The now named Kojo clan was quickly claiming numbers as more and more members joined the once trio equating to a family of seven. Nagke with his adopted sister Gazani and adopted brother Amon entered shortly after the temporary combined efforts of anemone and his family. Thanks to Lana, Ro was saved from the river and couldn’t help but join her savior.
Now this bunch of cats would wait out of the storm together and continue parallel to the once peaceful lake and gain some ground. For a spilt second ease waved over the family as they witnessed a horrific event and surely this would be the only one, right?
Wrong! As Ajwa is at the front of the battlefield, he experiences at first hand the damages that water could do. Boulders crumble under the weight of swishing liquid seeping into each crack, people-made items rust and loose structure, and the vegetation that once laid a blanket of green across the canyon was brown muddy and pushed over exposing roots and death. The sight wasn’t the only depressing nature this monsoon created as the sound was erie in itself. Folding back his ears he pinned the sharp pin-prick waves of crumbling stone and thunderous vibrations along the floor.
“Family, we need to continue this celebration at a later time, as Ro witnessed, we are all still in danger even with the rainfall settling. Hurry, and keep up the pace. Tana, please help Ro to sustain her weight and don’t let anyone fall behind.” The stern booming voice echoed within the muddy center of what each one of their paws laid upon. Agreeing with his intentions the whole group hurried there pace.
However, this wouldn’t last for long as the group was exhausted even with rest. As a few hours go by Ajwa is forced to allow the clan to regain as much strength as they could before starting up the journey back to the entrance of where the celebration had begun.
Amongst the rubble Santol hanging behind Ajwa’s heels noticed a building iron in material cracked open into a cave structure. The mismatched stonework was holding its own weight in an artwork like appearance. In a way, it was a beautiful sight but more imporntantly the bounty of this find would give shelter to them all. Following, instead of leading Ajwa watched Santol inspect the new found temporary home and the family shook off the wet soaked and achy pains they all achieved.
Ajwa now having a moment to himself internalized a monologue of disappointment, not by the teamwork of his clan but of the disaster they all witnessed. How could this have happened? It was as if the universe wanted a reenactment of the lesser stories told by the cliff and city cats. Why this was much more than what I could handle and without them, I don’t know how strong I could have been. Was it right of me as a leader to take these risks?

Thankfully, the warmth of the entire knit-pack huddled together cured the moist fur and eased the tension each one was fighting against. As the winds whispered in the distance and the sun finally showed its glow upon the world once more. Awoken with yawns and gasps of fresh air filled the lungs of many and increased the moral upon the camp.
As duty of a leader, Ajwa was the first to awake and stand upon the now dried dust of crumbled debris. It was his job to keep the encouragement flowing just as the weather prevailed. ”Sorry to awaken you all from slumber, but finally the weather has shown itself in a better light. If all are able, we should head back toward the starting ground of this celebration. Any objections?”
All cats eyed each other looking for any sort of misunderstanding or longing to keep in this hostile environment. Of course, nobody wanted to stay and with Ajwa up at front the group lined up and followed the original path back towards the cliff-side.
The previous markers however were no longer looking anything like they did only a few days ago. Once trees that stood tall were toppled over, rocks were restocked oddly, and grass was not even on the radar. It proved to be a difficult task to find any way back. Even the scent of others making their trip home was lost with the water ways.
Stumped Ajwa shook his head and forced his nose to take in as much as it could as they eyes were faulty.
”Could I be of any use?” Shouted a light tendered and shy voice. A figure still hidden in the shadows of turmoil looked upon the new arrivals with curiosity and a heartfelt of help, ”I know the way back to camp, if that is where you’re heading?” The cat reassured the shaken journeymen.
”Yes, please we could use the guidance of a cliff-side cat. Lead and we will follow.” Still a little worried about asking for help and having so many more clan mates to worry about. He didn’t want to make any mistakes and with the risk of what happened earlier within the week this only weakened. Regardless, following this cat would prove to be at better odds than Ajwa smelling around and praying his scent could be fetched off any landscape. What choice did he have?
It was evident that this cat would indeed lead them back to safety and the trust of another was a precious memory and memoir for the whole adventure. It was only with this that even the feathers they carried (fewer than before) was even obtained and the story of the past would become a reality again.
The rest of the feathers the family gathered was laid at the paws of who sent them back home. Honestly, nobody would have had it any other way as the story was about teamwork and this is what they accomplished.
