Prompt: 1. Show me/describe this pokemon doing their favorite move! How did they learn it and why is it their favorite?

Image

Being very scared of Pokémon battles and confrontation in general, Lily's favorite move is Protect! Though her shield usually comes out very weak and more reminiscent of a light screen, it can usually give her a few turns to think and calm her mind. She learned it before she was even a trainer's pokemon, hiding in the bushes as a much bigger Growlithe tracked her trail. In a fit of fear, she shielded herself with her tail and a shiny glasslike shield appeared to block its view and protect her! Ever since then, she's had a hard time controlling when it appears - if someone raises their voice, you'd better be prepared to wait for that protect to go down.

Lily's pokeball is a modified premier ball that chimes like a soothe bell. Wrapped in ribbons and covered with shiny star stickers (courtesy of Kougra), it's definitely a sight to behold!

Pokemon being used/link: Mars

Prompt:

2. Has your pokemon ever encountered a legendary? what was this like and how did it impact them?

Riley has always preached to his team that if anyone were to encounter a Legendary Pokemon, not only should it be considered as a sign, but it should also be a moment that you carry for the rest of your life. As the one who helped get Riley's team up and running by being the first member, Mars feels like he should follow what his leader says, except, several Pokemon in the team have encountered a Legendary Pokemon and are able to talk about their encounters. Except for Mars.

Of course, Mars doesn't directly tell anyone that he hasn't seen a Legendary yet. It's his actions that speak rather than words itself. When the team is gathered around telling stories about their encounters, Mars is one of the Pokemon that is silent during all the stories, only chiming in with small comments to help move the story along and perhaps give the storyteller more to go off of with questions and such.

For some reason, Mars finds it quiet embarrassing that he has yet to have his so called 'fateful' encounter with a Legendary Pokemon. Of course he's still on the younger side, but many of the stories within the team consist of Pokemon that were on the younger side when they first encountered their Legendary. And many of them think that encounter was necessary to become the Pokemon that they are today.

Although Mars is embarrassed about not meeting a Legendary and might give of signals that he doesn't believe in what Riley tries to portray to the clan, he knows that one day, he will encounter a Legendary just has many of those in the team, and when he does eventually have this encounter, he knows that he will treasure it all the same, just as those within the team.

As of now, Mars still has to sit back and listen to the stories of his peers. But someday, he will get his fateful encounter and will be able to chime in with what his encounter was like. [340]

3. What was your pokemons life like before joining the team?

Prior to joining Riley's team, Mars was a loner. He admits this every time someone from the team asks him this very question. Mars used to despise being around others as he thought that they'd eventually just throw him out and stop caring about him. Despite carrying the personality traits that a Growlithe is known for (an immense amount of loyalty to those they care about and very protective), this was all thrown out the window because of those in his past, who treated him like something very much less than a friend. Of course, at the time, Mars still thought it was worth it to make an attempt to be their friend. It wasn't until they cut him out of the group completely for him to realize what he truly meant to them.

It was that friend group that left Mars damaged, sticking to only himself for a long time until he met Riley one day when he was walking in the woods, going nowhere in particular. From the moment he met Riley in the woods that day, Mars could tell that he was equally as troubled as he was. But with Riley, he was stuck with what he wanted to do in life. He had no idea where life was taking him and if he wanted to follow this path. In reality, Riley wanted to go on adventures and explore the world, but he also wanted to do this with allies behind him. Friends behind him.

Mars cringed at the thought of a group of friends. But he was the one who decided to sit down and have a talk with Riley. Who was he to deny him the advice, even with his old friends ditching him in the past. He had someone in front of him who was determined to be different and do something special in his life. That's when Mars told Riley that he had an idea for him. He could make a Pokemon Team, full of those that wanted adventure just like him. They could travel the region, looking for treasure, training themselves to be better, and overall having fun.

The answer on Riley's face said everything. Mars had helped him come up with what he wanted to do in life. It was then where Mars stood up, gave a curt nod to the Riolu, and began to walk away. But almost immediately, the Riolu jumped in front of him with a big smile on his face, extending a hand to him. He remembers Riley's words almost as the scene happened yesterday.

