Ivvy's sarcasm colors her speech and makes it
enjoyable and entertaining to listen to. Ivvy uses

Hat
- Ivvy typically only wears hats when the weather is less than 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and when she does, it's a pretty green-and-tan-spotted beanie with colors that match her feathers. She will subconsciously play with the puffball on top when she's not wearing it, as she keeps it next to her beanbag, her favorite hangout.
Scarf
- Unlike her hat, Ivvy will wear her scarf in any kind of weather. It's pretty much her signature fashion accessory and she wears it any time she's out of the house. She doesn't really remember wear she got it, probably at the beach sometime, but she's had it and used it for several years.
Headphones
- Ivvy listens to so much music so often that it only makes sense for her to keep a pair of headphones with her. While they can be used wirelessly she usually has them connected to some sort of mP3 player. She had them custom-made and they even has a cute graphic of one of her favorite animals, the cat, on the earpieces.
Hair tie
- Ivvy's hair tie was woven and dyed by her friend Poppy as a special gift. For months beforehand she had been looking for something to tie her hair with when she needed it out of her face and Poppy decided to make a personal one for her. While Ivvy doesn't always wear her hair tie, when she does it's usually in a braid on her right side.
Silver bracelets
- Ivvy often wears two identical tarnished silver bracelets on her front left leg. She finds them to be very pretty and will wear them for any semi-formal occasion. While they are fairly plain as they aren't etched, Ivvy likes to look at them and search for small patterns in the tarnish.
Music
- Ivvy is driven heavily by music and listens to music almost constantly. She also composes quite a bit, sometimes even multiple pieces a day if she's feeling her flow enough. While she doesn't have a particular favorite style she likes techno and jazz in particular. She also plays tenor saxophone quite well and plays in a number of jazz bands.
Improv
- Ivvy can improv with anything — music, storytelling, and drama are only a few of the subjects she likes to improvise with. It's rather easy for her to do as instead of feeling trapped by prewritten notes or scripts she can do what she would want to do. She can go wild with this and sometimes channels this kind of creative energy into creating an original composition, play, or narrative.
Social media
- While Ivvy has many real-world friends, she can't help but reach out to people who don't live near her and make friends with them as well. Many of her friends she only knows from the Internet, through Twitter, Instagram, or other social media. She also likes sharing with her offline friends as well in new ways through these sites as well. The only social media that she knows she doesn't use is Facebook, because of a grudge that she can't explain.
Role-playing games
- Sometimes after Ivvy finishes reading a book or another piece of writing, she doesn't want it to be over or wants to be a part of the world herself. That's when she turns to role-playing games. Whether they're online on sites such as CS or over email, or real-world in games she's made herself or in bought games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Ivvy loves them. She normally plays a game with only one or two other people, with her favorite partner being Poppyseed as she has a similar creative flow and passion for story-making.
- Ivvy first met Poppyseed Ocotillo as a babysitting client when she was thirteen and Poppy, seven. At first, their relationship was very awkward as Poppy was one of Ivvy's first jobs and she didn't quite know what to do, but as Poppy's mother called Ivvy more and more, and Ivvy grew more and more experienced, their relationship grew. The two girls began to bond a few months after they first met.
Now that both plumerians are adults, it's a lot more than just the kid-and-kidsitter relationship they had at the start. The two girls are very close friends and know each other very well. Both help each other reach their goals — especially Poppy's goals in her pursuit of botany. Even though others might not have time for them, they always tried to make room for the other.
Poppy and Ivvy aren't a perfect match, either — Poppy is quiet, introverted, and focused while Ivvy is glad to make a splash and doesn't have a particularly clear future in her mind. Ivvy doesn't understand plants or nature in general as well as Poppy does and although she appreciates her friend's work, she doesn't get the vibe Poppy seems to get. On the other hand, while Poppy likes music and books, it's not nearly the way Ivvy can click with them. Just because Ivvy knows a plant geek doesn't mean that she is a plant geek, and Poppy isn't a composer in any sense of the world.
Poppy has really helped Ivvy shine, though — her soft demeanor has definitely helped Ivvy become lower-key and while Poppy certainly isn't shy, Ivvy has definitely opened her up a little more. Both girls have respect for the other's ways, and have learned from it.
- What's your opinion on crime?
- That's a good question. I feel odd saying anything other than the fact that all crime is wrong, period, but then again I can imagine a few situations where minor crimes could be okay. Not kidnapping or murdering or anything — that's all pretty bad. I mean like how tagging is okay for me if it's actually art and not just swears or gang symbols or gang symbols with swears. I don't really care that it's on someone else's property because it's self-expression and if that's the only way they can express themselves then they should go for it. If the person who owns the property takes offense that's kind of rude to the artist and it's their problem that they don't understand the art. I think minor robbery is okay too, but only if it's something necessary like a grocery store for food and the only soup kitchen is either too far away or defunct, which it shouldn't be, but you never know these days.
- I'm agnostic and I don't follow any particular religion, but I believe in a lot of the messages that are at the heart of things in religion: being kind and respectful to others, supporting those who need it, and that kind of thing. I tend to dislike people who interpret it such that their way is the only right way or whatever — I think everyone should be allowed to choose what religion, culture, or the like they want to be.
If you were given a free plane ticket to somewhere in Europe, how would you react and what would you do with it?
- I would probably freak out at first. I don't normally get a chance to get out of California, where I live, and it would be a great experience. I would also first verify that the ticket was real — I don't want to get picked up by security after all. Then... I don't know. I'd want to go myself, but I know how great of an experience many of my friends would have as well, especially Poppy. I'd probably give it to a friend in the end, even if I wanted to use it myself. But then again... who knows?
What's your favorite time of day?
- I like dusk, when I'm the most awake. I like watching sunsets and going to evening parties and the like. I find that I feel best then, because all the stress of the day is over and I'm not really tired yet. I don't tend to stay up too late, though. Past ten I start to fall asleep — much as I'd like to be, I'm no night owl.
What would you do if you found a bird with a broken wing?
- I'd be really scared at first. I'd have know idea what to do — should I leave it alone, call someone, try to take care of it myself? I'd probably first take it home, then call the vet or one of my animal friends or Poppy or something. I couldn't take care of it myself, that's for sure.
