"Hmm....? Oh. You want to know how I met 'Heit?" Munin leans back slowly in his seat and crosses his arms in front of him as if fighting off the chill of the early morning coffee shop, his head tilting back so that his dark eyes could peer up at the ceiling. "So I'm sitting at the bar over there-" he pauses and reaches out to motion over to the counter where a young barista is taking inventory of the coffee selection, trying to figure out if the shop was going to run out of foam before the morning rush arrives, "and when I look to my left, I see this....this big fluff ball in an oversized sweater. It had literally swallowed his hands whole and wouldn't show them, but that wasn't what I was so interested in."
Suddenly another young worker arrives at the table and hands Munin a coffee, rich cream in color as it was mixed with a vanilla creamer and two tablespoons of sugar. He reaches out and takes it off of the surface, drawing it up to his lips so that he can have his first sip. Munin doesn't speak again until the waiter leaves, eyes flickering away from you to follow his path. "He's got tear tracks running down his face, and fresh tears to go with them. Since I've never met someone with a curse before, I thought he was a kid down on his luck or someone in his life had passed. Being the nice guy that I am-" a grin, and he takes a sip of his coffee before cringing with regret from the burn that his tongue garnered, "I try to start up a conversation with him. He's quiet of course, soft-spoken, but he isn't overly passive in the conversation. And the longer we talk, the more I begin to understand that this kid isn't sad at all! He's crying without any reason, as far as I can see, and the tears are still flowing steadily. So I get around to asking him about it and he gets flustered like it's something to be embarrassed about - I guess he was hoping I wouldn't notice, but I'm not a mind reader so I don't know - but he starts explaining this whole story about a witch and a raven. I can't really tell it since it isn't my business though I can promise it was completely interesting. Like something out of a fairytale. Curse and all he was fun to talk with, so I decided to keep in touch."
Kieran Michelle:
He sets his mug down on the table and away from where his arms could swat it to the side and cause a scene by knocking it over, his tail curling around the leg of the chair. "Kieran too? Really? You're quite a curious one aren't you?" Munin asks seriously with a twitch of his sweet rounded ears, his head cocking to the side. "Well, if you insist on knowing about how we met as well, I suppose there isn't any harm in telling you. Heit and I don't really find the nightlife - you know, going to clubs and drinking, all of that - the type of life that we want to live. We prefer our place here at the coffee house. But about the fourth or fifth time I had come to drink with Heit, he told me that he had someone he wanted me to meet," he pauses again and glances at his cup of coffee to check it, as if looking at the liquid would allow him to see what temperature it was and if it was safe for him to start drinking again. A couple of moments pass in silence as he thinks about whether or not he should try to drink the warmth, then he decides against it due to the thought of not enough time passing for it to be cool, "And who was I to tell him no? I had nothing better to do in the first place. So once we finish our coffee we go over to Heit's house, which isn't out of the ordinary since I'd been there a time or two before, and we read. I know it sounds weird since it's just two guys sitting in almost complete silence but we enjoy it and for some reason it isn't uncomfortable."
A handsome laugh spills from his lips that is both heartwarming and attractive, and a few heads turn to see who had let out such a pleasant noise. He takes no notice of them or if he does he doesn't give a sign of it.
"By the time night rolls around I'm ridiculously curious. I can hardly focus on the words on my book's pages. Heit doesn't tell me anything, instead making his strange little gesture that means he wants me to follow him somewhere, and soon we're out the door. The next thing I know we're in a bar and there's music blaring loud enough that I can't hear myself think. But he still won't explain why we're there, and soon he's got me by my hand. Heit tugs me right up to the counter and what do I see? This new Kiamara that's so pale he's glowing," Munin finally stops and picks up his coffee, bringing the cup to his lips and taking a slow drink of it. You hold onto his words though they were not the most descriptive, and you are leaning forwards in your seat without even realizing it. As you wait for him to continue, you notice a sudden fluster about his body language; it's almost like Munin is blushing beneath his dark fur. Who was this pale Kiamara and why had mentioning him brought such a reaction?
"The bartender was Kieran of course, pale enough that he's almost blinding in the dark lights of the place. I can't really hear a word he was saying, so we started writing messages to each other in between him serving people drinks. It was a weird way to meet, but I liked talking to him like that. Only after the bar closed down did I actually get to hear his voice and...w-well...let's talk about something else."
Boris
The sudden pleased and embarrassed atmosphere around the dark furred Kiamara faded away, his ears turning around and pressing against his head unhappily. "Boris Cheshire, hm? I wonder how on earth you found out about him...he's very open in his existence but how you connected him to me is a mystery," Munin informs you as he leans back so that he is no longer hunching forward and closer to you, holding his cup with both hands. "How do I even begin talking about how we met? It's hard to describe, but to start off it had nothing to do with Kieran or Heit," his sudden insistence made it sound as though associating with Brois was something along the lines of a crime and you couldn't even begin to fathom why. "I was moving along the street and minding my own business when I see this bright pink...thing slamming right into my face. I'm not sure if it was a feather or not, but it was large and brighter than Kieran in the bar so you can imagine how that thing hurt the eyes, right? Anyways, I catch this furry thing and I'm sure that it's alive but when I get my hands on it there isn't any movement - no inhaling, exhaling, the works. It didn't do any of that, and so I started looking it over," he pauses so that you can once again be kept on the edge of suspense, wondering what on earth the bright thing was and how it was related to Boris. Sensing your eager attitude to his story, Munin grins at you.
"It was a big boa-like feather, but not just any type of feather. That was a Ki-"
"A Kiamara feather. I understand that, what about Boris?" You interrupt.
Munin stops entirely and stares at you for several seconds, long enough that you start to feel uncomfortable and regret your sudden spur-of-the-moment guess. Then his nose scrunches up and a look of utter displeasure breaks out across his features, his tail lashing to the side sharply in the same manner as an annoyed feline. "If you want to get to the chase so quickly, I won't go into detail. The feather was Boris', he ran all the way up and into me then whined loudly like the brat that he is until I gave it back to him. Happy now? You got your information."
The Skull?:
You suddenly understand that you've offended Munin by interrupting him during his story telling and make a mental note that you shouldn't do it again. It would be best if you tread lightly and find a lighter topic so that you can recover from your mistake. Your eyes flicker down to the Kiamara's tail, drinking in the dark blue of his feathers and noticing the skull that decorated alongside them. The item seemed out of place and random, causing your head to tilt curiously before you glance at your phone to check the time. You'd paid for an interview and you were going to get the last few minutes' worth. It seems that Munin knew this as well, since he had yet to make any moves to stand up and leave. "That skull on your tail...how did you get it?"
Munin once again feels a wave of embarrassment from the question, his gaze turning to the side so that he can look at his accessory. Lifting his tail so that it is in direct view for both of you, the feathers and skull swish from side to side slowly. "It....it was a gift from Kieran actually," he begins softly as one paw reaches out and touches the canine skull gently, feeling it like he had never seen it before, "to celebrate our six month anniversary of knowing each other....Really I think he didn't like that I don't have something on my tail. He's been trying to get Heit to wear something on his tail lately," Munin adds softly, then glances at his own phone. He begins collecting his coffee and standing up, preparing to leave. "Our time is over."