"Where are you going?"

"Away." Mars replied in a grumpy tone.

"Why?"

"No one has given me any reason to stay in the past, so I stick to myself." Mars' tone was icy this time, and he could tell it surprised the Riolu. But it also made him even more determined, as the Riolu placed his hands on his hips and smiled.

"Well, if you haven't noticed, I'm not like most Pokemon! Therefore...." He pointed directly at Mars. "I'm making you this offer. I'm going to create a Pokemon Team right here right now. And you're going to be my very first member! I'll show you that you're good and worth being around. So what do you say? Will you join me and give me a chance?"

Mars remembers that he was hesitant accepting Riley's offer to join the team at first. But within a few moments, the Growlithe held out his paw to Riley's and shook it as if they were making some sort of business deal.

It was then that Mars realized he had a true friend that day. The day when he joined the team after living a life of loneliness when all he wanted was company all of this time. Riley changed that for him. And Mars can't thank him enough, even to this day. [467]

5. What is your Pokémons personality?

Mars has the stereotypical personality traits that most Growlithe's are expected to have. They're brave, not giving a care in the world if the opponent that they are up against is bigger and stronger looking than them. They'll put up a fight just the same. Not only that, but Growlithe's are also trustworthy and loyal, having their companions back no matter what. This is probably the more well known trait and what makes a Growlithe, well, a Growlithe.

Those within the team would agree that Mars fits these traits to a T. He is small but fierce, always willing to put up a fight if need be. And when it comes to those that he loves, Mars would do anything for them. He always has their back and would never to do anything to ruin the established trust between them. He wants the team to be able to come to him for issues and know that they have a friend that cares for them immensely, and that if need be, he would fight for them.

But of course, those traits don't solely define who Mars is as a Pokemon. After spending time with Mars, one will come to find that he is a complete goofball, cracking jokes all the time. If he gets the opportunity to make a joke, you better watch out, because he will take that window of opportunity without a doubt. But this is only if you get to know him.

For newcomers within the team, Mars will seem quite reserved and wary. But this is just until he decides whether or not he can trust them. This is something that proves to be a quick process, as many of the Pokemon that join the team go through Riley first, and Riley makes sure to bring in trustworthy Pokemon to begin with. Mars almost acts as the last barrier, trying to see if Riley missed anything. If a newcomer passes Mars' 'inspection' of sorts, then they're home free and accepted in the team without a doubt. Which also means they get to experience Mars' bubbling personality. His bravery, loyalty, and goofiness, all in one small Pokemon. [359]

Prompt:

1. Show me/describe this pokemon doing their favorite move! How did they learn it and why is it their favorite?

It was early morning, the sun was just beginning to rise, and Basil was out and about by himself. Today he decided that he wanted to get up bright and early so he could get in some practice with some of his moves. He was hoping that he would be able to increase his accuracy by getting a little extra practice in, but in all, he just wanted to see how far he has come ever since he joined the team.

Pokemon within the team battled all the time. There was never a day without a battle, and Basil had experienced a good eighty percent of them. Some were long lived battles, while others were short, as the opponents were outmatched. But they tried their hand at a battle anyway, even if it meant they were walking into a quick defeat. It was the joy of being a team. Everyone was there for each other and everyone was willing to help one another grow to be the best they could be.

For Basil though, he found that he was good on the sidelines. Observing taught him a lot, which is why he attended almost every battle. He was a visual learner. And then after each battle, Basil would take what he learned and apply it to the little 'punching bag' he had made for himself for the very reason of practice. In order to make the punching bag, he filled it with soft things like leaves and grass, and then covered it with several layers of webbing, using the move string shot.

It was such a simple move that Basil didn't use much when it came to practice. He was commonly found using physical moves such as tackle and poison sting.

As Basil continued to draw nearer toward his practice place, he decided that he might want a break after practicing, therefore he found a perfect spot right between a few trees and aimed to land a string shot on both ends. Once he had string attached to both sides of the trees, he used string shot on the middle, making a little hammock for himself to rest comfortably in after he was done.

