Why: I adore the elegance of the black streak running from her nose to her side! It reminds me of a calligraphy ink stroke, which lead me to the name "Shūhuà," translating to "painting and calligraphy" in Chinese. I also feel a strong sense of fondness for her being a Year of the Snake Quid (just like me!)-- it feels right thinking of a name that relates to Chinese culture. <3
edit: added pronunciation for her name!

Name: Nike, The Swift
Why: something about this mare just seems to call out to me of champane, namely the champagne shooketh up in celebration. Something about her tells me more goes on around her then what is on the surface, and who better to take after then the goddess of victory? Nike is the greek goddess of victory and she was often portrayed as "Winged Victory" in the motion of flight.

Name: Suzume
Why: I tend to come across names from media that I fall in love with, especially if I enjoyed said media, and that includes Suzume from the film of the same name. Design-wise, the whisker quip reminds me of the worm while the light coat reminds me of Daijin and the keystone in the film. And a pleasant surprise was finding that the name means sparrow, which I just find to be lovely.

Name: Tian Feng (天风)
Why: I decided to go with a Chinese name, since these dracquids are centered around the Year of the Snake. This name loosely means "Heavenly Wind" or "Wind of Heaven," due to her light, sunny color, and her whiskers that resemble wind lines painted commonly into Japanese and Chinese art works.

Name: Sunfyre
Why: I have a couple pets irl. I have horses, cats and snakes. Each of my pets all have 'themes' for their names, my horses were Toy Story themed, the cats are witches and wizards and my snakes are Game of Thrones themed. I thought I'd try keeping the WME snake themed quids in line with that! Sunfyre is the name of a dragon from the Game of Thrones world (house of the dragon) and is called 'Sunfyre the Golden' who is described as the most beautiful creature to command the airs. I thought this mare suited the theme and style of
Sunfyre <3

Name: Persephone
Why: the name means “bringer of destruction" or "bringer of death.” However, despite such a dark, dreary meaning what drew me to the name is the association with Greek Mythology. Here Persephone is known as the queen of the underworld and is associated with the seasons and the cycle of death and rebirth. For a time, she was additionally known at the goddess of the spring. Such a unique balance of life and death, good and bad, hope and despair. I think such a concept of balance in the world suits this girl quite perfectly!
