Username; Sanara
Name; Hezika “Fingers” Marchant
Gender; Agender (DMAB)
Prompt;
It all started for Hezika when they were younger, and tossed out in the streets of Iridis with nothing to their name. Gotta eat to live, gotta steal to eat. Under the Red King, living as a poor child with nothing leaves you subject to the body trade, illness and much worse than death. Thankfully, a wealthy merchant by the name of Kerowynn caught them attempting to steal one of her stained glass bobbles. Lucky for Hezika, of course, who was rounded up by the caravan driver and taught how to do maths in order to pay with work for their crime.
Hezika saw things they never truly dreamed of as an orphan. Their favorite things to look at were the gems passing traders would try to sell Kero, but Hezika could never figure out how she could tell how much they were worth by simply licking the stone. One night, they tried to ask, and Kero laughed and explained that she wasn’t tasting them, but rather feeling them with her tongue, and if Hezika wanted to learn it, by golly she was going to teach them.
Thus began Hezika’s true schooling. Kerowynn taught Hezika how to read and write the tongues of Iridis, and how to ‘feel’ the cut of gems with their fingers. Kerowynn used her tongue, but it was only because of the soft flesh. Hezi’s fingers were just as soft, having worked barely at all in their short lifespan, and thus earned the affectionate nickname ‘Fingers’ from Kerowynn.
Before either of them knew it, Hezika’s punishment was well up... but neither spoke of it. They continued working together, until Kerowynn referred to Hezika as a Marchant to one of the passing traders. Hezika was shocked, but pleased to be considered part of Kero’s family, until all at once they realized Kerowynn was certainly part of their family as well...

This is Hezika’s favorite, not because of price or rarity, but because it’s the stained-glass bobble they stole. The same stained glass bobble that changed their life for the ultimate better.