After making the hammock, Basil continued on toward his training area where his makeshift punching bag was to get a start for the day. As he travelled, however, a thought came to his brain. With the webbing string shot contained, Basil found himself using it a lot for recreational use, such as a few moments ago with the hammock and then during the time he made his punching bag. It was then when a smile appeared across his face. Although string shot wasn't a move he used in battle, it was still a fun move to use regardless. It could be used for just about anything. It was that thought that caused Basil to realize that his favorite move to use, wasn't even used in battle. In fact, it was used for everything else other than battling.

And perhaps that's why it became his favorite move to use. You could do more with it other than battling. [521]

3. What was your pokemons life like before joining the team?

To say the least, Wurmple's are tiny. It makes the species an easy target for bird Pokemon, which tend to be common natural enemies. Because of this fact, most Wurmple live in fear. At any moment, a bird Pokemon trying to play some sick joke could swoop down and pick them up using their talons. Basil was one of the many Wurmple's that lived in fear of bird Pokemon, thinking of all of them as bad, even if he hadn't encountered one before. If it looked like a bird, then it was automatically bad. This fear drove Basil to hide for a majority of his life before joining Riley's Pokemon team.

Basil found that he couldn't go out in open areas and that he had to stay in large forests, where trees could block him from view of potential enemies looking to have a go at the weakling that they thought he was. After all, it was also a known fact that many Wurmple didn't have good attacking moves compared to others. The most they had was a simple tackle and poison sting, but that could only get them so far depending on what the bird Pokemon was and what level it was. If Basil was significantly under levelled, then the damage dealt on said opponent would be little to none. So that's why he lived in large forests where the trees could block him from view.

There were also several times where Basil was found lost in thought, pondering about what life he could have if he didn't have to live in fear. Or better yet, he thought about life as a different species of Pokemon completely. Sometimes he found himself wishing that he hadn't hatched as a Wurmple, but as something else entirely, like a Groudon. Large and strong, living without fear of any opponents that may cross its path. But sadly enough for Basil, this couldn't change.

For many months, Basil had his same routine day after day. Waking up, making his way out of the tree he called his home, looking for any danger that might be present if he were to leave his home, climbing down the tree to get food for the day, stopping to look for danger every so often, finally making his way to a bush where he would take berries, and then repeat this entire process returning home with the berries he found.

Then, Basil met Riley. And all of the sudden, Basil didn't feel weak anymore. The day he met Riley, he had actually hid from him, thinking that he was an enemy going to hurt him. But he would soon learn that hurting others wasn't in the vocabulary of the Riolu. Instead, he was going around trying to find Pokemon that wanted to travel the world and go on adventures. This excited Basil more than anything. The thought of not living in fear. The thought of being elsewhere aside the tree that he called his home. Everything Riley offered him was apart of who he truly wanted to be. He wanted to not only not live in fear, but be stronger. He wanted to prove to others that even though he was small, he could do just as much as they could. So that day, Basil accepted Riley's offer to join his team. From then on out, Basil put himself right to work, trying to reform himself.

At first, it was a difficult process. There were many Pokemon of all shapes and sizes. Many he hadn't seen before. Many scary looking Pokemon. But then he thought about why Riley had asked him to join his team. It was then that Basil knew that not every Pokemon larger than him was bad. They were all here for the same reason. They had a sense of adventure, and being apart of a team fulfilled that very sense that they all sought after.

So the first day joining the team, Basil knew he was right where he needed to be.

Basil knew that everything was going to be alright and that he didn't have to live in fear any longer.

He may be tiny, but he knew that he would be mighty. [700]

Pokemon being used/link: Star

Prompt: 2. Has your pokemon ever encountered a legendary? what was this like and how did it impact them?

