"Come one, come all!", shouted a young merchant with a cart full of exotic trinkets and strange objects. She was quite energetic, running all around trying to grab the attention of anyone who might buy something from her. He wasn't exactly interested in buying anything she had to sell but why not give the kid a dollar or two and get a little figuren in return.
He began walking across the street with a small group to avoid any incoming carriages. The cobblestone was rough to walk against but everyone in these parts were very much used to it. Not her though, once he got closer she was clearly in pain from the rocky floor. He couldn't help but feel pity for this young lady who most likely could not buy her own shoes.
"Excuse me, miss! I'd like to purchase one of those small figures you have!", he called out to her getting a bit of cash out of his travel sack. She completely lit up as he said that. With a spring she was on her feet again running over to assist him. He couldn't help to smile at the girl, he reached his hand out to greet her. She didn't exactly understand that and lightly dragged him over to her cart where she helped him pick out a figure. He ended up with a piece of wood carved into a horse. She gave a smile and he handed over the cash. She gladly took it and he was on his way.

With the memory of this small girl in heart he went on with his life not really sure of what he wanted to do. He returned to the small home he had bought in the middle of no where. He opened the door and threw his things to the ground immediately falling over onto a cushion. He laid there for a long moment just... thinking. The one time he wanted to spend thinking, his mind was completely blank.
It felt like hours but in reality he had been sitting there for minutes. His parents would always tell him not to everything, especially his father, but how can someone not when it's all you can do. He laid there running through out his mind, searching for ideas, for a purpose, until he inevitably fell asleep.
He awoke wearily, unsure of if the day in town had actually happened or if it was just a dream. He lifted his paw back up and laid it on top of him. He opened what was clenched into a fist and out dropped the figure. The horse figure. That's it! It was real and he finally knew something. He wanted to help someone needing it. He also knew he loved horses. Why not combine the two?
---------
Putting a long story short he had began training to care and tame horses and, after moving to a large town with more accessible medical care for the animals, took in a few to provide a better home for. Though the small merchant most likely did not remember him, he'd never forget her.
Like most, he imagined he'd never see her again but unlike most he got to. It happened during a time the leaders of the neighboring kingdoms were meeting together, a time where the place they met at would be very much crowded for the small bit they were there. Basically a time where someone attempting to sell trinkets would most likely be found, in a large crowd of potential buyers.
It was a tad annoying having to travel through the crowded streets but he kept his head up hoping to maybe, just maybe, run into her. By now she was most likely an adult so of course she may look different and may have even changed occupation or worse but he had hope he'd see her so he could thank her.
Now the story could end here with him never seeing her but it took a more dramatic turn during the first date of publicly announced meetings. On this day the rulers would announce themselves and their families if they wished. This was the most popular day, besides the ending date of course, and left the town square filled to the rim with kalons. Being a citizen who lived around there he was easily able to squeeze in to see the event.
The first to announce herself was Moon of course, this was her kingdom after all, followed by the Ibalendiens, the desert dwellers ruled by Nevra, Rania, and their children, and then the Miratlanians, also known as the mole people. The first to speak was Eva, the queen, and then her mothers, Rossa and Roxanne, the previous Queens who stepped down and crowned her ruler, and then the most unexpected one, her. The second daughter of the Miratlan kingdom was that lowly merchant.
To say the least he was shook out of his seat after learning who she actually was. Knowing this, most would feel they'd never get a chance to talk to her but he was unreasonably hopeful he would get a chance. Believe it or not he was able to find her. He quickly thanked her for how she helped him and unlike what he was expecting, she did remember him. They became quick friends and they stay close to this day.
