Two forces in an eternal fight,
Can either brighten or dim your sight.
The Chaos can be hidden,
As Order is over-ridden.

Lurking in the shadows,
The Night with all its hallows.
The silence getting louder,
And the Moon growing prouder.

The echoes of lost whispers,
Can be heard as only whimpers.
As prayers spoken to the Moon,
Fall deaf upon Night's cocoon.

The Night opens its arms,
To take what must be taken.
As the moon disappears,
With the sudden drops of tears.

as they are my kin.

Perhaps I have given you a fright,
For I carry with me a simple blight,
That can and will consume,
Those who realise too late,
That looks can be deceiving,
In this time of merciless thieving.

[Cinnamon Heart]

The sky goes black
As stars light up,
And I look up
Towards the sky.

The night is back,
Day's time is up,
Another day
Has just passed by.

I wonder why
Time flies so fast,
And why the sun
Just cannot stay.

I'm thinking back
Towards the past,
And all the fun
I had today.

Well, it's the end of the day
And I wish I could stay.
But the night is the night,
And I can't keep sleep at bay,
So what else should I say?
I'll just wish you good night.

Hard Night

What words or harder gift
does the light require of me
carving from the dark
this difficult tree?

What place or farther peace
do I almost see
emerging from the night
and heart of me?

The sky whitens, goes on and
on. Fields wrinkle into rows
of cotton, go on and on.
Night like a fling of crows
disperses and is gone.

What song, what home,
what calm or one clarity
can I not quite come to,
never quite see:
this field, this sky, this tree.

Eternities before the first-born day,
Or ere the first sun fledged his wings of flame,
Calm Night, the everlasting and the same,
A brooding mother over chaos lay.
And whirling suns shall blaze and then decay,
Shall run their fiery courses and then claim
The haven of the darkness whence they came;
Back to Nirvanic peace shall grope their way.

So when my feeble sun of life burns out,
And sounded is the hour for my long sleep,
I shall, full weary of the feverish light,
Welcome the darkness without fear or doubt,
And heavy-lidded, I shall softly creep
Into the quiet bosom of the Night.
