Kora was born on the coast of Egypt, after she was born her mother thought her child had been cursed by demons so in tears she wrapped her child in jewelry then placed her in a wooden box and had her sister toss Kora into the ocean. Assuming Kora had drowned and the gods accepted the jewelry as an offering, the child had been perfectly fine, being able to breathe as the box had floated only being underwater for short periods of time, but it helped her develop holding her breath longer at an early age. What Kora and her mother did not know was her child hadn't been 'cursed by demons' but had ichthyosis and born without hindlegs. Kora was never given a name, on a panel inside the wooden box wrote 'Kora' in black paint and therefore assumed that was her name, the box was very brittle and within an hour had fell apart, with her eyes wide open all she saw was a blurry blue.

A lone dolphin found her and raised her for a couple years until she knew how to swim and find food for herself, but Kora wouldn't leave the dolphin for she thought it was her mother so she stuck around for most of her childhood. Aside teaching the basics, the dolphin who she named Cassandra yet enjoys calling her 'Casa' for short, had taught her how to communicate with the clicks and noises dolphins usually made in a way they spoke to each other including showing her hidden caves and secret places in the ocean that even the other sea critters don't know of. Kora loved Casa so much, she almost idolized the dolphin for some time she thought she was one doing flips clicking her tongue
