♠ prompt :At one point, her whole world was a flower-shop.
When she was younger, she used to walk by the same florist shop with her parents on their way to school.
From the outside, she could only catch a glimpse of the wonderful things within. So every day, she’d ask her parents the same question,” Please, can we go in, just once?” And every day they told her another story, of how late they’d be to work, or how worried her friends would be about her, or whatever else.
In truth they just didn’t have the heart to tell her no, all because they couldn’t afford to buy the expensive cut flowers. And though they’d love to start a garden of their own, neither had the time. Still, one day after saving enough to buy a small bouquet, they surprised her by walking straight in.
Immediately surrounded by vibrant colors and smells, her jaw dropped. Everywhere she looked there was something new to discover, leaving her bouncing on her heels as they headed towards the counter. Laughing, her parents told to pick a few flowers, whichever she wanted.
How could she possibly choose?
Eventually she asked for help, hoping for ones that would last. Unfortunately, even the longest lasting flowers died after a few weeks.
The store owners—a lovely old married couple—claimed to have just the thing. Pulling out a large pot, a bag of dirt and fertilizer, and a curious little box, they promised that with the proper dedication she’d have as many flowers as her heart desired.
Practically pleading, she promised her parents she’d be responsible and take care of them, and they agreed. That day they planted the seeds together, and even now, years later, she still reaps the most beautiful orange daylilies she’s ever seen.
