When I first saw this Bean, I knew that I wanted him to be from Mesopotamia. I considered naming him after the Euphrates River or Tigris River, but I also wanted something unique and different. Then, Ferdinand popped up into my mind, and I knew that this would be his name. And his last name ended up being Tigris, to help connect him to his heritage.

Ferdinand is always looking for adventure, whether it be exploring outdoors, or finding an old board game in his attic. He lives for adventure, he lives for the rush of adrenaline when he finds something new, he lives for the awe inspiring beauty of nature, he lives for the spirit of nature. Ferdinand is very rarely at home because of this, and travels around the world, which he considers to be his career. He also reflects what many call the spirit of adventure: brave, courageous, wild, and open.

Ferdinand is a very clever Bean. He always has a quick retort or sarcastic remark at the ready, and he always says something witty in almost every conversation he's in. Ferdinand is also a master of bad puns, but he prefers to toss that aside when he calls himself the master of wit.

After living for as long as he has, it's hard for Ferdinand to not have learned anything throughout his life. Some say that he's "wise", but really he isn't. He's more shrewd, and has good judgement. Thankfully, not many Beans come to him asking for advice. It's not that he doesn't want to help anyone, but he would rather spend his time reading or exploring than potentially giving bad or unhelpful advice.

Ferdinand is also a very smart Bean. He's gathered a lot of knowledge from traveling around the world. He can speak bits and pieces of several different languages, knows about the culture of almost every country, and has observed strange new creatures in places like the Amazon. Now, Ferdinand doesn't talk with a pretentious prose; he's very laid back and easy going. The only time he might be like that is when he's writing.

Ferdinand is full of energy, even when he wakes up at three in the morning and can't sleep. His energetic nature always lightens the mood, though sometimes he can accidentally make things worse by being too energetic. Because of this, Ferdinand is always smiling. It takes a lot to make him mad, or to get him upset. His care free energy helps him to look on the bright side of things, and keeps him from being negative.

Ferdinand is the kind of Bean that thinks before he speaks. He's also the kind of Bean that asks questions like, "Are there other Jellybean Dragons in the Universe?" at night to help calm him down and go to sleep. Ferdinand sometimes likes to think about philosophical questions too, but would rather not discuss his opinion on those questions. It can take Ferdinand a while to make a decision sometimes, simply because he wants to know every possible outcome that could happen if he say, decided to go hang-gliding or bungee jumping.

ＨＩＳＴＯＲＹ

Ferdinand was raised in Mesopotamia. His egg first appeared in the bud of the first flower to ever bloom on Earth. It was several thousand years before he finally hatched as a young child, unused to the world around him. He was taken in by a middle aged couple in Mesopotamia, where he was born and then raised. His mother, Maia, father, Ghet, and brother, Po, lived together on a rather large farm. Ferdinand and his brother were very close, even though they looked completely different and were often cast aside by the rest of society. Together, Ferdinand and his family worked the fields, harvesting crops as the seasons came and went. It came as a surprise to him when he was still a young Bean and his family members were aging rapidly. It wasn't until the time of the Ming Dynasty that Ferdinand realized that he aged much slower than everyone else. He still doesn't know why, but it doesn't bother him. For him, his goal in life is to give life, which he considers the true way to live forever. Currently, Ferdinand resides in Egypt.

ＳＥＣＲＥＴＳ

Ferdinand has one, big, secret that he's never told anyone except for his journal (which he doesn't count, since he tells his journal everything). Oh, what's the secret you ask? I'm not sure if Ferdinand will be happy about it, but secretly, he loves video games. Most Beans see him as a tree-hugging, earth-loving kind of guy and would never except him to sit in front of a screen to do anything. Whenever its dreary out, or Ferdinand is sick, he likes to stay inside and play some League. He doesn't have too much time in his life to play video games though. He says that it relaxes him, kind of like how reading relaxes other Beans. His favorite games to play are League of Legends and Minecraft.

ＬＩＦＥＳＴＹＬＥ

Ferdinand is a traveler, a lover of the land and speaker of the soul (or something odd like that). He doesn't really have a specific place to call home. He does have a house, in Egypt, but its more of a storage unit to him. Ferdinand spends his days exploring; whether it be around the world, or in his backyard. He's the type of Bean that lives as he goes. He never plans anything ahead of time, preferring to let things happen. Ferdinand is very carefree, though he is a touch rude when other Beans come to ask him for his help. His studies of the Earth are much more important to him.

ＨＯＢＢＩＥＳ

✑ мακıиg feαтħeя ħeαđđяeššeš // In his other free time, Ferdinand likes to get artsy. He learned how to make feather headdresses from Native Americans, before the continent was colonized. He's continued to do so ever since, as if he were carrying on a tradition of sorts. Ferdinand usually uses the feathers of birds that he collects as he travels. Sometimes, he'll sell a headdress, but mostly, he gives them away to those who want them.
✒ ωħıттłıиg // Ferdinand learned to whittle from an old lady that he lived with for a while. He called her Grandma Mae, an interesting woman who was full of character. He doesn't get to whittle as much as he used too, when he lived with her, but he does have quite a collection of carvings. Ferdinand prefers to whittle animals he spots on his travels to the Amazon.

