"I don't really care for her. She is just another human. Another suspect for these dreadful, salty things..."
You ask someone nearby, and find out the person the strange Kiamara is talking about is FoxerOwl.

ωнσ ι αм ιηsι∂ε...
"My name is Paju. And don't you dare call my Pah-joo, it is obviously Py-u." Paju's eyes glare at you, before they look down at his notebook. "You know, I have never thought of that. That may be the answer to these feathers."
He is confusing you, but you decide not to question it. You figure this is normal behavior for Paju. Instead, you look up the name and it seems to mean "willow" in Finnish. The white streaks on his pelt seem to remind you of a willow tree - what a fitting name.
    [click me for correct pronunciation!]

υη∂εя тнε cℓσтнιηg...
"I am male. You can tell. And, no, my sex does not contribute to the reason. I have researched it and it means nothing, whether you are male or female."
Paju's tail swishes suddenly in annoyance and his feathers smack you in the face. They feel coarse and smell salty, and they are strangely heavy, as if they originated from the sea. Strange, but you decide not to ask him about it.

мү ғαvσяιтε ρℓαcε...
"Maldives is a very beautiful and amazing place, but, truthfully, only a tourist could say that. This land is strange and, in my past experiences swimming in these waters, haunted... yes, you probably don't believe me. But listen to my story. Don't swim in the water until I find the reason. Don't."
You are confused, but decide to listen. He was interesting enough when you first met him, and "the reason" must be fairly interesting as well. But you lose some interest when you figure he might be going crazy.
Paju seems to read your mind. "Maybe I am," he answers blankly.

тнε яεαsση...
Paju walked along the beach, greeting the tourists and locals crowding the beaches of Maldives. Such a beautiful place. The water was calm and gentle, perfect to swim in. Paju loved the water, so a full day of swimming was not unusual. Already wearing his swim trunks, the young male walked over to the water and stepped into the smooth tide. He loved the feel of the sand between his toes. He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and dove into the water.

He swam till he could swim no more, then dove. He swam, his eyes squeezed shut. He didn't realize he was traveling downwards at an angle where the sharp rocks were, and so Paju's head suddenly smacked on the rocks, blood pouring from his wound. He soon passed out from the lack of blood and started to sink. His last thoughts were, "Please, sharks, don't eat me..."

Paju could sense his body being tampered with, flipped around in deep water, carried upwards but not to the top. Something tightening around his tail, wrist, and neck... something being hammered into his ear... what was happening? He was starting to wake up when a last minute clasp was heard, and he suddenly floated to the top and burst through the water.

He opened his eyes. People crowded around him. Confusion circled his mind. He started to sit up, but something made his head, arms, and tail feel heavy. He looked at his paws. Paju saw a purplish-green feather with a white tip, tied very tight around his wrist. He felt his left ear and neck and found the same type of feathers. He finally looked at his tail. All five feathers tied to him were identical. Wait. He looked at his paws again. A silver clasp bracelet was around his right wrist, with the words 'Remember Me...' engraved on it. He was confused. Someone had given him these things. But why?

Paju started to feel uneasy. The Maldives beaches and oceans were always considered safe, but now they seemed frightening and mysterious. Instinct told him not to take the feathers or bracelet off. The tourists did this. In the water. Paju became frightened of the water - he wouldn't, couldn't go back in. Was this for a reason? If so, he must know who did this. There must be a reason. "I must find this reason..."

Hello, I'm a non-owner named Groenii, nice to meet you!

Name:

Amarinth

(I chose this name because I really like it, but I found out just now that amaranth, which is what I kinda based her name of, actually means 'a purple colour' which is also the colour of the hue of her fur that I admire so much, so I think the name actually fits more than I thought)

Gender:

Female

Favorite Place to Explore and Why:

Amarinth's favourite place to explore is the labyrinth that runs through the mountains surrounding the village she lives in, and that even goes all the way underneath the mountains. Amarinth is incredibly curious by nature, and loves mystery and exploring. She discovered the labyrinth when she was still but a child, and has loved it ever since. The pathways in the labyrinth are pitch-black, and incredibly narrow. At first, Amarinth had trouble to find her way through the ink black cave, but little by little, bit by bit, she has learned to feel her way around. Her sense of touch has sharply increased and now she knows many places in the labyrinth like the back of her hand. Her favourite moment is when she finds a new place to explore. For in the elaborate system of tunnels and openings, winding and bending like snakes, there are tons of places she hasn't yet discovered, even though she is now an adult. Of course, there is always the possibility of getting lost or getting stuck due to the sometimes worrisome fragility of some of the cave walls, which could cause them collapse. Fortunately, Amarinth is not a stupid girl. Growing up in the mountains, she has known just how unrelenting the mountains can be at an early age, and she has taken great pains to study up on safety and well-being. That is why she always carries an utility belt with her that contains everything she needs to ensure that she'll be as safe as possible. So that she can continue to explore and explore to her heart's content. Though Amarinth is also interested in other caves and undiscovered places, the labyrinth in the mountains near the quaint, quiet village she calls home, will always hold a special place in her heart.

