A light breeze kept sweeping past in the chilly, cool night. The bright full moon shone above Miles and Sonoran, illuminating their faces.
Miles sat himself down in the soft grass. His friend Sonoran was sitting behind him by a little bit.
Miles paused. “Do you know why I dragged you here?”
Sonoran shook her head. “It’s got to be important if you’re making me stay awake at like 12AM.”
Miles wondrously stared at the marble-surfaced circle in the sky. “It’s because I love the moon so much, and I wanted to show and talk with you why.” Miles subtly pointed to the moon. “It’s so interesting and even though we know so much about it, it’s still in a way a mystery.”
“Just so happens your pelt looks like the moon.” Sonoran commented.
“Exactly.” Miles dipped his head. “My fur looks like the moon as well, which is another reason why I love it so much. I mean, isn’t it cool to love something that you’re already born with?”
Sonoran quietly scoffed. “But why would you love the moon so much? It’s just something that spins around Earth.”
Miles slightly smiled and began explaining. “This is what I think - the Moon is good friends with the Earth, which is why it hangs out and spins with Earth so much. The sun is also friends with both the Earth and the Moon, and they take in turns with the Moon to give Earth the days and nights it deserves.”
Sonoran hesitated. “I like the thought, but still. There’s got to be more than just ‘loving the moon’.”
Miles sighed. “I don’t even know myself. I just really like the moon, I guess.”
“Well hey, I’m not going to judge you for that.” Sonoran shrugged. “Just as long as you’re not too obsessive, I’m fine with you loving the moon so much.”
Miles secretly smiled to himself, relieved that he had met at least one other plumerian that understood him. “Thanks for hearing my thoughts, Sono.”
“No problem. Next time, try talk to me at a more reasonable time than this.” Sonoran yawned and stretched her arms wide, whilst beginning to stand up.
“Heading back home?” Miles asked. Sonoran nodded tiredly, and Miles got to his feet.

story:

❝His nails clicked gently against the grey tile of the hospital floor, his gaze directed
away from anyone he happened to pass. The sullen looks of patients and people waiting for others
repelled him. Something about it was off-putting to him. He worked as a nurse at a small hospital in
a rundown town. Honestly, he hated it here... It was always so quiet, aside from the groans that
occasionally made it through closed doors. He was pretty glad he didn't have to be the one to
operate on any of these people. He was way too squeamish for that to say the least, but he would
never admit it. And some of the plumerians there just seemed... Off.

The town wasn't exactly as clean or as safe as people would have liked. They simply just dealt with it
however. It's been like this for years, after all, and Wyius didn't think it was ever going to get better.
He stopped briefly to glance out of the window, staring blankly out at the rain that pattered the dirt
off of the window. It was disgusting, honestly. While the inside was kept clean (for the most part) the
outside surely wasn't. His grip on the clipboard tightened slightly as he squinted, seeing lightning flash.
A moment passed before thunder sounded, making him jump slightly. He hoped no one saw that. He was
always afraid of thunder and perhaps even just loud things in general, but he also hated people seeing
him scared...

"Mr. Willinoman!" Wyius' head shot up as he looked forwards. He hated his last name, but this was his boss,
so he wasn't going to complain. "Yea, yea... Coming," his voice was as dry and lifeless as ever. He stuck his
hands into his pockets quietly as he followed. "Hurry up, dammit!" His boss yelled back at him. "This is
urgent!" Wyius merely shrugged. Half of the people who had 'urgent' cases ended up dying... And it seemed
all he could do was watch as their seemingly untrained doctors struggled and panicked. But what was a nurse
to do.❞

it might take awhile to be judged, since I have things that are more important irl going on but I'll do my best to get this judged asap <3
