Leanna’s Childhood

She grew up with a normal life in a bustiling city and seemed happy, though she wasn’t.
Leanna has always struggled with depression from a young age because of bullying . Bullying caused many traumatic experiences for her. Everyday she would come home with scissor marks etched into her skin from those who had cut her.“Leanna, Leanna” her parents would call under her door. Though Leanna’s brain filterd their soothing voices to the mad cackles of the bullies. “Ugly, ugly, ugly!” Some screamed. “Stupid, pathetic, broken-headed” Others enough One day, Leanna had enough. The leader of the Kalons bullying her, Pearl, came over and shoved Leanna to the ground. Without thinking of the consequences, Leanna got up and punched Pearl hard in the face. She was acutely aware of the screaming behind her. She picked up Pearl by the collar and began to strangle her only to be pulled away by a teacher. Leanna still has nightmares about that day.

Leanna’s life is now somewhat different. She went from a meek depressed child to a solo fierce fighter. Ever since the apocalypse, things definitely changed. It began with radiation and ended with Kalons changing form to them eventually devolving a craving for kalon flesh. She chooses not to create friendly or romantic relationships due to a horrible experience of her losing her friend in front of her.

good queen dominia held up her crown
and while she brought good, as any queen should,
those who were hers put her straight in the ground.
she was peaceful and righteous, doing all she could do,
changing ways of our past, but her reign didn't last,
though the gentleness she brought would continue on through.
it was her guards, who she loved from the start,
and with one single slice, they took her poor life,
but good queen dominia lives on in our hearts.

xxx she's dead. well, in a technical sense, she's alive, of course, living and breathing, the whole nine yards, but nia knows that she was dead at one point. supposed to be dead still. but why isn't she dead now? she should still be six feet under, right? aside from clawing out of her grave, it's mostly a mystery.
xxx nia doesn't remember the exact details of it all. she recalls being cornered, with a figure in front of her being thrown aside, only to be met with a flash of white, and bang- that's all she knows. after that, it was only darkness. warmth. and eventually, she got to where she is now. she can't quite nail the details of that either, aside from a young man in a green coat. everything else, besides that, seems fuzzy. dreamlike.
xxx but would she say she isn't happy? well, she wasn't happy, but she wasn't unhappy, just... content. nia wasn't in the best situation, but it wasn't the worst, either- she was left with a small sum of money, and while it could help cover costs for the first few months, nia's found herself with a job at the local bookstore. it's not the best, but it's cozy, to her. the quiet atmosphere and the smell of the books is really good for her, and for now at the very least, it's a good fit.
xxx nia's neutrality with life drives her. she isn't necessarily upset with her personality, but she just wishes she were more. she's the first to admit she's rather dull, like a husk of someone who used to be. her situation is fine, of course, and she's a polite, respectful, decent woman, but nia's personality is... blank.

xxx the man with the green coat, as she knew him, book tucked under his arm, sauntered through the front door of the bookstore. damn. he certainly knew the best time to come in, as it was empty, aside from nia sitting at the counter, and her manager doing god knows what in the back room.
xxx nia scowled. "i'm going to have to ask you to leave."
xxx "nah, i think we're good. listen, i'm not forcing you to do anything. i just want you to hear me out-"
xxx "i am not this dominia woman, alright? i'm me. my circumstances aren't clear, sure, but i'm nobody special. and honestly? i just want to be left alone."
xxx her words didn't reach the man. "listen. you're cathoria's only hope- you're one of the most powerful figures ever to walk the kingdom! you just need to hear me out. the current monarchy is corrupt, but you could-"
xxx "quiet." he immediately stopped, taken aback. "i don't know anything about what you're talking about. i get that you want some queen, or whatever, but i don't want to be involved. i'm happy!" the man raised his eyebrows. "maybe not happy. at least content, though."
xxx he paused for a moment, making sure she was done, and then flipped open his book, blowing dust out of the way. nia coughed, and he pointed down at some of the pictures taped into its pages.
xxx they were of her.
xxx images flashed through her mind, sending searing pain through her entire body. knowing she was at her limit, the man slammed the book shut. "i can't force you to follow me. but if you want answers, you'll be able to find me." he turned abruptly, and exited the store without another word.

hello again, everyone.

there were many amazing forms for this re-adoption, and i thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with and reading them all. however, quite unfortunately there were some forms that i could not consider during my final judge of the competition. if your form was incomplete or complete but said WIP somewhere on it still, your form was not considered. if your form was edited after the end date, it was not considered. and, lastly, if your art was not your own and you did not credit it [even for moodboards], your form was not considered.

now onto results.

i was planning to give away some items and myos to the people i felt deserved them, but unfortunately with the current circumstances i cannot do so. i appreciate everyone's patience despite how much of a mess this became, and i want to quickly give a shoutout to everyone who i think would have deserved prizes if i'd been able to give them [basically, if i could give hms, these would be the winners]:

i had tons of fun reading your forms! each one of you had amazing stories, ranging from forest hunter and tribesman to pirate to oracle to defected queen. i absolutely adored each of your entries, and the only real advice i have is to keep writing! the more you do it, the better you'll become. it can be hard to show people something in under 1,000 words, but being concise is really important for short competitions like this. in addition, for some of you the images you made no longer showed up or were invalid--make sure you're not moving your stashes around, or your images could disappear! overall, please keep at it. you all did very well.

your story of love really had me reeling by the time i was done with your form. i'm a little partial to it because even though i identify as bisexual, i've really only had strong feelings for girls in the past. the whole thing was very sweet overall, but left me with a lot of questions about devin herself. i really hope you can find a lover for helvanna--one that will take good care of her until the very end.