Star once encountered Giratina, one day when Giratina returned to the normal world to plunge it into eternal night. Many trainers and pokemon have suffered from this curse instilled by this once banished legend, but Star was undeterred. So, with the help of his trainer and a group of friends, they set up a league of survivors in an attempt to face the pokemon. One of their first missions was to calm wild pokemon who had gone mad from Giratina's aura. Afterwards, they had to split up so that one group could find the Lustrous Orb to wake Palkia from her deep sleep, while the other group went to deal with the Adamant Orb to wake Dialga. Thus, they knew they would be able to defeat Giratina, and return the world to its normal state.
Star was tasked with retrieving Dialga's orb. Very attached to his mission, he went with his trainer and their group to a temple where they braved many deadly traps, before recovering their treasure. But on returning to town, they discovered that the other group had fallen into a Giratina trap, which prevented them from retrieving the Lustrous Orb, and without the two orbs, they couldn't awaken the other two legendaries! Immediately, the group went to help their friends, but they themselves fell into a trap. But when all seemed lost, Star avoided the trap in extremist, thanks to his Protect attack, and he managed to recover the second orb, while his trainer threw the first one at him, before disappearing into a black hole summoned by Giratina. The last hopes of humanity now rested between the legs of a somewhat clumsy Ambipom, who no longer had the right to make mistakes. Then, Star escaped as he could from Giratina, and managed in extremist to put the orbs back to their original location, which woke up Palkia and Dialga. As soon as they woke up, these two confronted their brother and banished him again, which brought sunshine and peace to the world. Star had just succeeded, and even obtained the gratitude of Arceus himself who came to bless him, while a statue of him was inherited in town. Star had become a hero!
...
Wait, I believe this is the storyline of the movie "Giratina the Return" just released in theaters and created by Pokéstar Studios... Yes, all this was too good to be true, but Star tends to think that this movie actually happened, when he was just a simple actor in the middle of special effects. Poor Ambipom...

( 424 words )

5. What is your Pokémons personality?

Star is a pokémon that loves to brag. He loves his movies more than anything in the world, but he tends to confuse his movies with reality which causes him a lot of trouble in normal life. He can also quickly get offended if he is not served what he asks for, to the great despair of his trainer, who often regrets having made him a movie star. For Star, life is the same as his acting role, as he doesn't quite understand why ordinary life should be so boring in comparison. With that, it's also normal that he hates people who don't like his movies, because for him, they're all great and exceptional, and to criticize them negatively, especially for no valid reason other than a simple "I don't dislike" is inadmissible. He can't stand failure, and tends to let it be known. Additionally, his favorite drink is a delicious berry juice cocktail, and his favorite food is the luxurious dishes at Pokéstar Studios. Star knows that he is a star, and he loves to brag about it, even if he agrees to mix with people who are not themselves, even if obviously, the others generally find him very annoying and boastful, and can't stay with him for long.

Pokemon being used/link: Cirrus

Prompt:

    3. What was your pokemon's life like before joining the team? [601 words]

Cirrus had enjoyed a solitary existence for as long as they could remember- never once considering the thought of joining a team. They made their hope high in the mountains, among the snow and ice and wispy clouds from which they took their name, pleased with the quiet and solitude. Though skilled enough at fighting, should the need ever arise, they never came across any serious opponents or challenges that could not be overcome, and lived in relative peace for an untold number of years- a tidbit that Cirrus is still not quite willing to disclose to their new teammates.

Their joining the team was something of a random occurrence- Cirrus was roosting on the mountain, waiting out a particularly nasty snowstorm, when the sound of voices reached them. With a jolt of worry, Cirrus realized that there might be travelers lost in the storm, and that they would surely freeze without help. Venturing out from their shelter, Cirrus called upon the energy stored in their orbs to clear away the storm. It had been awhile since they'd attempted to influence the weather on this large a scale, but eventually the clouds began to fade back, clearing a large space for Cirrus to see ahead. It was rather like the eye of a hurricane- a brief space of calm, with swirling plumes of snow churning all around.

It was an odd, bedraggled group that Cirrus stumbled upon- a tall zoroark, cradling a furret and a plusle in her arms, hunched over to protect her smaller companions against the cold. A shaggy furred yamper, with his side pressed firmly against that of a luxio, the two of them huddling for warmth. Bewildered, the small band looked up at Cirrus with a range of expressions. The plusle perked up almost immediately, looking awestruck, and the yamper wagged his tail slowly in appreciation. The others looked polite enough, but wary- and the glare of the zoroark was particularly piercing as she looked Cirrus over.

"I can't hold the storm back indefinitely," Cirrus said, noting that their voice was a little bit hoarse from disuse- living on a mountaintop and not really having anyone to talk to would do that. "Come with me if you want some shelter."