(300 words, o.o barely made the word limits for both)

1 Extra:

How she found the cave

Amarinth grew up in a small, ancient village in a remote area. Ever since she was little, Amarinth has had a big imagination and a huge interest in secrets and mystery's. She was, and is, incredibly curious, and never ceases to want to know more. To accomplish this goal, she went on many exploration journey's through the harsh, unrelenting mountain landscape she knew so well. On one of those occasions, she got lost and accidentally stumbled on a small crevice in a rock wall, hidden in a ravine that could only be reached safely by a steep path. Being as small as she was, Amarinth could easily slip through the narrow opening, and given her curious nature, did not hesitate to do so for even a second. Following the path, Amarinth saw the small slice of sky that was still visible shrink and shrink until not a shred of daylight could reach her. With growing astonishment Amarinth slowly started to realize she was entering what seemed to be a cave. The path went down very steep, and was very narrow and shallow. Add to that the pitch-black darkness blinded her and the cave seemed like a mouth, ready to devour all those who dared to enter. She had to rely on her sense of touch all the way. After what seemed like an eternity, when turning round a corner, Amarinth was suddenly blinded by bright light. When her eyes had adjusted, her jaw dropped in awe. What lay before her was not just a plain cave, but a kind of hallway, filled with opportunities, filled with mystery. She was now in this huge chamber, illuminated by light through cracks in the ceiling. Paths and cracks in the walls led to unknown destinations. At hearing the sound of the air pressing through the cracks in the ceiling, Amarinth started to tremble and shiver. But she did not do that out of fear. No, Amarinth was certainly not afraid. She was simply unable to contain her excitement at having found this place, that was unknown by everyone else. After this discovery, Amarinth changed. Though she never talked about her secret, others did notice a change in her demeanour. She was never bored again, because no matter how often she went there, there was always something new to discover through the endless amount of openings in the labyrinth.

This Kiamara isn't as warm and friendly as she looks.
Kaydence is quite different than the average Kiamara, she doesn't spend her time slavering over males, or out shopping with friends. Kaydence spends most of her time, especially during dark, in her favorite place, the graveyard. Though most dare not step foot in this haunting territory, Kaydence seems to feel completely at peace surround by the dead. Oftentimes, she can be heard talking to the deceased, or be glimpsed leaving roses among their headstones. One may also catch her singing songs to the passed on, almost as if pretending to be putting them to bed, as you would sing lullabies to young children. She has told many that the graveyard is her favorite place, reasoning that the dead can't bully you into a dark pit, as the real world can, "Their voices are silent, but their respect for me is noticeable." Kaydence is often found near a grave marked with the name December on it, and most believe she once knew this young man all too well, being a suspect to his killing. Along with this made up story, many believe Kaydence spends her time in the graveyard to repent of her sins for this crime, but Kaydence doesn't show any sign of violence in her eyes, or so it seems...

