Animal fact;; horseshoe crabs are actually very important in the medical field because of their baby blue blood. thousands of them are harvested at a time, brought into a lab, bled, and released in a different location to help prevent rebleeding. their blood contains special properties that will instantaneously clot whenever there is the presence of bacteria. after harvested, the expensive substance is used to test bacteria presence in drugs and medical equipment. so, nearly everyone who has ever had an injection should have a small degree of graditude towards these little dudes for assuring cleanliness.

Animal fact;; In an ostrich flock the 'queen' gets to choose where she nests and the male will dig it for her. Laying up to 12 eggs the other females in the flock will lay theirs in her nest as well, but here's the catch- The queen will roll all of HER eggs to the middle leaving the others to the edge as a distraction. If a predator comes too close she'll roll away another female's egg to keep her own safe. In the end everyone wins because the queen raises all remaining chicks.
