary pause, other ropes around his were tightened on the pen - ones he hadn't paid any mind before from their looseness. Unable to move his head or neck, Koru panicked and tried to maneuver away from the tightened rope - which was where the pen came in. He wasn't able to do more than take a step or two once all the bound cords were pulled taught.
One of the creatures came up to the captured equine, and began to shave down part of his coat along his left back leg. His tail lashed once, as part of his panic, the end banging on each side of the pen. The man at his head murmured softly and tried to comfort, but Koru no longer listened to his soothing voice. Others began calling to one another as something cold pressed onto his leg (alcohol) followed by something harder and even colder pressed in immediately after. Although it didn't sting or hurt in any manner, Koru still shrieked in protest, trying to pull free of the ropes nevertheless. Another shout to the other humans, and the harder substance was removed from his back leg. "Easy does it. Now you get to rejoin your herdmates." The man murmured, easing up on the tension of his head-rope. The pen clanged open before his chest and Koru tried to dash past the man, but the ropes around his neck tugged him short of his charge. Although he tried to run ahead a few times, Koru was forced to move at a walk as his hooves clopped over the rough dirt terrain.
When the smells and sounds of others Whip Tails came to him, Koru whinnied shrilly, hoping that it wasn't his hopeful mind tricking him. It was only when three familiar calls responded that Koru knew he hadn't been imagining things. After another metal gate clanged open and Koru felt the ropes being quickly removed, hands somewhat rough in the process. But finally, finally, he was free! Hooves pounding the ground, he whinnied once more. There! The other three members of his herd - the young stallion and the mare along with her foal were rushing through the trees to come meet him. The four herdmates greeted one another warmly, with nickering and nudges. Slowly, other Whip Tails came into view, curious as they emerged from the stand of trees.
--* -- *--* -- * --* -- *--
Since then, Koru has grown older, having aged a little over six years. The other stallion is around eight and a half years old, the mare approximately seventeen years, and her foal is about six years old. The humans had finished rounding up others from wild herds, making the branded herd expand to around twenty five members. Although he hadn't wanted it, Koru had been made the leader as soon as he'd come of age, as others looked to him thanks to his extra horns; that and he seemed to be the most willing to interact with the humans after he'd come to understand their language some. Their marked herd no longer is kept in pens, but has its own territory out in the wild. They go about their business like most wild Whip Tails. The only difference is, that a few times a year, the humans will return in their loud flying monster to check on the growing herd. Koru still doesn't completely trust them, but he tolerates their presence and calms the herd when the two-legged beings approached.
"Hey Morris," a man greets, as he always does once their machine lands. The male equine flicked an ear and swiped his tail. The herd waited behind him, the youngest of the herd anxiously stamping their feet by their mothers. The human strolled slowly up to the still-wild stallion, his hand outstretched for him to smell. Koru snorted, his nostrils flaring when the human approached. As per usual, he was inspected from head to tail - the only Whip Tail that'd let them do it without sedation - feeling the man's hands run along the silvery-white patch marked with letters on his left back leg. As soon as the hands left him, Koru made a high noise in his throat before he turned and led the herd back into the trees; behind him, he could hear the humans talking above the pounding hooves - doing whatever it was that they did to monitor the herd's progress.
Anything elseThis is a definite work in progress. Also, I love his design midnight~
