Truths
Story;
A small part of him said this wasn't a good idea. The whole point of this Truth was that you told the truth, but being honest meant breaking a promise. To lie in this situation seemed better, but Mist decided he could have some fun breaking his promise. He decided to say the secret, but he had to be secretive about how. The first thing to do, write a note on his paper. He knew he was supposed to be listening, but the teacher was really boring, one of the kind that drones on and on in such a boring, plain tone. Mist couldn't help it but to sneak in a bit of scrap paper (along with some pens and a bag of banana chips). He had to write it down, speak during the lecture and your as good as dead.
So, the truth he had to say was more of a dare, a dare to tell the truth. Some of his peers had dragged Mist into a secret game of truth or dare, knowing Mist loves to play that sort of thing. What the peers wanted to know- a secret Mist knew. Mist knew this very well, but played along with them. He had made a promise to keep everyone from beleiving his friends secret, not actually saying the secret. If he could tell them the secret in a way that made it seem like a lie, they wouldn't believe him.
The voice casually spoke to Mist.
"So... you're playing this game again? Hmm... whats on the table?"
Mist answered back, without speaking in real life, or his peers would hear.
"If i can tell them the secret as a lie they wont believe me and my promise stays. I mess up, the secret gets out, i break the promise. I could just lie in an convincing way to be safe, but weres the fun in that? Besides, this way they're more likely to beleive the actual lie."
"I see... Well, this should be fun to watch."
Mists peers were becoming impatient.
"Whats taking you so long? Comon' answer!" one of them says, rushing Mist for time.
Mist sees the opportunity as if it was given to him on a gold plate. Perfect.
"Oh.... err, so my friend hid the cookies..." Mist deliberately stalls, making it seem thar he was thinking if an excuse. "Um.... The cookies are hidden in the kitchen. ... yeah."
The peers had fallen for it. They believed what Mist wanted them to believe- that the cookies were anywhere besides the school kitchen.
"No, they cant be. You're lying!" one said, angrily. Another chirped in, "Yeah, the kitchen is one of the most guarded places in the school!".
"Tell us the truth!" They demanded.
Mist let out the typical sigh of defeat. He made sure to add lots of information. "Oh, ok. I give in, the cookies are in Sid's spare packed lunch box, its orange and hidden in the wall of the locker room. There's a small hole that you can put your paw through to grab it."
In reality, theres no such place in the locker room. Mist added at the end "By the way, its super hard to find, took me a week."
And with that, Mist had gotten away with it. The cookies were in the kitchen after all, the main reason being how guarded it is, ironic really.
The voice;
Mist has a voice in his head. It is his own voice, just a tiny bit deeper. It talks to him, he talks back. The voice has its own personality, but shares one huge thing in common with mist, being their love to causing trouble. Both like to manipulate the minds and ideas of others for their own entertainment. Besides from the mind-gaming trouble making side of Mist and the voice, the two don't always get along. Its as if two are fighting over one brain, yet the voice is too weak to ever take full control.
Mist is the only one who knows about the voice and, lije with most things, is very secretive about it. He thinks its dome sort of personality disorder and has actually asked the voice about it, but it just replied with "I don't know, coud be."
The other day the voice in his head sung this. It seemed strangely farmilliar, yet he couldn't tell why. It wasnt the tune, that seemed unique. Perhaps it was the words? Mist really didn't know and didn't care too much, yet it kept him thoughtful.
Got a secret? Or who cares?
Ill blurt it out, why did you trust me?
Did I look so innocent, you see.
In reality, im playing it dumb. Dont take it personally.
I got your secret, I made the promise.
Should I come clear?
Who am I questioning when I answer?
Who can I trip now? Who will fall to the wire of guilt?
It cuts, it cuts. It hurts.
Burning up from stomach to throat.
I have a way out, I think, I hoped.
If there anything wrong with me? Am I just another reject? You've a problem?
Light out, you cant see.
Think this is bad? I just begun. You cant see, you don't know.
Flip a coin, decide your fate.
Dare me, tell a lie. Yell the truth, ill tell them anyway.
Im playing a game that shouldn't be played.
Im saying things that have been delayed.
The truth is, the truth is- !
Go on, dont stop. That feeling, that doubt.
Ignore it, it'll be fine.
Heart beat, beating faster.
The pressure's on, come on an play.
Play the game you've been waiting to play.
Are you ready?
Im here! Im here!
You'll help me? Stay ready,
crap ready for this to go on for long.
The voice then atopped singing mid-tune and begun takling to Mist. It appears it had come to the end of its short attention span.
Talking to yourself;
This was their conversation after voice singing.
"You know, sometimes I think you ignore me."
"Most in my situation would, be glad I'm not trying to be rid of you."
"So why don't you give me a name?"
"Because you're me."
"But you just cal me 'the voice'. At least be creative."
"You're still me, and you can't deny that. But, if you want a name, what should I even call you?"
"I dunno, thats up to you, right? I am you, after all."
"Ok then, mc-voicy voice."
"Any thing but that, err, how about... Chisisi?"
"What does that even mean? Or does it have no meaning?"
"Aren't you me, so aren't you supposed to know?"
"I don't know everything you know, you know that."
"Ok, ok I was just playin' with you. Chisisi is egyptian and means 'secret'."
"Rather fitting."
"There's others, like Velius, its roman meaning 'concealed'. Then theres Yamanu, Egyptian myth name meaning 'the hidden one'."
"You're very good with name meanings, aren't you? I don't know where you get the information from..."
"What's your fave, then?"
"Out of the ones you said, it has to be Yamanu."
"Then you'll call me Yamanu, right?"
"Ok, but ill still call you 'voice' every now and again."
"Ugh, fine"
Truth or Dare;
The voice in Mist's head, Yamanu plays a huge role in Mist's life. Mist has heard the song Truth or Dare once or twice, his first impressions being that the song is almost like when Yamanu talks to him. It even links to Mist talking about his crushes, for he's had a few since teenager-hood, every single one rejecting him. He has been known to be a bit stupid, telling obvious lies. Those lies were actually mostly true, but the thing about it was he likes to play around with others minds, just like the voice in his head can do to him. In the song the meeting up with danger part means the times when he and Yamanu argue, it dangerous should Yamanu ever finds a way to take over.