Though the zoroak looked like she might otherwise have argued, the yamper bounded ahead to walk alongside Cirrus, the luxio following more tentatively- and so she heaved a sigh and followed, still holding firmly onto her smaller friends. The bedraggled party reached the small cave where Cirrus made their home- and inexplicably, they felt a bit embarrassed by the bareness of the walls.

"You can stay here as long as you need," they said, turning to appraise the group. "I do not have much, but you are welcome to any supplies you might need."

The company turned out to be enjoyable, much to Cirrus' surprise. Even the mistrustful-seeming zoroark loosened up enough to help Cirrus fix a rudimentary soup from their limited resources. And when the exhausted group of travelers had all fallen asleep beside the smoldering embers of their makeshift fire- Cirrus allowed themself a small grin. It had been... cluttered, having all these strangers in their dwelling place. But it had not been altogether unpleasant.

And so when the strangers set out the next morning, Cirrus opted to accompany them, claiming that somebody needed to be around to protect them from inclement weather. When they left the mountains behind them- Cirrus paused to say goodbye to their previous home, a solemn sillhouette on the horizon, and then continued onward, forging ahead with their new team.

    5. What is your pokemon's personality? [204 words]

Cirrus is a soft-spoken and contemplative character- a counterbalance to the more excitable members of the team, but also to the more cynical view of certain others on the team (namely Raleigh, who still does not particularly trust them). After a long life of solitude, with much time for self reflection and meditation to pass the time, they possess an air of quiet wisdom that makes them a calming influence to those who are overly energetic or stressed. They tend to disappear for long periods of time, to practice their meditations and also hone their abilities. This withdrawn nature, however, does not mean that they are lacking in empathy: Cirrus is exceptionally gentle in most everything they do, taking extreme care with laborious tasks and social interactions alike. Some of their mannerisms can come off as bit clinical and detached, but despite occasional awkwardness in dealing with mundanities of day to day conversation and interaction with others, Cirrus does care quite deeply about the lives and wellbeing of others, especially their teammates. Overall, their presence is a blessing to the team- they help settle disputes, plan logistical moves, and transporting goods, depending on the day and the way in which their skills are needed.

    7. What are your pokemon's relationships with others like? [801 words]

      -Snatch
Cirrus' relationship Snatch is a cordial one, though a bit strained in some ways. They seem to hold a fair amount of respect for the founder of the guild, and respect the commitment that Snatch has to his missions and ideals- but at the same time can come off as a bit dismissive of Snatch's propensity for nervousness and overthinking, and their attempts at soothing him can come off as brisk and unsympathetic rather than helpful. Another point of complication is Snatch's closeness to Sylph, whom Cirrus actively despises. This is perhaps their most major point of disagreement with Snatch, and though the two are able to work together in a professional setting, or in times of crisis, Cirrus is quick to change the subject if it turns to certain subjects. They may not agree with Snatch on everything, but would rather not speak ill of him.

      -Marley
Cirrus is not sure what to make of Marley. Though they can respect his easygoing nature- and in some ways find themself envious of the ease with which the yamper can interact with and befriend others- his laziness is immensely offputting to them. The irony of it is that some might accuse Cirrus of the same behavior, what with their tendency to wait around until they feel their intervention is strictly necessary, but Cirrus maintains that the two circumstances are entirely different, that they remain vigilant and ready to help even when Marley has dozed off, lazy as he is- but who knows? Perhaps the dynamic between these two only goes to exemplify the notion that we see in others a reflection of ourselves- and the flaws Cirrus may perceive in Marley are mirrors of things that they themself ought to work on as well.

      -Mikah
Cirrus cannot help but find Mikah's boundless enthusiasm endearing, and views him almost like a younger brother figure of sorts. Certainly they feel like an older sibling, or even a parent, with the number of times they've had to whisk him out of harm's way due to his own overflowing curiosity. Exasperated though they may seem, though, they're deeply fond of the little plusle, and would do anything to keep him safe.

