Pippin has always been the giant of his hometown. With legs
stretching father than most, and shoulders broader than his own
father's, he was a kalon that most looked up to; literally.
However, much to everyone's surprise, as Pippin grew larger and
larger, so too did his heart. His personality was as fluffy and soft
as his blush fur, and his eyes sparkled with life and love that only
few kalons would ever know. And so he became the 'gentle giant'.

However, being a gentle giant comes with its own hardships and
responsibilities. Many outsiders who came to his town did not know
of his gentle temperament. Glances and glares would burn against
Pippin's frame, and he could feel each and every one. His heart
would sink a little from the weight of the judging eyes, but he
would simply flash his kindest smile, hoping to reassure the
strangers that he meant no harm. But as radiant and genuine
as his smile was, most kalons saw right past it.

For many days and nights, Pippin pondered how he was to win
over the hearts of his fellow kalons. Sure, he had his family and
friends, but he knew that the world stretched far beyond his little
hometown, and it was a world he was determined to see. His
biggestfear, however, was that the world would refuse to see
him.

One night,Pippin took to the local park, bringing with him
a fresh loaf of bread with which to feed the ducks. As he
fed them, he took notice of a couple of kalonsfurther down
the path. One of the kalons was bent on one knee, offering
a bouquet of roses to his beloved. Pippin watched
with a smile as the lovebirds embraced each other, and he
felt his heart grow warm. Even further down the path,
the park faded into a cemetery. Pippin spotted an
elderly kalon placing a single lily onto a grave. The kalon
bore a smile, yet a loose tear had escaped her lashes to slide
down her cheek. Pippin watched with a somber heart, almost
as if he could feel the pain that she felt.

How could it be, Pippin thought, that we can be so alike yet so
different? How can I feel what they feel, yet they treat me
like a monster?

And it was then that Pippin realized what he had to do.

With the passing of just a few months, Pippin's life had changed
entirely. When he woke each morning, he would make his way
to his new job. Kalons, even strangers, would smile at him,
and he would flash his signature smile in return. Some even
waved, and he was happy to wave back. Once he had reached
his workplace, Pippin would unlock the doors and enter,
only to be met with the scent of a thousand different flowers.

Pippin had opened up his very own flower shop, filled with
daisies and roses and tulips and more! Each flower was
trimmed and picked with care, as Pippin knew that each
one would play a vital role in some kalon's life. Whether the
petals were made for love or celebration, for forgiveness or
for remembrance, Pippin knew that they would some day
carry the emotions that he felt so strongly- and that he
knew everyone else felt as well. With flowers, his town
was one, and with nature, his world was an open door-
a flower waiting to be picked!
