when was a time they experienced unrequited love?
In my world there exist two that exist alongside but destined to be apart─ those of the land and those of the ocean. There exist no special difference between the two. Simply, the ocean kalon reside in the ocean, no special power grants them this. Long ago a blessing and a curse fell upon the kalon, and as a result, the blessed could seek refuge within the ocean god's territory, the cursed couldn't. Within me runs the blood of both, my father of the ocean and mother of the land. My father loved us but, I couldn't answer why, he eventually returned to his home─ the ocean. Half of my blood being of the blessed, deep within I had always felt my instincts draw me towards home, to a blessed, the ocean. Yet, destiny would see otherwise. Never once could I step foot into the deeper ocean where my people were, where my father was. The ocean would reject me with each attempt. My mother couldn't give me an answer why; she didn't try to lie either. She could only handle so much, though, and quickly her grief caught up with her taking her from me early. I promised not to go near the ocean since. After all, I was my mother's downfall.
Obsessed with what he cannot have, alone kalon wastes his life away. Oceanic blue eyes aloof, a despair and desperation held within, the deep gaze carries so much. Alone he lays, the imperceptible scar he carries as though an old wound in the rain, constantly stinging his heart so full of yearning. When this lone kalon was but a kit this pull first hit him, an unknowing despair awaiting him. Towards his father, where his blood called him, he ran to the ocean only to be met with rejection. Though split between two, the water kalon blood rejected him against his instincts will. Once so clear and pure eyes widened, pain and despair hitting him. As though betrayed, stabbed by his own kin, his face contorted as he began to yell at anybody that would listen Standing in the water, a pure life thrown to the rapids. Standing on shore a pained mother, she could find no words of comfort nor any answers for her son. The sight of him in such a state left only guilt, pain, and sorrow. With no words, the mother sauntered over, pulling the kit into her arms before dragging him from the water. Her heart could handle no longer to watch her son in such a state. As though pulled from a lifeline, though, the kit struggled on, reaching out to the ocean one last time.
Never has he stepped foot on the beach again. From afar, he simply yearningly gazed out towards his unrequited love.
