Argument:

    Glur'toc iip!

    Warmest greetings Council of Eyr'th,

I will attempt to articulate this notice in the common language of your planet but it is a confusing dialect and not all words have direct til'nea.

I am sending this because over the past several solar rotations we have sensed a weakening in the lii'trac that binds our planetary system, specifically the tether for our small planet Pluu'tah. After much careful studying and research, we have traced this concerning qui'drall to your planet and were shocked to learn that your so-called scientists are proposing that Pluu'tah is not actually a planet..

I am not sure why you would be considering changing our status in the saal'ri system.. I refuse to believe that this is an act of war, while you often quarrel amongst yourselves over the land of your own planet you always seemed to be a peaceful race as far as the rest of us go; though if we did anything to offend you, please tell us how we can rectify it.

Is it because we are considered the 'junk planet' of the system? For not having as clean an orbit as the rest of the planets? I assure you, it's an important part of our ecosystem. We take in and protect the smaller strays and rejects. In return, they provide protection from raiders and meteors and such. Some of them even provide valuable materials, essential to our way of life.

Therefore, I can only conclude that you are unaware of what drastic consequences such an act on your part would cause. Perhaps you simply don't realize how the binding of this system works.. allow me to explain.

This system is held together by an invisible force, the lii'trac. I believe your planet refers to a belief of.. grav'tos? While this force also exists, it's not the only force at work. In fact, grav'tos is responsible for very little. It merely regulates the path of motion for all objects in this system. The lii'trac is a deeper bond between all that resides in each system, common beliefs and inerrant truths. What each member calls such things is irrelevant, it's the shared beliefs that create and maintain the lii'trac, a binding force that holds everything in place.

If your planet was to alter our designation, the lii'trac to us would be significantly weakened. If any of the other members were to follow suit, we would be exiled entirely. Sent adrift through space. Without the grav'tos of the system, much of our way of life would be destroyed.

It is common in the universe that a drifting planet, who's origin system has not been obliterated, is considered rejected. Banished. Exiled. We will not be accepted by any other system, doomed to drift endlessly in the vast emptiness of space.

I implore you, at least wait until the next taur'i summit and propose the change to the system as a whole. Let it be voted on and accepted by all members so that we may maintain balance in the lii'trac.

      Sincerely, Glip'naark
      ---Prime Ju'loc of Pluu'tah

(I guarantee every parent has used this at least once at their wits' end right? And if I win then I will be this quid's "parent," which makes my argument absolutely airtight and therefore Pluto is absolutely still a planet)

Argument: Pluto should still be a planet because it works really hard to orbit the Sun, like 248 Earth years per lap! If putting in that kind of overtime doesn’t earn you employee-of-the-solar-system and planet status, what even does?

WIBTA if I removed Pluto from the registry??

Throw away account. I'm (42yr, Male) a higher up in the Universal Planetary Services & Customs Division, recently I've tossed the idea out and around that we should remove Pluto from the Official Universal Planetary Registry.

The backlash has been astounding. I've had (unwanted) answers from fellow employees, most say I would be an a-hole and should be fired!??

But like, it's small, barely brushes the standard planet requirements (or doesn't meet them, heated topic right there), at most it's a dwarf planet. How does it make any sense to still keep keep it registered as an official planet?

YTA. Taking Pluto off the Official Universal Planetary Registry is a stupid idea, it absolutely would negatively affect the 50 something people living on Pluto. Plus everyone knows that Pluto stands for =
P - Planet
L - Landmass
U - Under construction
T - Talk to
O - Office
Obviously the planet, is going to be improved in the future! Why is it always idiots in the important high up jobs!?

WME Name: Kuiper
Argument:

Argument #0: It's all in the Name!
Are you telling me you don't see that Pluto still has Planet in its new title? It has a minor description of size before it but clearly planet is still listed??

Argument #1: It should be Grandfathered In
Pluto was a planet for 76 years. That's like a whole person's life span in theory, or could be! It's a long time regardless. You can't just revoke its membership to being a planet after almost a century! Its like firing your grandma from being your grnadma because she isnt tall enough!?

Argument #2: The Emotional Damage Clause
Pluto has feelings too. You cant just demote someone whos been proudly holding onto their planet title since 1930 and expect them to not to spiral into an icy depression! Do we want the entire Kuiper Belt to unionize and protest or revolt?!?! No! Therefore, Pluto should be a Planet! Then no one has their feelings hurt!

Argument #3: If it walks like a Planet, it is a Planet.
Pluto is round. Pluto orbits the sun. IT HAS MOONS!! Sounds an awful like “Planet Behavior” to me. If we start nitpicking that much, next thing you know, youll be telling me Earth isnt a Planet either!?! That is doesnt count because it hasnt “cleared its orbit” either! (Thats a big point on why Pluto “isnt” a Planet……..but like Hello, Near-Earth Asteroids!) I wave
If earth is a planet without a clear orbit than id say Pluto is also a planet since it does all the things that planets do.

Argument #4: Participation Trophy
Pluto has tried really really really hard to be a planet and that should count for something right?! The least we could do is let it keep the name tag since they worked so hard! Otherwise what kind of message are we sending out to all the other aspiring young celestial bodies?? That hard work and being adorable isnt enough?!?! That they cant be a planet and crush all their hopes and dreams. I could never!

Argument #5: Cultural Significance
Pluto isnt just a planet but its a cultural icon! Mickey Mouse’s dog, countless school science posters, an entire generation of mnemonic devices?! (“My Very Educated Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas”) Without Pluto, what do we get served?? Nachos?? Absolute Chaos is what that is. My brain will not let me forget everything that the school taught me before bringing forth the falsehood that Pluto is not a Planet.

Argument #6: Size Doesnt Matter
Jupiter is out there flexing like agym rat but planets arent in a bodybuilding competition. If they were surely Mercury wouldve been kicked out eons agos. Tiny doesnt mean unworthy! It means compact, efficient and its way easier to draw, especially in all those childrens books!

Argument #7: Peer Pressure
Every kid in elementary school already calls it a planet, as well as how many past generations of people?? Are we really going to start gaslighting all these kids into believing Pluto isnt a planet. “Oh that whole solar system you just built for class! Fake, not real, that ninth one isnt really a planet!” NO! We could never, thats just rude! Think of the children!!

Argument #8: We Need it for Balance.
9 Planets = neat, poetic, satisfying.
8 Planets = awkward, asymmetrical, makes my eye twitch, instills anger in many.
Do we really want our solar system to look like its lost a tooth? NO! That's ridiculous!

Argument #9: Space is Huge! Who Cares!
Space is literally infinite. Are we really going to gatekeep who gets to sit at the Planet table? I think theres plenty of room there for everyone. Let Pluot in, Neptune can scoot on over! Its really not that deep!

Argument #10: It has Fans!
How many dwarf planets have plushies, songs and a bunch of loyal fan clubs? Pluto is the only celestial body with better PR than Saturns rings. If popularity counted for anything, Pluto would be promoted to Super Planet for the amount of love its getting on a daily basis!

Bottom line; Pluto isnt just a ball of ice!! Its a beloved underdog of a planet with a lot of personality! Demoting it wasnt science, it was bullying. And we need to step in and correct it right away! PLANET PLUTO! STAY STRONG!

Thank you, for coming to my TED Talk.