      -Rigel
Cirrus has a great deal of respect for Rigel. Though young, the adventurous luxio is resourceful, and more than capable of looking out for himself and his teammates. They greatly admire his preparedness and willingness to help others- and it is due to his thoroughness that Cirrus feels on many occasions as though they need not intervene, for they have every confidence in Rigel's ability to look out for those he's assigned with. For his part, Rigel seems unaware of the other pokemon's admiration- if anything, he seems to become a bit nervous when approached by Cirrus, perhaps fearing that he is about to get scolded. Puzzling fellow.

      -Wesley
The young fletchinder is another member of the guild's rescue teams that Cirrus feels a good deal of fondness for. She's got a good head on her shoulders, and is skilled at assessing the risk of adventures or missions that she and her compatriots may undertake. It's thanks in part to her quick thinking and knack for strategy that the guild is as efficient as it is, and though Cirrus isn't as actively involved as some may hope or wish- in fact, Wesley herself has expressed frustration at their inconsistency in that regard- they can still appreciate the grace with which she conducts herself.

      -Raleigh
These two actually have a great deal in common- for one, both are rather inscrutable characters, though Cirrus gives off more an airy wisdom than Raleigh's tired (and frankly, almost frightening) aura. For another, they are both deeply protective of their teammates, stepping in however might be necessary to help their friends. For all their similarities, though, Cirrus and Raleigh do not interact much- perhaps because they would be likely to butt heads. Or, alternatively, it's possible that they're not sure how to start a conversation, neither of them being particularly fond of nor skilled at lengthy social calls. Theirs is more of a distant respect than anything resembling a friendship.

      -Sylph
Of all the pokemon in the guild houses, Sylph is by far Cirrus' least favorite. The trickster, mistakenly released by Snatch from some type of imprisonment, is not someone to be trusted- Cirrus is sure of it. Sylph has seemed perfectly content to relax around the guild, bothering Snatch and helping with administrative tasks and the odd mission- but Cirrus maintains their dislike, and does not trust him in the slightest. Sylph is unbearably smug, always knows more than he should, and almost certainly has a nefarious scheme (or several!) somewhere up his metaphorical sleeves. Cirrus is continually keeping an eye on this decided rival of theirs.

    8. Where does your pokemon live? [210 words]

The guild Cirrus has come to belong to has two outposts- one at the foot of a mountain range and overlooking the desert, the other near the summit of the first peak. The lower outpost serves as a garden and meeting space, an "oasis" for travelers looking to rest after making it out of the desert or prior to venturing into the blazing sands. The higher outpost is more of a cabin, a "checkin" point, where travelers can take up lodgings, or where members of their own guild can rest when the weather gets too tough to make the journey back down the mountain.

For their own part, Cirrus has taken to hanging around the upper outpost more- it is cozier for certain, and not uncommon to see Cirrus curled in a chair before the fire, sound asleep. But additionally, its being situated up in the mountains makes it almost a sentimental thing to Cirrus, who had lived on frozen mountains for much of their early life. They enjoy the colder atmosphere, as it reminds them of their previous home- and being nearby to the mountain trail enables Cirrus to use their weather controlling abilities to help ease the journey of the wanderers who might come through their front door.

    9. What does your pokemon do? [216 words]

Cirrus is not formally employed by the guild that they live with- they're not as enthusiastic about hunting for treasures or completing deliveries as some of their compatriots, and their motivations are sometimes a bit hard to discern. They do step in on occasion to help with rescuse missions, however, though even this is not entirely predictable. If the guild members dispatched seem to have things well in hand, Cirrus will see no need to make an appearance. However, it seems sometimes like when any of the team get in over their heads, Cirrus will appear to their aid. They prefer not to expend unnecessary effort, and leave their teammates to jobs they can handle. Some of the more sour among the guild call this selfish- Cirrus prefers to think of their choices as pragmatic and perfectly sensible, as it's not like they're sitting by allowing others to come to unnecessary harm. Whatever misgivings the others may have about Cirrus' conduct with regards to missions, it's undeniable to all that they provide another useful service to the guild as well: harnessing the weather. Cirrus prefers not to obstruct the natural progression of weather, but when heavy storms threaten the safety of their guildmates or their home, they'll step in to redirect them as best they can.
