Morty takes it upon themself to be an impromptu burial "priest" in the wilderness where they live. After initial burial, Morty marks the grave with two flowers (a daffodil and tulip) and comes back at later dates to keep adding on to the miniature garden around the knoll.

They've gone through this process many times, meaning there exist multiple small gardens within the territory of the forest. By burying the animals and planting around the remains, Morty is making sure that everything goes back to nature. Morticia tries to give back to the Earth whenever possible and remain respectful.
