Name: Stresa (Stray-sah)
Story: A lone mare wandered through a winding forest trail in the middle of the night. The cold air turned her breath white. She wanted nothing more than to leave her old life behind. It would cause nothing but pain. She could hear the wolves evil song even though it had been so long since that day...
-----------------------A year in the past--------------------------
"The wolves have been getting very brave in the last few days... I want you to be careful Glory." The stallion nussled her mane.
Glory nickered, "You don't need to worry about me. I can take care of myself." She nosed her mate.
"I don't doubt that, but it never hurts to be careful."
-----------------------That night--------------------------
Glory and her mate stood at the edge of the forest. The moon was high in the sky. The wolves strange song called through the night. When the wolves began their attack. The pair ran to warn the others in the herd, the wolves close behind them. Glory's mate turned to defend her.
"Glory, go warn the others!"
"I'm not leaving you behind." Glory sounded desperate, she knew that he couldn't take on the wolves by himself.
"GO!!!"
Glory had no choice but to flee. She galloped as fast as she could warning the herd that the wolves were attacking.
Several members of the herd went into the forest, none had returned when morning had come.
Glory urged the lead mare to let her go in search of her mate, and the mare reluctantly agreed as long as a stallion went with her.
They found Glory's mate barely clinging to life, "glory..." He spoke very quitely, "glory, don't... forget me..."
Grief stricken Glory refused to go back to the herd. after all there was nothing left for her there. No family, no mate, and no friends.
-----------------------The present--------------------------
She had kept her promise. She had never forgotten him. Nor had she forgotten the wolves that killed him.
A familular song twisted through the night air, more mournful than before.
Enraged Glory went after the song determined to get revenge for her beloved. when she reached the wolf she found it alone mourning the loss of its mate. It had made no move to attack her or even acknolegde her presence.
"A strage creature the wolf is. Isn't it?"
Glory turned to see a young stallion standing beside her. "How did you..."
"Approach without you hearing me?" the stallion chuckled. "Is that relevent?"
She could not answer.
The wolf looked over the two horses and shied away. It wandered back into the forest utterly alone.
"Those wolves just tried to attack my herd. Sadly for them we are not easily hunted. We managed to drive off the main pack some time ago, but these two remained and were desperate. We didn't mean to kill her mate, but it could not be helped." The stallion looked away from the corpse.
"They are monsters, they kill for pleasure!" Glory responded not believing what she was hearing.
"They hunt for food. Not for the fun of it..." The stallion was calm. He began to walk away. "Why don't you come with me? You look like you've been on the move for a long time."

Glory was hesitant, but she followed him to his herd. It was surprisingly small. There were only six horses, all of whom were happy to meet her and introduce themselves. The stallion who led her to them introduced himself as Phantom. The others were Advetian, Charger, Vala, Gala, and Matre.
Matre stepped over to Glory, "We are all so pleased to meet you, but we would like to know who you are."
Glory hesitated, "My name is... Glory..."
Charger faced her, "It seems as though that's a name you no longer want..."
Glory nodded.
"Then choose a new name. A name that means something to you," Advetian smiled at her.
Glory looked down at the ground thinking deeply, sighing she spoke, "ok."
Phantom looked at her, "What name do you choose?"
"I will take my mates name... He died a long time ago, and I promised him that I would never forget him... My name will be Stresa..."
The other horses whinned and gave thier approval of Stresa's new name. Phantom stepped forward, "We would like you to join our heard Stresa. You do not have to decide now, but you will always be welcome here..."
-------------------------------------------------
Stresa is currently undecided as to wether or not to accept this herds offer, or to decline and continue her wandering.