ＨＡＢＩＴＳ

Ferdinand isn't a Bean of habit. Every day is different for him, for the most part. However, he does do one "awful" thing, as Grandma Mae would say, which is biting his nails. He can't help it, and he doesn't know why he does it or where he picked it up from. Also, Ferdinand is a fan of saying rad. It's more of a quirk than a habit, but he says it pretty often.

ＰＨＯＢＩＡＳ

✑ đαяκ // Ferdinand is 110 percent afraid of the dark. He has to sleep with a nightlight or a small fire or flashlight on otherwise he can't sleep. Some Beans say its an irrational fear, but Ferdinand always feels like there's something out in the dark watching him.
✒ đчıиg αłøиe // Ferdinand doesn't want to die alone. He's afraid that he'll be out in the wild and die without anyone around, or be on his deathbed without friends around him. He knows a few Beans that he could call friends, but he could be away in Brazil while they are at home in Egypt, unable to go and see him.
✑ ωøяłđ ωαя тħяee // Even though Ferdinand is not a huge environmentalist, he's afraid of what World War Three could bring. And its not just the plants he's worried about, its everything. He fears that Earth would go from a lush, teeming globe to a dead rock.

Oh look! A feather headdress.
I guess that was kind of obvious.
I like to make those things, though mine are very colorful.
That one, I didn't make, its a drawing that someone else did.
Sometimes, I'll sell my headdresses for a little extra cash,
or because someone refused to take it for free.
Mostly, though, I give them away;
I've seen a lot of little kids wearing them.

I learned how to make them from a Native American,
his name was Nahuel.
Nice man, very intelligent. And he was in tune to nature,
much more that I was, am, or ever will be.
He told me, "It is wise to show you to make
feather head, for in the future,
none shall remember my name."

ＡＮＴＨＲＯ ＦＯＲＭ

In his human/anthro form, Ferdinand is quite the looker. He's tall, standing at a staggering six foot six inches even. He has long, dark brown hair with lighter brown highlights, along with some artificial blue color that he added in. His face is chiseled almost, with a pointed upturned nose, high cheekbones, and thin lips. His skin is a nice shade of tan from being out in the sun so much. His eyes are a stormy grey color, though he puts in contacts to make them gold colored. Ferdinand has a casual look about him, and seems to be very approachable.

ＬＡＢＥＬＳ

✑ ħıρρıe // Most Beans label Ferdinand as a hippie when the first see him. He figures its because of the way he dresses and the fact that he travels around the world. However, this label is completely inaccurate because Ferdinand is not a hippie in any way, shape or form.
✒ тяee ħυggeя // Once realizing that Ferdinand isn't a hippie, most think that he's a tree-hugger or an environmentalist. While Ferdinand does love the environment, and doesn't want it to be destroyed, he's all about making technological advancements to help better the lives of everything.
✑ šeяıøυš // A lot of Beans view Ferdinand as a serious intellectual. Its probably because of the way he describes his travels, or the fact that he's had a couple of papers published on topics like Western influences in third-world countries or the social impact of bananas in the society of baboons. While Ferdinand isn't the super serious type of guy, he's not the party type either and is more in between.

ＮＵＭＢＥＲ １２－２２

Number 12-22 is a nickname born from the online connection of Ferdinand's Xbox. He thinks that he was playing a video game some day, probably Dead Space, and someone had called him that. Why? He doesn't know. Since then, everyone on Xbox started calling him that. There are a few select people in real life that also use the nickname, but Ferdinand prefers to be called Ferdinand by them. Really, its only okay for Beans to call him that when he's gaming. It's almost like a video game call sign for him.

It's such a gorgeous place,

I like to visit this place as often as I can,

Grandma Mae was an elderly woman who lived in London. She saw teenage Ferdinand wandering the streets, and decided to take him in. Her goal was to turn him into a civilized, well educated gentlemen. She sent him to boarding school, and often taught lessons about life herself. Together, they took care of the house and garden, and they would walk together along the streets of London as they ran errands. Grandma Mae soon disappeared one day, and Ferdinand has not been able to find her since.

Nahuel means "star" in Mapuche. Nahuel was the Native American that taught Ferdinand how to make feather headdresses. Ferdinand stayed with him for a couple of years, before he died hunting. They were close friends, and often would discuss many aspects of Native American culture together.

Mαıα
Maia is Ferdinand's mother. She was a kind young woman with straight black hair. She was loving and sweet, taking care of her children with great care. She often helped to cultivate the land, and sometimes cleaned the house they lived in. Maia taught Ferdinand the basics of language, and how to interact with others.

Ghet was an older man, tough and strong. He was a bit rough with his children, but loved them all the same. He spent his days farming and herding cattle, teaching Ferdinand and Po to live off the land. He was the type of father that worked from dawn to dusk, stopping only to eat.

Pø
Po is Ferdinand's brother, both of whom were the same age. He was rambunctious, fun loving, and an overall energetic Bean. Po was always pulling pranks on Ferdinand, and the two were always playing silly games together.

Aij (айж) is a Mongolian word meaning 'feared'. I chose this for both the simplicity and catchyness of the word, and the meaning I wish to give it. Due to the media's portrayal of Velociraptor, they are one of the most fearsome creature known, in some cases even more so that the infamous Tyrannosaurus Rex. I beleive that the name of 'Aij' is fitting to him for this reason, he is one to be feared for what he is. The simplicity of the word adds an excellent contrast to the complexity of his design.
