Rotem, a Hebrew name that is derived from the name of a desert plant.

Gender:
Male. Despite his slightly feminine appearance, Rotem is defiantly a male.

Why he has a feather around his mouth:
Rotem has had social anxiety disorder since he was a pup. One of the results of his disorder is an intense fear of speaking, and not just public speaking. Speaking to any kia that he doesn't know well sends him into a panic attack. In order to stop other kias from attempting to speak to him, he tied one of his feathers around his mouth in an attempt to appear as if he couldn't speak.

History:
Rotem grew up as an only child, with an overprotective mother and father. He never really got to experience the outside world much as his parents were afraid of their little baby getting hurt. When his parents finally allowed him to see another kia, he panicked and ran back to the burrow where he had been raised. This only increased his parent's overprotective nature, causing them to try to isolate him so he wouldn't be able to see another kia again. When Rotem became an adult, he finally was able to leave his parent's burrow and actually enter the world. He lived for several months not speaking to any other kia, for he always believed that they were judging him and that they would hate him. After several panic attacks, he decided to take one of the feathers from his tail and tie it around his mouth to chase other kias away from talking to him.

Personality:
Rotem is usually a pretty energetic kia, running around and refusing to sit still. The only time he acts shy is when he's around other kias or when he is in a place he doesn't know much about. As already stated, he has social anxiety disorder, stopping him from speaking to any kia he doesn't know - which ends up being everyone who isn't willing to slowly befriend him. This causes many other kias to believe that Rotem is antisocial or hates them, when in reality he's just to anxious to speak to them. Rotem's anxiety revolves around the belief that others are judging him, and how the other kias perceive his personality adds greatly to that. Since Rotem doesn't go out often, he has become very creative with what he does. He dislikes going to gather new things to do, so he improvises from what he already has to keep himself occupied.