Diego

Postby Curious » Thu Sep 25, 2014 11:53 pm

Name: Diego
Gender: Male
Favorite Place to Explore and Why: Diego can often be seen using his signature binoculars to watch animals in the Australian habitat. In fact, he's stayed there for such long periods of time, he's gotten into the habit of using the Australian accent. He loves all the beautiful forests and the fresh air, and feels trapped in large cities or small places. Some could say he has a mild case of claustrophobia.
Story: I peer through my binoculars, my elbows rested on the trunk of a log and my tongue between my teeth. With the blazing sunlight baking my fur, and the grass crushed beneath my paws, I could see it. One of my favorite animals--the kangaroo. I watch it hop around, sniff at the air, tend to the joey in it's stomach pouch. I never get bored of watching animals, especially ones from where I am now--Australia.
I sit there for at least a few hours, unaware of the sun creeping down the sky. As the mother kangaroo went to sleep, I sigh and pack my things.
"Binoculars...check. Water bottle...check. Flashlight...check," I mumbl to myself, tucking the objects in my bag as I name them aloud. I sling my bag over my shoulder as I finish and stand up, groaning as I did so due to sore joints. I definitely need to remember to stretch every once and a while, I think regretfully, starting to walk down the side of the river.
Dust clouds around my heels as I trek across the grassy landscape, and I realize it was getting pretty hard to see since it is becoming so dark. I pull my flashlight from my bag and click it on, holding it in my mouth to light the way.
Suddenly, I feel a sharp pain in my left hind leg. "Gah!" I say, dropping the flashlight and turning to see a huge spider skittering away. My leg is shining slightly with a couple bead of blood where the creature had bit me. I cringe and sit down. I had heard of those types of spiders. They are deadly, if they bite you. I sigh, glancing around and hoping to spot the lights of a town.
I'm in the middle of nowhere. The thought dawns on me--I probably won't survive if I don't get treatment for the wound, and quick. I scramble to my paws and try running, but the stabbing pain in my leg and the alarmingly fast beat of my heart tell me I have to slow down.
I walk.
And walk.
And walk.
Finally, I stumble on my knees, unable to go any further. An aching pain courses up my backside with every heartbeat. Well... I think, at least I'll die doing what I love. I chuckle grimly and lay down, accepting whatever may come with the sunrise.

I adore the desert and its wildlife, of course. Everyone has that link to the place they came from, or places resembling it. I think it's just a natural emotion. We are drawn to where we call home. However, in terms of places to explore, I love anywhere but. The concept of snow is so intriguing. Half frozen water? Fluffy half frozen water? Ice caves and water so cold it could freeze the very blood pumping through your veins. That is the meaning of adventure! It's dangerous and thrilling and new! No one wants the same setting when you travel. That's why we do it. Not to mention, wildlife in snowy areas tends to be the most incredible. These animals can survive in conditions which could kill rather quickly. I'll never understand how a penguin can wander around with no warm, thick fur on its body without turning into a birdcicle.

Since I enjoy the unusual, I also often go for rainy areas. Mainly just because it feels refreshing, like a cool shower, whereas everything back home is hot! I can't catch a break! There's nothing better than breaking up the sweltering heat with bursts of cool droplets to soak my fur. It keeps my body at a bearable temperature for longer and I don't have to keep stopping in my adventures to cool off in the shade. I can see more of the sights and observe more wacky creatures.

I especially like insects. There's nothing stranger than insects. For example, has anyone ever heard of a peacock spider? They're the most incredible little things with the most vibrant colours you'll ever see! They even do this little dance and wave their legs around!

These are the reasons I love adventure!

Image

Day three on my Amazon adventure. The pads of my paws ached with each step, despite the softness of the earth and grass. Humidity thick and hot, leaving a sheen of dewy sweat to stick to my too-long fur and my every breath to feel suffocating and unsatisfying. Though I yearned for water, the risk of running into predators on the river bed in such a wild part of the rain forest as this kept me side-stepping deeper into the undergrowth.

This almost seemed a regretful choice of holiday locations. And never had I regretted a decision for adventure before in my life, but dodging poisonous insects and warding of small vicious animals for two days had began to take its toll. I was hungry, and I was thirsty. Perhaps it was time to head back?

As I stood, trapped in conflicting thought, something latched onto my tail with two chubby hands, nuzzling into the thick fur there. I flinched and turned in time to see a young human girl rush towards the small boy, grabbing him away and staring me down with narrowed eyes and a predatory stance much like that of the other animals here. But this was a human. A human cultured differently to any I had seen before. And where healthy humans nest, there will be safe food and a water supply away from danger. Sensing opportunity in these two young human pups, I lowered myself to lie in the grass, tilting my head and pricking my ears up. Anyone raised in these parts would surely know to read an animal's body language.

The female slowly approached, one hand outstretched, and I watched cautiously for any change in her demeanor. Her fingers fiddled with strands of my fur, stroking my cheek and eventually, her mouth pulled into a smile. I was no longer a threat to her. She held up one finger, telling me to wait, and ran to retrieve a basket full of meat and furs and some vines. Using the vines, she tied the basket to my back and gestured for me to follow.

I spent the next month helping my new human friend to transport goods in and out of camp, set traps and hunt. And in exchange for my labor, I was granted food, drink, shelter and a place by the fire.

    That day, I learned trust.
